I recently watched an episode of My Life on a Plate featuring Tony Blackburn. In the episode, he says he became vegetarian around age 5 after realizing the animals he saw were the same ones on his plate.

What I find puzzling is why he never moved to veganism, especially given how long it’s been. On the show, he eats things like ice cream and rice pudding made with cream. If he had that level of awareness at a young age, why didn’t the connection extend to dairy and eggs—both of which involve animal suffering and death?

I also don’t think most vegetarians imagine dairy cows and egg-laying hens live out their lives happily on “peaceful farms.” So what is the reasoning that allows people to stay vegetarian for decades while drawing that line? There seems to be some incredible cognitive dissonance at play.

Hi.

I watch videos [TV shows, movies] while in bed. I have a mouse with an extension lead so I can access the PC - change volume, playlist file, etc. With Onboard, I can resize to a quarter of the screen [lower right]. Then I can maximize the video to the left have of the screen to access the Onboard keys. I'm considering trying Fedora but that doesn't seem to have Onboard.
