Thoughts on swinging arm down during kicks?
I've heard different thoughts on whether it's advised to swing your arm down during kicks (swinging down the same arm as the leg that's kicking).
Yes, swinging down the arm tends to give kicks more power. However, it goes against the boxing defense principal of keeping your hands at your head (to protect your head). I've had instructors correct me when I don't swing the arm down. But I've had others who've sparred more say that their opponent swinging their arm down during a kick is a clear vulnerability they've always taken advantage of and they've just popped the opponent in their exposed head while their arm is down.
I'm sure it depends, but what are your thoughts on best approach for mitigating the vulnerability?
