New to dominions, how does one git gud?

Played lots of CoE5 and decided to pick up Dominions6 while it's on sale. I've done 2 games as the forges of Ulm and Ulm of the black forest, and both times got crushed on easy difficulty. First time I had around 3 mages and a good balance of sappers and around 100 infantry, and my patron God which was a black dragon, and got destroyed by the Machaka AI with their spiders that web everyone up. This was on easy...

So I started a new game as Ulm of the black forest, went with a lich pretender, added more mages and had around 200 units, got destroyed by the women faction and their "veiled ones" that avoid all my attacks. This was around turn 20 also on easy...I feel like I am doing something terribly wrong.

I'm researching spellcrafts, using gems, setting spells to cast and formations, I just don't know what I am doing wrong.

Glad this sub exists.

That's all, r/battletech's mods are out of their minds. Got banned because I thought someone posting thinly veiled furry p*rn characters in battlemechs was distasteful, apparently not to them. Glad to see this sub actually likes and appreciates the game it's based around. 👍

Help with edge warping! Please read the full body text so you know I cleaned the plate and added a brim.

Having an odd problem with this blue filament. It is 3DHojor brand and I've had great success with their white color but I'm having a pretty serious warping problem with their blue. I've adjusted the bed temp, tried slowing the fan speed down, -->WASHED THE FREAKIN PLATE<-- and added a pretty heavy brim as can be seen. The parts where they are warped are NOT where I used the scraper to remove them. Has anyone had this issue and if so have a solution?

What could be causing this warping?

All my edges are warped. Didn't have this problem with the white filament of the same brand. I do print with a lip for better bed adhesion as well.

28m here. Grew up on GameCube and Xbox

Megaman 2 is my alternative pic for best retro game. And Star Wars Battlefront 2 a very close 2nd for Nostalgic Childhood game.

Edit: remember before downvoting people, there are 18 other games here to talk about and they are all my personal opinion. You can like what you want to like and that's fine. I love the world of Cyberpunk, Edgerunners and the TTRPG. The game just wasn't for me. I don't go around downvoting people who do like it.

Hot take discussion: 40k and AoS should have simultaneous shooting and damage phases

After playing Infinity and Battletech I 100% think that 40k and by extension AoS should have simultaneous shooting/damage phases. If you don't know what this is then allow me to explain. In Battletech all shooting is done at the same time by both players, damage is applied after all attacks have been made. Infinity takes this a step further and allows reactions from getting shot at, those being:attempt to dodge, and shoot back.

This would solve the ridiculous games of Dark Eldar alpha striking players off the board. Units getting killed in their deployment zones without a chance to move. And general all around cheese and power gaming. It would make games closer, and in my opinion, more fun.

I've tested this in a few 40k games, adjusting abilities to work with this ruleset, and I've never had more fun and felt like the games we played were truly fair and it was down to tactics and placement. What do you all think? Have you tried playing 40k this way?

So, first time playing VTM, have had 6 (3 hours) sessions so far with a 5 person group (including myself) and barely anything has happened. We've been assigned a blood hunt (where you track down a rogue vampire) and We've visited the place we got our quest, a nightclub (which gave no leads and was a huge waste of time), and the rouge vamps living location (a living hole in the sewer, which also lead to no leads since he wasn't there and no evidence to help us was found) We've yet to have combat, and I've rolled my dice for skill checks maybe 2 times over the last 18 hours of playing...I feel like it's being played painfully slow and too much time is going to the chaotic Malkavians players pointless shenanigans. Everyone else seems to think it's going fine and have all had prior VTM campaigns they've played in, and are laughing and being goofy. I'm all for having fun but it's being treated like a goofy comedy game of how many hold-ups can we make each session. I'm about to drop out because I am finding myself Reading/playing on my phone because it's taking literally 15-20 minutes to get around to me to make an action, and when I do I always try to be eventful like using a skill check to use either my resources or some skill to help us advance the plot and find the guy, that ultimately amounts to nothing because our DM never brings it up again (for example I used my contacts skill to try and find more info about a person we are trying to find. I passed it, he said that I'd hear back from my contacts soon...and it has not come up again for 5 sessions now...Same story with other skills Ive used that should be helping us track down our quarry like talking with animals, and using my heightened tracking senses as a gangrel).

I can't confirm it, but I have a feeling our DM is just making it up as they go along, no story, no extra papers, no keeping track of anything, nothing behind the DM screen.

Is this the usual or we just got a bad DM?

Edit: I did talk to the DM about the railroading and focusing on throwing us a few bones to advance the plot. That was session 5 (had session 6 a few days ago) and nothing changed at all. I'm in a weird situation because they are the only local group around me and I'm on friendly terms with the group but I wouldn't say I'm 'good' enough friends with them where I think they would care what I am feeling with this.
