Weird Situation - I want to Pay a Fair Price - But Know Nothing About Social Media Costs!

TLDR: A trusted person is a beginner at social media management and offered to do some basic tasks for the experience & $200 per month. This seems low to me - what should I offer?

I have a bit of an odd situation, and I am hoping someone can help me out.

My business is a sort of co-op/franchise hybrid. Each of us has our own independent business, but there is a 'corporate' entity that coordinates processes and resources.

Corporate has decided that everyone must have a presence on two social media platforms. Beyond that, there is no strategy or process guidance - it's just "build up your socials."

I chose Facebook and Instagram because I could find a name that matches my business name, and I have set up accounts but do not have the time, knowledge, or inclination to run them myself.

Someone I know is starting out in social media management, and I'd like to give them the chance to gain some experience. As my accounts are, essentially, there just because I have to have them, I wanted something that looks like I'm making an effort, but nothing fancy.

We've spoken about the project and have agreed that they will post two posts to Facebook and two posts to Instagram each week. They will write the posts and make the post pictures. Writing can essentially be a couple of lines lifted from our catalogue, and pictures can be a graphic using stock images.

There may also be the occasional additional post for a special event or two throughout the year.

They will also answer any comments and put together a calendar so we can decide what products go out when, but there is no strategy or expectation to grow the pages.

This will be his first social media job, and he is struggling to price things. He has suggested $200 per month, but that seems a bit low to me.

Obviously, he is a beginner, and the work is not complex, so I know I shouldn't be paying top dollar, but I don't want to underpay him and take advantage either.

Is his suggestion fair, or is he lowballing himself? Oh and we're in the US

Post-Bankruptcy Credit Score Issue

My sister went through bankruptcy in British Columbia in 2023 and was discharged in December of that year. She is planning to move out of our grandparents' house this year and discovered she was turned down for a lease because of her credit score.
When she looked at her score, she saw that the credit cards she had are still there and reporting an overdue amount every month.
Is this what usually happens, and if not, is there anything she can do about it?

I Reported 150 Listings & Shops to Etsy - Here's What Happened

We all know how annoying it is to see dropshipped and mass-produced items for sale, as well as items that violate copyright, so I decided that instead of just being annoyed, I would try to do something.

So, I spent some time browsing and began reporting any shops or listings that were obviously not handmade when they claimed to be, used copyrighted images or words, or were AI-generated printables.

First of all, I discovered that once you make roughly 15 reposts, Etsy takes offence and won't let you view any other listings or stores for roughly 12 hours. Subsequently, it took several days to hit my 150-report mark.

Then I sat back and waited.

Two weeks after my last report - NOTHING.

  • Not one response from Etsy.
  • All offending listings are still live and purchasable.
  • All shops with multiple 'offending' listings that were reported as still live and selling.

PLUS, do you know it's almost impossible to contact Etsy on socials? They obviously don't want their sellers complaining in public.

Have any of you had any experience with reporting shops or listings?

Would You Push for an Earlier Appointment if This Was Your Child?

So, I was helping my 17-year-old daughter get ready for a big event when I noticed this mole on her back. I can't remember the last time I saw this area of her back, but I do know she didn't have this as a child, and I don't remember ever noticing it before.

We have no family history of skin cancer, but she is very pale and has quite a few moles. She has only ever experienced one sunburn, which was a few years ago when she was out with friends and discovered why mom & dad always nag her about sunscreen! The sunburn wasn't mild, but it was not particularly bad either.

The first available appointment for our family doctor is in just over two weeks, but she will be on a vacation she has worked and saved for for over a year. After that, our doctor is on vacation for four weeks, so the first appointment after that is almost ten weeks from now.

If this were your child, would you push for an 'emergency' appointment with the family doctor, go to a walk-in, make her cancel the holiday, or just leave it until the first week of September?

Can Someone Help With This Death Record Please?

I am hoping someone can help me with the middle line of this screenshot. So far I have:
"Found dead on the morning of 21st March" and ending with "from exposure accelerated by alcohol"

Everything between those is a mystery to me.

Background on Ricky McCormick?

I've just heard about this case via this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/coldcases/s/eGQYl3LvrZ, and I think u/nunziobruno and u/WickedBeeOfTheWest are definitely onto something with their theories, especially the fact that the notes should be examined through the lens of Ricky as a person rather than an exclusively "code-breaking" one.

I was wondering if anyone has any background on Ricky McCormick as a person, beyond the kind of basics available on Wikipedia, news sites, etc. How far did he get in school, and are there any records or statements about his social, emotional, and cognitive abilities from people who knew him well, as well as people who barely knew him but interacted?

What we commit to paper doesn't exist in a vacuum, and I wondered about Ricky's wider language abilities. For example, did he have atypical speech patterns? Are there any examples of his written language on things like hospital forms, work records, etc.?

My WFH Co-Worker is a slacker

She goes by many names - Mistress Fuzzy Britches, Tiggily Wiggily, Tuftty Toes, and more, but no matter what name I use, she still won't get off the laptop. Of course, I could move her, but it seems wrong to disturb her while her head is entirely empty.

I Have Become Obsessed With the Jack Family Disappearance. What Are Some Other Mysteries Involving Entire Families

The Jack family, mum Doreen, dad Ronald, and sons Russell (aged 9) and Ryan (aged 4) disappeared from Prince George, British Columbia, in 1989. They were last seen climbing into a truck with a man who had offered Ronald and Doreen two weeks of work at a logging camp.

The family never returned, and the police received an anonymous phone call in 1996, saying the family were buried at the south end of a ranch - although which ranch it was was unspecified.

Ground-penetrating radar was used in 2019 to conduct searches, but nothing was found.

There is a LOT more to this case than I have written here, and if you want to go down the rabbit hole, here are some sources:

-------------------------------------------------------
This got me thinking - are there other mysteries involving an entire family, or the majority of family members? I'm not thinking of situations where one person killed another, but more cases where multiple family members were involved.

Thank you!
