Destroyer of dreams

Who is this? My tomato plant was absolutely decimated overnight and I think this was the culprit (4 other tomato plants and everything else unharmed). You can see two stem ends just chewed clean off in the photo. Do I kill this bug or just move it away from the garden?

What color is the couch?

At dinner tonight, my MIL announced that she’s replacing her green couches with a sectional. I was confused and said, “What green couches?” She said, “The ones in the living room!” My husband said, “You mean the brown couches?” She got irritated and said, “They’re not brown, they’re green!” My husband and I looked at each other, each wondering *Is she serious?* and we looked to my FIL, who said, “I learned a long time ago not to argue with her about color. If she says they’re green, they’re green.”

So, Reddit, is it green? I know it’s not chestnut or walnut brown, maybe a slight greenish hue to it, but I cannot call this furniture green. Am I crazy?

“Mom, come look at this cute spider!”

Said my formerly arachnophobic son to my formerly arachnophobic self. (Winning!)

This fine fellow was stuck between our window and screen. He was rescued, hydrated, and relocated to natural camouflage (where he will find a bug buffet).

Audiobook length discrepancy?

I’m about to start the Rob Inglis audio version of The Two Towers. I noticed the Andy Serkis version is 4 hours longer. Anyone know why there’s such a big difference in the durations?

I don’t think it’s either author…

I got a copy of The Power of Myth, the text of the interview of Joseph Campbell by Bill Moyers, at a used bookstore. Both the half-title page and dedication page are signed by someone. I don’t think it says Joseph Campbell or Bill Moyers.

Any ideas?

Rescued!

I found a six-spotted tiger beetle stuck inside my bone-dry watering can in the garage, he was barely moving. I got him out of the can and he was moving soooo slow, so I gave him some water. He drank for a minute and a half! After that he got some spring back in his step. I did have to put him in the grass because he was headed back to the garage at the end.

The last four words

Reading *god is not Great* by Hitch, I was pleasantly surprised by the last sentence in the book’s Afterword.

What could have caused this?

This pair of trees is riddled in large, deep holes. I’ve seen borer bug holes, woodpecker holes, and sapsucker holes, but this isn’t like any of those.

Any ideas?

After many failures, my son defeated a lynel in the Zelda game. Much celebration erupted from the next room, and Pips was not pleased.

The guest bathroom shower fixture at my in-laws’ house shakes noticeably and the water pulsates when the water is turned on. What on earth?
