Today I extracted almost all of the historical data on Godot games on itch.io using the Wayback Machine.
The idea came from the Godot usage and engine growth article by Clay John, where I noticed, that the number of itch.io games was not really accurate (The article only considered the "Godot"-Tag, overlooking itch's engine declaration feature).
You can get the full dataset here and do with it what you want.
To estimate the current number of Godot games on itch.io, we add the first two groups together and subtract the overlap.
So here's the calculation for today August 8th, 2026 (13:36 PDT (UTC-7)):
"Made with Godot": 106,967
"Godot"-Tag: 42,362
Overlap: 25,363
106,967 + 42,362 - 25,363 = 123,966 Godot games on itch right now.
Of course, there are also games made with Godot that don't declare their engine or use the Godot tag, so the real number is likely higher.
The historical data also shows that, over the last six months, an average of around 160 Godot games per day were added to itch.io.
At that pace, that's roughly 4,800 new Godot games per month. And since the monthly rate has been increasing, the next month could plausibly be higher.
The growth doesn't seem to be slowing down either. In fact, the number of new Godot games being added each month has been rising significantly.
If you find anything interesting in the dataset, or have ideas for other things to analyze, I'd love to hear about it!
Game is "Welcome, Dear Human": https://store.steampowered.com/app/4425140/Welcome_Dear_Human/
The demo includes two routes: In the original story, you move into a new apartment and begin spending your nights with your sleep paralysis demon.
The completely new Octo route begins with a silent stranger at a bar. Before long, you are kidnapped by a hungry shapeshifter and forced to find other humans for them to eat. Help them find dinner, or become dinner yourself.

The game is made in Godot and utelizes a lot of advanced mechanics that are not typically seen in visual novels. All scenes from the trailer are also like this in the game!
