Petit update sur l’application Acadie : je me rapproche finalement du lancement. Si tout se passe bien avec l’approbation d’Apple, j’espère que la version iPhone sera disponible d’ici la Fête nationale de l’Acadie, le 15 août. La version Android suivra un peu plus tard.

Quand j’ai commencé à parler de ce projet, j’ai dit que je ne le faisais pas pour faire de l’argent, et c’est toujours vrai. Acadie est avant tout un projet que j’ai créé pour m’aider à redécouvrir mes propres racines acadiennes, apprendre davantage sur notre histoire et notre culture, et essayer d’en préserver et d’en partager une petite partie dans un format accessible.

Cela dit, j’ai aussi réalisé que continuer à développer l’application, ajouter du contenu et maintenir le projet à long terme entraîne des coûts réels.

Il y aura donc une option Acadie+, avec du contenu et certaines fonctionnalités supplémentaires, pour les personnes qui souhaitent soutenir le développement continu de l’application. Mon objectif n’est pas de mettre toute l’expérience derrière un paywall, une grande partie d’Acadie restera accessible sans abonnement, mais Acadie+ me donnera une façon de continuer à investir dans le projet et de le faire grandir avec le temps.

La première version ne sera certainement pas complète. Il manquera des noms de famille, des endroits, des personnes, des histoires et probablement beaucoup d’autres choses. Je vois plutôt Acadie comme un projet vivant qui pourra continuer à évoluer, et vos suggestions vont m’aider à décider ce que je devrais ajouter ensuite.

Hi everyone!

A small update on the Acadie app: I’m finally getting very close to launch. If everything goes well with Apple’s approval process, I’m hoping the iPhone version will be available by Acadian Day, August 15. The Android version will follow a little later.

When I first started talking about this project, I said I wasn’t building it to make money, and that is still true. Acadie started as something I wanted to build to help me rediscover my own Acadian roots, learn more about our history and culture, and hopefully preserve and share a small part of it in a format that is accessible to people today.

At the same time, I’ve also realized that continuing to develop the app, add new content and maintain the project long-term comes with real costs.

Because of that, there will be an optional Acadie+ tier with additional content and features for people who would like to help support the continued development of the app. My intention isn’t to put the whole experience behind a paywall, a large part of Acadie will remain available without a subscription ,but Acadie+ gives me a way to keep investing in the project and expanding it over time.

The first release definitely won’t contain everything. There will be family names, places, people, stories and probably many other things that are missing. I see Acadie much more as a living project that can continue growing, and suggestions from the community will help me decide what to prioritize next.

Hey everyone. I am just curious what has given people more success with making money on the App Store? A monthly/yearly subscription? Pay once at beginning? 1 time unlock that gives lifetime? I have been just thinking about this stuff lately and wondering where people have been having success.

I've been eyeing the SecretLabs Magus Pro XL for a long time, but heard a lot of good things about Flexispot. For that I was looking at the E7 Plus Max. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Hey everyone. My first app on the App Store. Moments Later.

Created this for journaling. Collecting "Moments" and then later you can use those moments to expand into a full journal post for the day or have it as a bullet list of moments. Pictures, videos, etc. I created this because as a parent of older kids now, I wish I had an app like this when they were younger. Not having a time to be able to be able to journal about all the moments with them and now not being able to remember all of them.

Any thoughts on the app? Thanks.

Hi everyone. I’ve been thinking a lot about Acadian roots lately. I have been thinking about this more and more lately as I am getting older. Doing some research, reading and wanting to know more.  I have also been thinking about visiting a lot of these places. 

I started building something to bring that together in one place. The idea is that you could explore a person's name, see where it connects, jump into stories like Beaubassin or the Expulsion, and follow that journey across places.

I’m still early in building it, and I’d really like input from the community to shape it properly.

What would you want something like this to include?

• family names that should be there
• important places
• festivals or traditions
• stories or moments that matter
• places people should visit
• Stories that could be added

I want to include both acadian and cajuns, with our shared histories.

I am open to ideas. I'd love to be able to shape this with everyone. Wanting to do this for us. A all in one place reference perhaps. Adding more stories, etc. 

I am not an expert, but am learning as I go along. Using this as an opportunity. I have be extremely passionate about this project lately. The Acadian culture is near and dear to my heart. I want to make sure this actually reflects Acadian/Cajun history and identity the right way.

I am also starting with iPhone, but I am open to also looking at doing an Android version.
