Softer 57mm wheel…suggestion?

I went to a fun rink today that was a bit small. My 59mm 92a wheels felt pretty smooth. When I wanted to try my smaller and harder 57mm 98a set, I suddenly felt all the bumps in the floor. Later I was looking to buy a softer 57mm set somewhere between 90-93a, but couldn’t find anything that soft besides some specialized competition wheels from Roll-Line. Anyone have a suggestion?

My brother was charged $68,000 for wrist surgery.

My brother fell and broke his wrist. He is not insured. He had to pay the surgeon $1300 before the surgery. He went to a different hospital ER initially and they settled for $600 total on a $6000 bill. The doctor insisted the surgery happen at this specific hospital. After talking to the financial assistance people at the hospital, they sent this bill for 100% of the initial amount charged. He makes about $35k per year.

Glow up of these nearly 40 year old boots and plates.

I recently realized I could use skating as exercise in addition to daily walking, so I dug my old late ‘80s powder blue Labeda boots out of the closet and went out. After I determined I could still actually skate well, I wanted new wheels and bearings. I got these Bont Ultraglides and some Bones Swiss bearings along with new laces. The last time I got wheels I was 14 and had to beg my parents for money, so it was nice to splurge a bit. Pictured also are the old Wicked Lips wheels I had, which I have now found out are still pretty valuable. Huge props to the kid that spent a half hour with me at the rink trying to wrestle the bearings into these aluminum hubs, which was extremely difficult.

Heavy 10” splash recommendation.

I am using 2 splashes for a hihat on a marching snare for the school where I teach. They sound pretty good so far, but a heavy bottom would improve the sound I think. Does anyone have a suggestion for a thicker 10” splash?

Powered speaker for high school rock band practices.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I run a high school rock band program and we rehearse in a Wenger practice room that’s about 30x15 feet. We have acoustic drums, the guitar amp is a Boss Katana 50 watt, and the bass is a Fender Rumble 25. We have some powered speakers and subs for marching band that we used for vocals and it was just way too much. I ran a small Yamaha board with a couple 58s, but the speakers and carts were too big physically and overpowered for what I want.

What I need is a powered speaker that has 2 XLR inputs so I can skip the mixer and the kids can just turn it on and go. I’d like to just keep it in a corner of the room on a stand so we aren’t tripping over it. My budget is $500. We hire a sound guy for performances, so this is just for practices. Bluetooth would be nice so we can listen to tunes, but it’s not critical.

What was Daki thinking right at this moment?

I have been wondering if Daki was thinking it would have been better for Devon to have died in this fight if the alternative is falling to the dark side, or if he is glad that Maul may protect her and keep her alive regardless. He certainly saw her leaning that way in the days that led up to this.

How and with what should I paint a fresh shell?

I have a new 20x8 maple shell to make a compact kick drum. I want it to be matte black. I don’t have access to any kind of spray booth. I’m thinking of drilling it first (edges are done already) so I can pencil the layout, then painting after. Should I do the inside while I’m at it? I’ll tape the edges of course. Any tips are welcome. Thanks!

Why is my Mini much, much slower than my other iOS devices?

My mini is new this year. I also have a full sized iPad new last year and a mini 13 iPhone. When they are all connected to the same network and same WiFi my mini sometimes takes a full minute to load pages that appear quickly on my other devices. This happens with YouTube, Reddit, and websites using Chrome in general. Sometimes it just crashes out and doesn’t load at all. Strangely I have a few games that require a connection and it doesn’t affect them. Is there some setting that I’m missing? When I restart the mini it’s better for 10 minutes then back to the same.

W-221H the good and the bad…one rare and one new feature.

The new module for this watch is 3585.

The good: This is the most legible Casio I own. Being a bifocal wearer, I appreciate that I can see it with and without my glasses. It’s also much bulkier than the last round of rectangular Casios, which kind of feel like women’s sizes to me. It’s thick but it disappears on my wrist. The strap is thinner than most Casio digitals and it folds under the face unlike the ones that always stick out. The amber backlight lights ups the entire face well. It’s $37 at Walmart.

The bad: I have no idea what the box in the top right does. Maybe it lights ups when the alarm goes off? The time does not display in stopwatch or timer mode. The stopwatch has 1/10s and seconds in the small display and hours:minutes in the large display. I wish this was reversed.

Rare feature: the countdown timer has a repeat function (pic 3). This is only available on a few others. It’s not an interval timer where you can set different durations, but if you need an alarm to go off every X amount of minutes, this covers that. All Ironman watches have this feature, so it’s nice to see.

Unique feature: the stopwatch has a delayed start option (pic 2). You can set it (with one button press) to audibly countdown from 5 seconds so you can time yourself and still get into a runner’s stance. Maybe other watches have this function, but I don’t have one.

This one is certainly worth the sub $40 price tag.

I have a bunch of older Tom drum covers. This one is new. It's hard to find tunes that I won't destroy by playing over them.
