Achieving the Rita Hayworth colour and style!

I know this probably isn’t a DIY but I’d love advice before I seek out a stylist. The left is today - the old colour (washed out) and the auburn box dye on top (taken the same day).

I’d like to achieve both the colour and style of Rita, but I know that the colour here is also edited as it was a B&W photograph. My thoughts are that I’m looking at a colour correction at a minimum… what colours do I ask for? I find in the past it’s always come out too dark. What kind of styling would work? I’m assuming whatever she used in this photo is no longer sold… is it rollers?

I used to have a great stylist and she passed, I’ve been doing it on my own a long time and really want to find the right fit :(

24h trip suggestions next week for a teen with a foot injury?

24h trip suggestions next week for a teen with a foot injury?

With the heat wave and my son’s now injured foot (can’t walk more than 5 min), we are thinking of options to enjoy our 24h trip next week. We’ve booked the doubletree Hilton magnificent mile which has an outdoor pool (phew!) and we will take the Big Bus tour. Any other suggestions that don’t require walking AND don’t require sitting out in the boiling heat? We might just have to call it a pool night but I guess that’s ok lol.

Canada: Ottawa Region or St. John’s/Maritimes

Ottawa or St John’s for a solo trip?

Hi all, I’ve lived in several provinces and been to most places in Canada but two main regions I’ve never visited are Ottawa (Ottawa/Gatineau/Kingston) and St. John’s/anything east of Quebec City.

If you were a solo 40+ traveler, what would you choose? I really like history/politics but also love the ocean and friendly people/a good down to earth pub.

Let’s assume budget/distance/weather doesn’t concern me. I only have 3-5 days max but can handle a fast pace. What would you choose?

Note: I know people may recommend other regions in Canada for travellers but I’ve probably already lived there. I’m focused on these two!

Trades in Windsor/ Starting over the age of 50?

My spouse is considering a potential trade as a second career (retired police officer). Has anyone taken the steps to upgrade and do a full trade at St Clair College. Maybe HVAC or carpentry. Has anyone done this and if so, any thoughts around working in trades when one is already 50?

Advice from PTs about returning post Covid (especially 40+)

A bit of background: I qualified as a PT and by Jan 2020 and was doing really well with the “SAHM and middle age women ready to feel great again niche” but as you can imagine, COVID happened. I went back to remote corporate learning & development management where I’ve been dying alone at a desk for 6 years, and just quit.

I’d like to start again. I know I need to redo everything which is ok, I love to learn. My questions:

- Is part time hours only realistic? I am ok with a reduced income and intend to keep a low steady base like before

- How, if any, has the niche I’ve described changed post-COVID in terms of income/recession

- I’m almost 45, do you find your age has helped at all? I have been lifting 25 years except baby breaks but man do I ever have days where getting up just gets harder

- Have I lost my damn mind?

Deciding between 3 hotels (Bloomsbury)

- Kimpton Fitzroy

- Montague on the Gardens

- The Bloomsbury Hotel

I am a 40+ solo traveler and trying to decide between these three. I like how the Kimpton provides a small solo room. I’m unconcerned with room size but would like somewhere upscale with a good bar and restaurant. Also open to other 4*+ options and even better if they offer a 3+ nights offer discount.

Base for Normandy WW2 beach tour

Hi all, I would like to spend one evening solo for a WW2 beach tour but need some thoughts on this. I will not have a car and will take a group tour from the base.

I’m looking for somewhere I can unwind, enjoy drinks at a bar, and just enjoy a late evening social scene maybe. I’m over 40 so something a bit more casual.

Bayeux is often recommended but I don’t care for touristy/sleepy after dark places, which Bayeux might be? For context, I love Montreal and hate Quebec’s old town, if that gives perspective.

Caen seems to have less stellar reviews but might be a good fit for my tastes. Any other suggestions?

France vs Scotland for mid 40s female solo trip

I’m mid-40s woman trying to decide between a week in France or Scotland this September and I keep going back and forth.

I love WWII history plus medieval/1700–1800s history. France feels amazing for Normandy, Versailles, Les Invalides, and possibly taking the train from Paris to Alsace. So cool! But my French is intermediate, I get tired in French all day without actually being fluent and that’s not even trying ti decipher the accent (I’m Canadian).

Scotland feels more naturally “me” socially with Edinburgh architecture, pubs, friendly atmosphere, maybe even heading down to York for Viking/history vibes.

I know they’re completely different trips, which is probably why I can’t decide. If you’ve done both, which would you choose for a 6 night solo trip?

Educational assistant jobs in Windsor for fall

School Educational Assistants (EAs), can you share a bit about how difficult it is to get a role within Windsor’s school districts? I’d like to leave my current non-EA job and work casual. I know it’s not hiring season yet but how is the demand out here? I just moved to Windsor.

(I have a degree in adult education, an EA certificate, a 1st year’s master in instructional design, and worked as an EA from 2016-2020, worked elsewhere in learning and development since then but considering returning as an EA part-time).

I’m in my mid 40s and now completely grey. I’m wrestling with the ideas to try and continue with a lighter copper (I’m obviously pale, green eyes freckles) or…? I don’t know. I’ve heard copper is hard to maintain with grey. I posted an older pic without the roots too for comparison.
