Theaters are basically in a holding pattern this week as "The Mandalorian" looms. The only smaller, interesting films around are mostly at The Lyric.

• The Holiday Twin Drive-In Theater will show a similar line-up this weekend as they did last weekend. And, they are open Sunday night for the first time this season!

This doesn’t seem like an independent movie, but it is. A flight from Los Angeles to Shanghai goes down in the middle of the Pacific. After surviving the crash, the survivors soon discover they’re not alone and they must survive the shark infested waters.

Special FREE movie Wednesday night at The Lyric! This week’s ‘Wildcard Wednesday’ film was chosen by my close friend. It’s an epic adventure story from the 60s which features amazing (for the time) special effects. Due to the nature of the screening, the film title can’t be posted on social media without getting The Lyric in trouble. If you want to dm me, I’ll tell you the title. I hope you’ll come to this free show Wednesday, April 29^(th) at 8pm.

On Thursday, The Lyric will screen “Frida” as part of their April series ‘Women Who Changed The World. “Frida” is stunning biography of artist Frida Kahlo (Salma Hayek), who channeled the pain of a crippling injury and her tempestuous marriage into her work.
