Spider-Man: Brand New Day Prep Reading Guide

With Spider-Man: Brand New Day premiering at the end of this month, now is a good time to read the comics that the film will be based on.

The reading includes Spider-Man’s earliest battles with the Hulk and Punisher, his uncontrolled mutation in The Other, and the start of the titular Brand New Day. Reading through these issues will get you a good basis for understanding the movie (at least as far as we know now!).

The order can be read on your own or with our group on Alex Segura’s Discord: https://discord.gg/3ASXP2BsWw
We have a host of comic professionals including writers, artists, letterers, and editors in the group—so come join the discussion!

The Born Again finale was absolutely wild. Between Matt’s courtroom confession and Fisk being forced out of the city, the show clearly set the stage for some of the best modern DD runs.

The ending highly hinted at three major storylines coming up next:

Daredevil Vol. 2 #82–87 ("The Devil in Cell Block D") by Ed Brubaker

Daredevil Vol. 6 #25–36 by Chip Zdarsky.

Daredevil: Unleash Hell – Red Band #1–5 (2025) by Erica Schultz

I’m diving into these stories to look for clues about Season 3, and I’m setting up a Book Club to read through them together!

We’ll be hosting the discussion on Alex Segura’s Stuff and Nonsense Discord server.

It’s a great community that includes multiple Daredevil and comic book creators—including Alex himself, who just released the new Daredevil novel.
