Unreal Internet Cafe

Does anyone remember this gem that was in the Pavillion in the early 2000s? Does anyone have pics of it, or for that matter just the old pav in general? Please share if you do.

Hokum was INCREDIBLE and I'm so glad I didn't listen to those who said it was terrible or sub-par. These are my spoilery thoughts on why I enjoyed it.

Spoilers ahead, this is why I thought it was EXCEPTIONAL.

I'm certain everyone understood these deeper meanings below as well, I just want to express why I loved them through my particular lens.

So, Carl Jung was a legendary psychoanalyst and I love Jungian psychology, especially as someone who also knows trauma like Ohm does, the Jungian frame work is quite simple. Slay the dragon, get the gold. More specifically, face your shadows (the stuff that upsets you etc), understand them, accept them/move through them, and then finally... integrate them. Once integrated, you are no longer held back by that trauma, this is the goal of Jungian psychology.

Here is it in meme format: https://www.reddit.com/r/Jung/comments/1tvrgwg/my_shadow_work_in_four_stages/

So here's what I interpreted.

Ohm carried the trauma of accidentally killing his mom, however he never accepted it and it haunted him, the unresolved trauma like metaphorical demons, are also literal demons as seen in the basement. These issues make us vulnerable to the forces of the world.

The witch uses those shackles we carry metaphorically, to also literally take you to become consumed by the demons. I really don't mind how on-the-nose some of these are because I feel it's done well thematically.

Just like integration according to Jung, once Ohm faced his shadow in the climactic moment when he cried, and finally accepted his trauma ("It was an accident, it was an accident...") - now by no longer rejecting this part of himself, he integrated his shadow in the moment.

By integrating, he was given a key to escape, in the form of the mini saw. The idea of slay the dragon get the gold is right here, except the metaphorical dragon aren't the basement creatures, it's his unresolved trauma.

He was guided further by his moms "spirit" when she helped by shouting to get Fergal to find him. This part I don't really have an intellectual explanation for but I'm happy to count it as an invitation to survive from what Jung calls the collective unconscious - this for me is the only stretch but just like head canon it works for me.

Now, in his story rewrite, the integrated Ohm no longer takes the similar path of Mal which was the that of being self-centered, and instead he offers his skull to the child to find the treasure etc. Basically, a metaphor of slay the dragon get the gold except here he was selflessly giving up the gold and - in a mix of metaphors, the child being the "inner child" didn't kill for the skull, he just embraced him which is a classic visual for healing wounds of the past as it shows a manner of healing the inner child while also revealing- similarly to reward of the saw - that of the animal skull which was just over the hill, thus allowing both to live.

Again, just my lens, and I absolutely loved it.

By supaform for Milan Design Week

From theri IG, I thought it was very cool:

As part of Milan Design Week at the u/alcova.milano venue, we created a seating landscape that forms both a stage and a setting for talks and musical performances. Titled “Transit Encounters,” the sofa reflects on why public spaces so often take on a utilitarian form and how they might be adapted to foster a sense of conviviality.
The project was developed in collaboration with u/estheticjoys. Our space serves as a venue for musical performances organized together with Aesthetic Joys, as well as for a series of talks hosted by u/design_hotels
