The Mattapan Shooting Video

So I posted a video from that event and got a lot pushback (I understand why).

Seeing videos like this is honestly depressing. This was in Boston, and the person killed was reportedly from Brockton, which is another city in Massachusetts that deals with a lot of the same issues.

I’m not posting this to shame Boston, Brockton, or Black people. I’m Black, and that’s exactly why this bothers me. These are our neighborhoods, our families, our friends, and our kids growing up around this. At some point we have to stop treating shootings like background noise.

We can talk about racism, poverty, bad schools, lack of opportunity, and over-policing because all of that matters. But we also have to be honest about the stuff happening inside the community too. Beef culture, people glorifying violence, carrying guns over pride, and turning every argument into something deadly is destroying people who look like us.

Black people do need to come together, but not in a corny “just do better” way. We need more mentors, more fathers and older men stepping up, more community programs that actually reach young people, more accountability, and more people willing to say this lifestyle is not something to glorify.

Mattapan and Brockton are not “bad” because Black people live there. They are places with real communities that deserve better than becoming hashtags every time somebody gets shot.

Rest in peace to Jose Dantes. This should not be normal.

Does anyone else hate Anthony's voices?

No hate against the guy (seems like the best dude there). But damn, his characters annoy the shit out of me. I don't thinks it's the characters that are bad, I think it's just they all sound the same. Like a toddler doing a "Villain Voice."

Brockton or Stoughton

Hi yall,

A bit of context I was born in Texas and moved to Needham when I was 12. I grew up as one of few poor hispanic kids their. This is important because I want it to be clear that I don't have an issue on how diverse a neighborhood is.

So recently I just got out of school and I recently got a job in Sharon. There is no way I can afford Sharon. Walpole, Easton and Canton I could maybe afford a mortgage depending on the place. I've noticed much more affordable places in Stoughton and Brockton. I've lived here long enough to know that Brockton isn't great. But growing up I always imagined Stoughton as just a regular working class like place.

I recently asked a few friends about the area and they said "It's a rougher area of MA." I've driven through and it doesn't look all that bad. I know Needham and Sharonites can have a stick up their ass and say "Diversity = Dangerous."

I've found a few decent places in Brockton but I don't know the area that well and I know that area can actually be dangerous.

Can anyone give me some insight as to what areas are safe and which are not. Also if you guys have any other solutions please let me know! I don't know this area super well.

Hi u/GFluidThrow123

Hi u/GFluidThrow123,

I know you blocked me and deleted all your comments because you lost an argument on Reddit. But that was no need to "Trump out" on me. You don't know how hard it was growing up Trans in El Salvador and the threats I would get. So forgive me if I spell "you're" wrong. I am a very proud American and I love this country for letting me be my true self. I get what we were talking about was very triggering and I don't blame you for insulting me when you couldn't argue back. But don't think you can be xenophobic and racist because you don't agree with me. Trans people should look out for other oppressed groups, not punch down on them like you. You are a disgrace to the trans community. Also by the way, I am an American. I fought to come to this country and the only people who say I'm not are MAGA. And trust me, they want nothing to do with you.
