Patriot tool-less guide rod vs RCD Atlas

I recently picked up a tool-less guiderod from Gilbert (87 buttons to my door). And, took a few pics of the differences between that and the rod in my RCD RC9c. The only real difference on length is the Patriot has a cut for the lug.

Patriot Tool-less guide rod part 2

I put the Atlas from the RCD in the Patriot using the Patriot plug. Also took more pics of the springs, rods and plugs. Left side is RCD Atlas for all. The RCD has an Atlas 12lb spring that makes the RCD rack kind of stiff. The Patriot has an 8 lb spring. I'm probably going to try the Patriot spring in the RCD and see if it will cycle. And, interested in how the recoil impulse changes. Same with placing the 12 in the Patriot.

Toolless guide rod follow up

Talked to Gilbert and ordered the toolless. The length is the same as used for a 4.25". The back has a slot for the link. Left is RCD (Atlas) for comparison. The measurements are the length of the bushings with the longer one being the Patriot. Lastly, the old rod vs the new.

Let's talk grips

I recently added the Cheely CC grip to my Patriot and frankly while I love the shape the texture is something to be desired. I love the Patriot grip angle but also have gone down the alloy grip rabbit hole. I told him my grip feels a little slick. He told me it's either worn down a little or all my crud. I'm thinking 1st one. Reached out to Gilbert and asked him about the Henning Grip he now sells and about the full sized poly grip.

Gilbert is selling the Henning grip for about 430, or 450 rounds. It is custom made by Henning for GPArms. It comes with the main spring. He sent me this pic. These look pretty darn sweet.

He told me he's changed the material used for his poly to something stiffer with the same texture as before. He stated the stiffness makes the texture more grippy. These are 139 rounds. Believe it or not you can find them on his site by doing a google search for GPArms grip but can't seem to directly find them on his site. You will find www.GParms.com/shop "shop" is no where on his site. You select the grip and drop it in the cart and it will tell you GPArms will contact you.

Now need to decide

Slowed down for thoughts

How does the return look as far as spring rate? I see some bounce where the muzzle goes down and then back or could be me?

Small parts and grip safety material

For when someone claims Gilbert uses MIM: All the small parts are machined. The grip safety is stamped. This was told to me by my smith that specializes in Double stacks.

RCD9c first impressions

I want to qualify this by saying I'm an average Joe shooter. I took a bunch of classes in 24/25 and haven't shot since last June. So being totally honest.

I own a Patriot (well over 3k rounds in the 1st year as part of training) and almost no shooting in the past 8 months. A CS 24 and a modified Cos21. I've shot one P with considerable work done. So not an expert on double stacks.

With that said. I am in love with the RC9c. As I stated I haven't shot in a while and only some dry fire every other month or so. It runs flat and is plane fun to shoot. I stuck it in my holster at the end of about 300 rds and used it as my ECD heading home. Most of the shooting was from holster and did some doubles. This is the 1st 5 shots at 10yds without the dot sighted in.

RCDc arrived.

First impression is it's a beautiful gun. I fully understand the grip design and don't find it sharp. It's got some weight to it I didn't expect for a 4.25". Fit has a very tiny wiggle without magazine and none with. The rose gold on CrN is perfect. Having the extension on the back of the grip helps with larger hands.

Staccato C2 16rd mags are the same size as the 15rd Atlas mags. I'll head to the range Friday and compare.

EPS Fullsize MRS gold in stock

Just ordered from freedom Gorilla. I'd ordered a 507C X3 earlier today and the email popped up in my account about this being available. Called and made the switch. Will be interesting to compare to my green MRS and hope it's everything people say.

PSA: clean the extractor channel once in a while

This is well over 3k of ammo and the gun still ran perfectly fine even with this level of grime. I hadn't cleaned it since purchase as I wanted to see how long it could go but decided to take care of it since I tore the gun down to fix the ejector. I did clean the exposed hook at each cleaning.

Green vs Gold

I'm a die hard Holosun green user as it works much better for me than red. Have any of you tried the gold compared to green for people like me? I've heard good things about gold for years. Should I stick with green? Thanks

Ejector decided to eject

Has anyone else had the back of their ejector raise? After thousands of rounds mine did. It wasn't too bad at 1st so I've been shooting it. A few days ago I took it apart for a deeper cleaning and noticed it comes way out.

Removed roll pin and it sits flush. Stuck a punch in the hole and it hits the ejector post. Odd really. I know I can file down the groove to get it to sit but why would it happen in the 1st place?

Sig P211 slide width vs P320 question

Does anyone have both slides from the top/back and can post a pic? Or, have good pics of the P211 vs other double stacks?
