Hey everyone, quick update on my Civic AC
To recap: About a months ago, I paid a local garage 3,450 AED to fix my AC. They charged me for a brand-new original Honda evaporator (1,450), expansion valve (200), R-1234yf gas (800), and labor (1,000). Recently, it started hissing and blowing warm air on the driver's side.
I decided to take it back to the exact same mechanic today to see what he would say. His diagnosis? He claims there is a leak in the evaporator again.
At this point, I feel like I'm being scammed. If I paid for a genuine Honda part, shouldn't there be a standard warranty on it? It seems completely unacceptable for an OEM part to fail in a months unless he installed it wrong, damaged it, or worse charged me for an original part but installed a cheap aftermarket one.
What should I do now?
- Does anyone know the standard warranty on original Honda parts installed by independent garages in Dubai?
- Should I demand that he replaces it for free since it's only been a months?
- If he refuses to fix it or tries to charge me for labor/gas again, can I file a complaint with DED (Dubai Consumer Rights)? Has anyone had success doing this with mechanics?
I still have the original invoice stating what I paid for. Any advice on how to handle this confrontation would be highly appreciated!
