Do you listen to the Retro Hour Podcast?

We are going to be featured on The Retro Hour this Friday, launching the final week of our Kickstarter campaign.

We will be discussing the major C64 exports from the 1980s Australian gaming industry, as well as have special guest John Passfield join us to talk about his history, from developing games in his bedroom as a child, through to the forming of major studios in Aus.

I'll post a link once it's live.

Link to our Kickstarter in the comments.

Featured on Back Pocket - Region Locked has 11 days to go!

We have 11 days left to reach our goal.

It probably won't happen..

For this project to become a reality and for us to create the most cinematic and entertaining video game documentary ever - we need your help.

We were recently featured on Back Pocket to talk about our project.

If everyone here pledges, we may make our goal.

I know it's a lot to ask with times how they are - but this community has been so supportive, and we want to give back to the industry the only way we know how.

What would you do with 7% reached after 2 weeks...

Hi all,

We tried meta ads and organic outreach prior to launch. We probably shouldn't have launched in the state we were at...

Regardless, here we are. 7% reached after 2 weeks.

What can we do to make a good situation out of this.

We've been using the Kickstarter as a bit of a marketing platform. We use it to promote the concept to industry to get interest. Most respond with acknowledgment and appreciation of what we are trying to do. Not many are pledging.

I'm finding it hard to promote organically. Most Facebook groups and Reddit pages don't let you self promote. It's a hard sell.

What would you do in our situation?

Coming soon: Region Locked: Unlocking Australian Video Games

Hi there, I'm Michael, Creative Director for Region Locked: Unlocking Australian Video Games.

When we talked to our friends about Aussie games history they didn't know that Destroy All Humans was developed in Australia or that The Hobbit even existed! It makes us feel like we've done a disservice to the general knowledge of Australian made games in this country.

This is our opportunity to change that.

We are going to create a detailed, cinematic, and entertaining documentary series showcasing Australia's contributions to the global video game industry, encapsulating the essence and oral history of the creators, visionaries and rebels of Australian gaming.

But - we are running out of time... Retro video games are deteriorating. Cassette tapes, floppy discs, even cartridges and CDs are not built to withstand the test of time. And incidentally, neither are humans...

Follow our project and be a part of saving Australian video game history.

Please follow our Kickstarter

How many Australian made games do you know?

Care about? Want to know the backstory of?

I'm testing the waters for our Kickstarter campaign for Region Locked: Unlocking Australian Video Games.

Is it common practice enough to post a preview page here before Kickstarter review? We are going to submit for KS review on Monday.

Shadowrun (SNES)

Who played Shadowrun on the SNES?

Did you know it was a first of its kind in isometric world development?

I played many games that came after it, but didn't know this until we started researching.

Way of the Exploding Fist

Was the game really that popular?

We are doing research and all I can find is "widely popular"

I know it was innovative, but I want to hear it from the generation that played it.

Howany Australian developed games have you played.

We are working on a documentary on the history and culture of Australian video games, and it got me thinking.

How many games can you name that were developed in Australia?

There are the obvious like Hollow Knight, Crossy Road, Mixtape, LA Niore... But the more we look, the more we realise how little the world knows Australia's contributions to games!
