New user, looking for general guidance

Just got a 1 year subscription with a discount code. Just trying to wrap my head around EVERYTHING in the app and EVERYTHING you can actually track or do.

Just looking for any tips/opinions/guidance on what I should be doing or getting in the habit of doing.

So far I've connected accounts and started categorizing certain things.

Not sure what else I should start to do or get in the habit of doing?

Is this sleeping pad still usable and if yes, what's the ideal cleaning method?

Checked a relatives gear to see if I could save some money on an upcoming trip and saw this. Is it fixable? Thankssssssssssss

6 year old daughter + wants to ride a horse

My daughter wants to ride a horse for the first time. I told her I would do some research. Fully aware there probably isn't anywhere in raleigh to do this but most likely a little road trip somewhere.

Anybody got reccomendations or know where to do this in a safe controlled environment for a 6 year old?

Meditation and visual entity.

TLDR: deep meditation, visual entity approached me.

I've never thought about sharing this for a number of reasons - mainly because I didn't think it was worth sharing or anybody really cared. I now want to share this because I just want it to be recorded somewhere in case it aligns with someone else out there. I recently listened to the newest American Alchemy episode with Jesse Michels and the whole idea of consciousness being "the thing" that is this huge overlay on everything else in the world was really intriguing to me. If you listened to that episode, I just want to be clear that I did not all of a sudden remember this experience in the near past. This happened awhile ago, and I've only shared it with my wife.

This was back in 2009. I'm a late millennial and graduated high-school in mid 2000s to get an age context here. Just a few years until im 40. In that period of my life I did way more meditation than I do now. Not that I was practicing it daily or would consider taking it super seriously but I did it more frequently back then as a single dude. Honestly not even sure how I would find time to do it now in life between work, wife, kids, life, and "adulting".

I had this amazing guided meditation app on my phone that unfortunately isnt on the app store anymore. A British dude created/owned it and he had like 6 or 7 guided meditations in it. Super basic, super small, super not popular app. Cant even remember how I found it but the dude made it and added his guided meditations. There was one that just worked extremely well for me - and it was the only one I listened too. I still follow the same "guide" to this day when I do meditation but its just me running through it in my head as opposed to listening to this dude guide it.

I was in my apartment, laying in my bed, late afternoon. Nothing special tbh. I did the guided meditation which always put me into this insanely deep relaxation. It truly felt as relaxed as you possibly could be but without sleeping. I was still "awake" but in this very very relaxed and calm state. The guided meditation was roughly 15 minutes and I'm super relaxed, so I start using other meditation techniques related to breathing and thinking. Some very cliche and what you hear all the time, and some much more unique? Idk if thats the right word but I read about them through online research related to eastern world practices and they were helpful for me.

Im not certain how much time had passed at this point but I dont think it was more than 30 minutes or so. I started (tried something) I had never done much up to that point. No idea if this will make sense when I type it out but I started imagining in great detail what my eyes would see if they were open. My eyes were not open at all during this entire experience of meditation but I was trying to "force" myself into "seeing" what would be in my field of vision if they were open. So more or less "seeing" my room. The wall, my legs, my doorway, ceiling, posters, TV, sunlight etc.

There was some type of "shift"? I dont know how to describe it but it felt like I was seeing everything in the room just as clearly as if I had my eyes open. It kind of blew my mind but I really wanted to stay in this state so I tried to stay as relaxed as possible. At this point of the experience, minutes had passed, not sure how long.

All of a sudden from the left hand side of my room, from my doorway that was roughly 10 feet from - something entered my room. Now when I say something, I mean that in the context of i have no idea what this was because I knew I had my eyes closed and was very relaxed, and this had never happened to me before, or even remotley close to this, and has never happened ever since.

Again, Im just sharing my experience and want it on the record so im OK with someone saying im full of shit here. I know what happened.

Entering the doorway, walking towards me was what I can only describe as a person, and with the only context I have, appeared to look like some type of shaman or medicene man, that appeared to be Mayan or Atzec. I know this sounds crazy but that is what was walking through my doorway towards me laying on the bed. If that wasn't wild enough - this was where it got even crazier. This shaman thing was extremely vibrant in color - like lots of colors that were very bright and extremely contrasted with the rest of my room. His skin, where you would expect to see skin, was not skin color, but just crazy colors.

So this guy is walking towards me and has a damasas spin drum in each hand (Google image that if you dont know) and is chanting. Cant remember what he was chanting but I remember having zero idea what he was saying as it was not in English. He gets roughly 2 to 3 feet away from me - and at this point I've quickly shifted from relaxed > whoa > wtf is happening right now. It freaked me out and I became very alarmed at what I was seeing (my eyes were closed). When he gets basically arm reaching distance from me, I feel as though I am in some type or paralysis and cant move. That freaks me out more and all of a sudden I am trying extremely hard to break out of whatever is happening. I am able to do that and my gut reaction is to launch forward at this dude, my hands stretched out in front of me going for his neck to basically get him away from me.

As this is all happening, and I am lunging forward to more or less protect myself, it breaks this meditative state completely and I find myself physically lunging forward with arms stretched out in front of me, my eyes open, and there is absolutely nothing in front of me. Nothing at all.

Im breathing hard, freaked out, and more or less launched myself forward off the bed onto the floor. It was an absolute crazy experience. Took about an hour to calm myself down and I took a break from meditation in the following weeks/months after that.

That is my experience, and I have no idea what it meant but I just wanted it on the record for other people to hear about.

Help me lighten my pack weight please

On my last 4 day trip my total weight was around 40lbs that’s with water and food included. I used this app to figure out my base weight was around 27lbs, which to me seems ridiculous. Like the title says, what can I swap out or get rid of entirely to get this weight down slightly? (The pack is non negotiable, as comfort is a priority for me on long days on the trail) thanks

Hair Dresser, home appointments

Hello, we are looking for someone who cuts children's hair and could come to our house to cut our sons hair. He has a rare genetic disorder that comes with a number of difficulties - and over stimulation at a salon is a real challenge.

Do you know anybody that does home visits and has experience with kids that have special needs? If it's any bonus, we would probably want to cut our daughters hair at the same time.

Ideally we could work with this person moving forward into the future.
