Bad News: Gros Michel Update

My Gros Michel banana came back with one leaf tip in my greenhouse. Started to turn black. Brought it outside as i though some fresh air and rain would do it some good.... It just got worse. Now i need to buy another. RIP

Did I get Scammed?

I ordered some Mimosa Hostilis seeds from *redacted for subreddit rules*. They seem legit and I've bought other seeds from them before. Only issue is that ive noticed my plants seem to react to being touched. Im afraid they sold me Mimosa Pudica (sensitive plant) instead.

Google says Mimosa Hostilis shouldn't react like that. But im hoping someone will tell me it does when its young 🥲

Pruning Advice Needed: Surinam Cherry

I was recently gifted this Surinam Cherry and though it's thriving, I want to make it more tree shaped. The main trunk has branched off into 3 competing runners. Which one should I keep as the main runner? OR should I turn it into a shrub because is it too far gone? Im trying to think of the long term health of a more mature tree to avoid splitting and uprooting.

#1: The thickest branch. Which I believe to be the original main runner has gone too far to the left and is all bent. I could cut the others off and repot it to be more vertically oriented.

#2: Branches off of number one into a more vertical direction but will leave a sharp bend at the base of the tree when more mature.

#3: This is the tallest and straightest runner but also the thinnest. I worry that if i keep this one and prune the others, it will leave too large of a wound near the root base and die.

Is My Cocoa Tree Alive?

My Cocoa sapling has been slowly dying after my acid treatment of the soil (leaves didn't have chlorophyll and i was trying to make it easier to soak up nutrients. I obviously over did it). I decided to cut back the dead parts to hopefully stimulate some more growth. Im color blind and can't tell if the wood is green. Is she too far gone? She desperately needs more leaves.

Is She Dying? Gros Michel Update

I cut the damaged leaves off my Gros Michel banana pup a week ago and I expected some die back but now the center growth is turning black at the tip. Will she survive?

Photos are now vs when i first cut her back.

HELP IDENTIFY!!! Weird eggs found buried in my compost bin

Found these egg shaped things buried in my compost bin. They seem fragile. I suspect they're some type of reptile eggs but the only big population of reptiles around are green anoles. Seems a bit big for them. Possibly some kind of fungus? They were buried way too deep to be bird eggs.

Garden PH help

I used this soil Acidifier on my greenhouse plants under a grow light because the leaves on my cocoa tree seem to be lacking chlorophyll and nutrients. Im afraid I over did it but my probe is reading different PH in different spots of the same pot. I used the same mixture to water all my plants. Will they survive?

Coca help!

I separated my coca into their own 3in pots now that they have a few more mature leaves. I also decided to try to acidify the soil a bit since they aren't growing very fast. I fear I may have over done the acid treatment. But my probe seems to be getting different reading in different spots. Any tips? I hope they survive.

Wind Damage

My banana came in the mail tall and frail. The wind did a number on it, stripping all the leaves off the center stick and bending them. Decided to cut them off and start fresh. Hope it comes back 🥺

Mimosa Hostilis Update: Day 4

Looks like I have 100% germination. I will take the humidity dome off all but 1 out of 4 pots as an experiment. My greenhouse is humidity controlled at 80%. We'll see which ones do better. The garage stays a nice consistent yet toasty 80-90°F and my grow light gives them a bright but not scorching source of light at around 5 ft away at max brightness.

2nd Try Criollo Cocoa

This is my second try with a cocoa plant this young. Last one didn't survive when I repoted it and stuck it outside immediately after arriving. Will keep this one in my humidity controlled greenhouse with a grow light.

It came with a little volunteer plant too! ^-^

Bald Banana! 😬

Harvested a couple of leaves off my Dwarf Cavendish to cook with. He's looking a little bald but will spring back into action soon. It's a sacrifice I'm willing to make. 🥲

Gros Michel "Big Mike"

My banana plant collection is complete!!! Ive been wanting a Dwarf Cavendish, Blue Java, and finally Gros Michel for years now. Finally decided to pull the trigger and do it. Ive been waiting forever for this to be back in stock with Wellspring Gardens.

I may not have the land to plant them on now, but atleast I can grow them in pots and enjoy their journey. Will they ever fruit in pots? Maybe not. But one day I will have my own land and one day they will fruit.

Cocoa Tree's back Indoors

I think my cocoa trees where struggling due to lack of humidity outside. Decided to bring them back indoors with a humidifier and grow light. Maybe they can go back out when the rainy season starts.
