Trying to make what was once a shared home my own…

A few months ago, my spouse left and ended our marriage. The pain from that has been unlike anything I’ve experienced, and I continue to work through the profound grief of it all.

I have decided, for now, to remain living in the apartment we once shared. Primarily because location, amenities, and price are great relative to other rentals in the area.

I have put forth a great effort, one that I’m proud of, to make the space my own. I have purchased a new couch, replaced photos and some wall art, and I’ve hand made a few other furniture pieces and cabinets to hang up.

I guess I’m wondering about others who are or have been in my position. Is there anything else you’ve done that has helped you adjust to living alone and making a shared space your own?

Thank you for any and all insight

Been on finasteride and minoxidil for a year.. is this as good as it’s gonna get?

The first and second pic are from today, and the third pic is from a couple years ago before I started treatment!

Jack and Margaret / random thoughts

It wasn’t long before news of Jack and Margaret’s separation that my own spouse chose to leave our marriage.

In a weird way, I feel less alone knowing Jack is seemingly going through something similar. I had a really hard time with this most recent album because it talked a lot about celebrating marriage and life long love, and I just couldn’t connect with it. I also had an August wedding, and the album came out only days after my spouse left.

Anyway, I hope both of them are doing as well as they possibly can. And if you’re going through a divorce or bad heartbreak I hope you move through the grief as well as possible ❤️

Air Purifiers

All Home Depot’s in the area plus northern IL are out of air purifiers. If you’re looking for some, Walmart on 27th has quite a few to choose from!

Question about dowels and painting!

I’m building two of these compact patio side tables. I have walnut dowels I’d like to use, and I’d like to paint the frame white while keeping the natural color of the dowels.

What’s the best way to ensure no white paint gets on my dowels? One idea I had is waiting to trim the dowel flush until after I’ve painted the frame. Once the paint dries, I trim it flush and the dark brown of the walnut should be untouched by white paint, right? My concern is that as I’m trimming it, it will peel of paint around the dowel. Or, if I have to sand the dowel down a little, it may also sand off the paint.

My other thought was covering the dowel with a 1/2 inch circle sticker? Let me know your thoughts!
