Cotton yarn.🤦‍♀️

I have always used acrylic yarn but after my Lukemia diagnosis 6 months ago I went on a crazy yarn buying spree. 🤷‍♀️ I went to Hobby Lobby and bought so much yarn. I bought alot of I Love This Cotton. This will be my first project using cotton. A 13 square bag. It takes some getting used to that is for sure. I'm concerned that the tails come undone even after I weave them in. Is there a trick to that? Do I need to use fabric glue? Tie knots? Threatened them within an inch of their lives. I'm feeling ok these days and I'm taking a break from treatment. So I want to try and make as many projects as I can... before I can't. I would love to make a shawl or a cardigan.

Saturated yarn 😍

Calling all Yarn Addicts! I saw the most beautiful handbag on Pinterest. It was made with the most beautiful Dark Red yarn. Like... wine. (I'm sure it was an AI image lol) But... I am on the hunt for the darkest red yarn I can find. I dont care what weight, what company, cotton acrylic or whatever. I would just like to know, what is the darkest red yarn that you know of? I just love saturated dark colors.

Lovey Dovey loves it when I finish the blankets.

Every time I finish and take a picture, Lovey is right there. He really loves this one.

Side note: I named him Lovey Dovey when I believed him to be a girl. I only found out she was actually a boy when I took her to be spayed at 18 months old. 🤣🤣🤣 I still slip up and call him a her sometimes.

Round About Blanket #2

I used the free pattern by Creative Grandma. I was delivered This "Hot Pink" Lion Brand Mandala yarn by accident. I had ordered purple. My 3 year old granddaughter loved it so... I know it's a little... extra but so is she. Lovey Dovey likes it too! I added the little flower in the center. It wasn't part of the pattern. I also left off the the last 2 rounds. I wanted the blanket to be a little smaller. It measures 50 inches.

Going to try and make my very first cardigan. Need advice on an easy pattern and best yarn weight.

Hello friends. I have made so many blankets but never a wearable. I really want to make a Cardigan. I am not a beginner but I think I should start with something simple. Just a plain Cardigan that is long enough to cover my bottom. Then, if that turns out ok I can move on to something more complicated. I have alot of yarn. I have Premier Puzzle Yarn, Worsted weight and DK. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I can read a pattern but I do love a tutorial.

I'm done

The Round About Blanket. Free pattern on Yarnspirations. There is also a 3 part tutorial on Creative Grandma YouTube channel. I used Red Heart Ombre in the color Scuba, Turquoise and White. It took me 12 days to complete and the pattern is beginner friendly. But... let's be honest... Lovey Dovey is the real beauty here. 🐈‍⬛

It's official. I am a Yarn Addict!

I just got my order today. It's the first of 3 orders I placed a few weeks ago. I am in heaven. I also got the book I ordered. I want to make all of these beautiful Granny Squares. I am currently in the fight of my life, battling Lukemia. Crochet helps me to get out of my head. My husband loves it when I buy lots of yarn. I think it makes him believe that I believe I will be around to use it. And that is exactly what I believe.

A Pigeon named Earl

Hello! So I have been crocheting for decades but never tried amigurumi. I want my first project to be a Pigeon. One day a young Pigeon walked into our garage and followed my husband around all afternoon. It became obvious that he couldn't fly. Day 2 my husband was ordering Pigeon food on Amazon. Day 3 he named him Earl Day 4 he made friends with our cat Lovey Dovey. That was 2 years ago. Earl is now a member of our little family. He is so smart and funny. If you have read this far, I am looking for recommendations for an iridescent yarn in purple and auqua colors. I really would like to make an amigurumi Pigeon.

The Purple Lion

I have finished "The purple Lion" blanket! I name every blanket I make. This was my fist time using Lion Brand Yarn (8skeins). I chose the color purple. Hence The Purple Lion. I used the blanket stitch. It's a yarn eater for sure but it makes a squishy blanket. Look how proud Lovey Dovey is.

I just bought my first pattern ever.

I just bought the Persian Tile pattern from Janie Crow. I usually just design my own or watch free tutorials. I am so excited to give this a try. If any of you have made this beautiful blanket I would love some feedback. I have read some of the comments. They say the pattern is well written and easy to follow. (I really hope so)

Difference in RH yarn made in India.

I couldn't figure out how to add a picture to my previous post about the Red Heart yarn made in India. I wanted to show you am example. It even looks horrible. The darkest color here is called Dark Orchid. The color is beautiful but it is so scratchy and hard to work with. The center colors were made in Turkey. You can literally see the difference.

Red Heart yarn. Buyer beware.

Some RH yarn is made in India some is made in Turkey. There is a huge difference. The yarn made in India is horrible and feels like sand paper. The yarn made in Turkey is soft and fluffy and a pleasure to work with. I needed one more skein of Dark Orchid so I ordered one on Amazon. It's so bad. I just finished going through my entire stash of Red Heart yarn. I can't believe the difference. I actually had 1 skein that was made in Canada. Not too bad. I love Premier Basix. It's probably my favorite of the budget friendly yarn.

I can't wait to show you all what I'm working on next! 😍

Color choices

I have alot of yarn. Red Heart and Premier Basix. I love the RH color Oatmeal and I want to choose 2 complimentary colors to go with it for my next blanket. There are just so many to choose from I have delayed starting the blanket. I am determined to make a choice today. I thought maybe Mulberry and Cream or.... IDK, any suggestions?

Premier Puzzle has arrived!

Hello friends! I ordered 6 skeins of Premier Puzzle yarn. Honestly, have never really made a blanket using a bulky yarn. I have no idea what stitch would be good for this. Have any of you used it? What stitch did you use? Any tips?

My current WIP

This is what I am working on right now. I think I love it. My only issue is... I am using the recommended hook size and I wish I would have used a larger hook. It's not draping. It's a little stiff. I did reach out to the pattern creator JM Crochet. She said I can still go up a hook size if I am below row 15. I'm just torn because I know in the past when I've used this Red Heart yarn it softens up after I soak it in Fabric softener. Maybe that will give me the drape I'm looking for. Thoughts?

Making a blanket with RH Ombre. Something is... wrong with this yarn.

I have made 3 different blankets using the RH Ombre yarn. All 3 turned out beautiful. I used the colors Green Apple, Scuba, and Anemone. (Dark Pink) I decided to make another and ordered the same yarn in Baja Blue. The difference in this yarn is like night and day. It's thick almost like a bulky #5. It feels strange too. My hook squeaks with every stitch. It feels like it was treated with something. I am only half way through one skein and I've put it away and moved on. 🤔 I wonder why they are so different. Very disappointing.

Funny story.

I have been buying my Lion Brand yarn at Walmart. I have Walmart Plus so shipping or delivery direct from my store is free. I've been making a blanket using the Mandala Gradient in Purple. The stitch I am using was more of a yarn eater than I anticipated so I had to order 3 more skeins last night. They delivered my yarn this morning however... they were out of the purple so they substited 3 random colors. 🤣🤣🤣 I just find that hilarious. I have a good mind to finish the blanket using those colors. I think it will make me laugh whenever I look at it.
