Waynesboro is a melting pot and I love it.
I heard recently that we're getting an Afghan restaurant! I'm really looking forward to it since I've never experienced Afghan food and I love trying new cuisines. Can anyone who has experience with Afghan cuisine tell me what I can look forward to?
It will be opening up in the old Purple Foot building (which was previously Shredder BBQ). Here's the info from the post on FB:

So let's see, Waynesboro has...
✓ Mexican
✓ Italian
✓ Chinese
✓ Japanese
✓ Cuban
✓ Indian
✓ Cajun
✓ Southern / BBQ
✓ Thai (sorta - Silk Road)
✓ Afghan (coming soon)
I know beggars shouldn't be choosers, but in the future I'd still love to see a Korean BBQ, Greek, or even Middle Eastern restaurant. There are quite a few decent ones outside of town in Harrisonburg and Charlottesville, but I'd selfishly like to have one in town.
Looks like they're de-hauntifying the haunted house next to Fairfax Hall.

Lone star tick at 200x magnification (picked up from Sunset Park)
Ticks are out and about (and water is wet). I spend a lot of time outdoors in the woods and this is the first tick that managed to get me despite tick spray, proper clothing, and awareness. Lone star ticks can possibly transmit Alpha-gal syndrome (red meat allergy). Deer ticks can possibly transmit Lyme disease. (Not all tick bites transmit either of these, but limiting exposure to ticks is obviously the best bet.)
But ticks aren’t just in the woods! (I feel like people don’t realize this.)
I watched soo many kids playing in the tall grass at the top of Sunset Park last evening. Well, I guess I’m guilty of doing that myself as a kid. Just be aware of how to stay protected.
Stay safe out there, y’all!
Flowers on the Greenway
There are several others that you can find, but these are the ones that always catch me eye. Some are invasive, but honestly I just appreciate their beauty regardless.
These electric bikes are getting out of hand
At Ridgeview Park there are kids riding full on electric motorcycles. Even speeding across the metal bridge. Wtf? I’m not trying to be a killjoy, but it’s ridiculous. They’re everywhere. Within a span of 5 minutes I had 8 bikes zoom by. At least they’re wearing helmets. I watched an old dude fall over on his electric bike while sitting stationary. The bike weighed over 100 pounds! I’m telling you, these bikes are just silent motorcycles. Injuries are gonna start piling up.
The new mountain bike trails at Sunset Park are RAD and seemingly never ending…

Best shawarma for first time experience?
I see that there are several places in town that serve shawarma. I'm a big fan of gyros (I understand that they're similar yet not the same thing) and have been wanting to try shawarma for the longest time. Can I please get some recommendations for the best place for a newbie like me to try? I would prefer a restaurant that I can sit down in and not a "take-out only" place. Thanks in advance!
UPDATE: I went to Pasha and had the chicken shawarma and it was great! Looking forward to trying out Xenia and Babylon next. Thanks soo much for the suggestions!😊
