Hey everyone, quick update on my Civic AC

To recap: About a months ago, I paid a local garage 3,450 AED to fix my AC. They charged me for a brand-new original Honda evaporator (1,450), expansion valve (200), R-1234yf gas (800), and labor (1,000). Recently, it started hissing and blowing warm air on the driver's side.

I decided to take it back to the exact same mechanic today to see what he would say. His diagnosis? He claims there is a leak in the evaporator again.

At this point, I feel like I'm being scammed. If I paid for a genuine Honda part, shouldn't there be a standard warranty on it? It seems completely unacceptable for an OEM part to fail in a months unless he installed it wrong, damaged it, or worse charged me for an original part but installed a cheap aftermarket one.

What should I do now?

  • Does anyone know the standard warranty on original Honda parts installed by independent garages in Dubai?
  • Should I demand that he replaces it for free since it's only been a months?
  • If he refuses to fix it or tries to charge me for labor/gas again, can I file a complaint with DED (Dubai Consumer Rights)? Has anyone had success doing this with mechanics?

I still have the original invoice stating what I paid for. Any advice on how to handle this confrontation would be highly appreciated!

Suggest good Garage

Hey everyone,

I'm dealing with some AC issues on my 2018 Civic and could really use a recommendation for a trustworthy mechanic in Dubai.

About two months ago, I had the AC fixed at a local garage. It cost me around 3,450 AED in total. Here is the breakdown of what they charged me:

  • Evaporator: 1,450
  • Expansion Valve: 200
  • AC Refill (R-1234yf): 800
  • Labor: 1,000

Now, just a couple of months later, the system is acting up again. It's not blowing completely hot air, but the driver's side is mostly warm (only slightly cool), while the passenger side is still blowing cold. I am also hearing a distinct hissing noise when the AC is running and louder hissing when turning the AC on.

I really don't want to take it back to the same shop because I'm worried they will just cover up their mistake and hit me with extra costs. Does anyone know a solid, reliable garage that actually knows how to properly diagnose and fix Honda AC systems without overcharging
