We cannot deny the fact that Indian cities, towns and villages are extremely filthy. The problem is not just about it being an eyesore but also a major public health and environmental issue.

We know the reasons behind it, it is a combination of poor civic behaviour on part of the public and poor waste management, sanitation infrastructure and rules enforcement on part of the government. If we want to solve this problem, we need to address these two issues as both reinforce each other.

What can be done to solve this serious problem?

We all know that hyper capitalism and excessive consumerism is driving climate change and causing ecological degradation.

We also know that capitalism has been responsible for pulling a huge number of people out of poverty through formal job creation. Unfortunately wealth inequality has also grown with it. Economic growth is important in our current system for creating and preserving jobs.

Is there a middle ground where we can do both? What is the alternative to the current system that is taking us on the path to destruction?

I as an individual am not doing enough on my part yet but I dearly love our planet and I want to protect and conserve it for both humanity and non human animals.

India is a poor country of a billion plus people. There are almost more people in India than Africa and Europe combined. It is extraordinarily difficult to govern such a large populace. Many factors contribute to India still being so poor and having a terrible quality of life but I like to think that our massive population is the defining factor.

What if we balkanise and form independent nations and then group ourselves into an "Indian Union" as a political, defense & economic alliance. I guess that smaller countries are comparatively easier to govern and develop. Will we finally see prosperity under this arrangement? Or is India too integrated to break apart?

Hello dear Konkani friends. I as a Marathi speaker have always found Konkani to be fascinating. I like to think that Marathi & Konkani are sisters. I've been to Goa only 3 times and whenever I heard people speak Konkani, my mind went, "Same Same, But Different". It is also an incredibly sweet sounding language 😊

As far as I know, Konkani has variants like Goan, Karwari and Mangalorian, etc. Can speakers of these respective variants understand each other with ease? Do they have influence of surrounding languages? And are they variants or more like dialects?

The chaos that we experience living in Indian cities both big and small is the result of incredibly poor planning. Trash everywhere, traffic, broken infrastructure, polluted rivers, etc. has made the quality of life in our country so bad. I sometimes look at our cities and wonder if it is too late?! Even if we can, will we be able to afford it and face the disruption it will cause?

I am 34M, from India. I've been on the fence for a long long time about marriage and fatherhood. Somedays I feel I should get married for it's core benefit of companionship, somedays I feel I shouldn't for the benefits of solo life.
