What am I doing Wrong?

What am I doing Wrong?

I posted this same plant 18 days ago and now its fucked. The soil was becoming hydrophobic so I decided to give it a bigger pot with new soil and give it a nice long soak. Now its dead/dying. Now all my coca plants I've sprouted have died and I need to start over for the 3rd or 4th time. Once again, order more in the mail and risk them being confiscated by the post office. Am I waisting my time babying these in a grow tent? I try slowly up potting them in a humidity controlled tent with a nice grow light and regular watering. Should I just throw a bunch of seeds outside in a huge pot and hope for the best? 🙄

3 month Progress: Half Way There

This looks like the perfect subreddit to show off my little experiment.

3 months ago i got ahold of a bunch of bulk vanilla beans for cheap on Amazon. Had to get them because the price for 2 dried out beans in the grocery store is ridiculous compared to what they were selling for online.

Did some research for how much vodka I needed and went out to buy it. I don't drink so I didn't know how big of a bottle it would be. Turns out its a big "fuck you" sized bottle.

Split my beans (I had two of those bags), put them in, and voala. Now i have my time capsule. I keep it hidden away from the light in my closet.

The pics you see are from when I started the extraction to now. It's been 3 months and its looking dark af. I hear it takes 6 months to fully extract so it should be ready by Christmas. I plan on portioning it out into smaller bottles for gifts.

What's wrong with my icecream banana?

It started off with one of the old leaves, which i thought was normal for them to die off but now its effecting the new growth. This mold or decay isn't effecting the more mature dwarf Cavendish next to it with the same conditions. What can i do to save my baby?

3 months old

This is my most healthy looking plant out of 3. Its starting to get a slightly woody stem. However, I feel like they're stunted. Should they be further along after 3 months of growth from seed?

They live in a high humidity controlled grow tent that stays in the high 80's to low 90°F. Good air flow with a fan. I fear that the grow light doesn't provide enough intensity that even partial sun can provide. My other fear is that if I bring them outside they will die from shock like my last seedlings did when i sprouted them inside.

New Member of the Indoor Garden! (Nacional Cocoa)

My last Nacional Cacao tree unfortunately died on me due to too much stress brought on by my own ignorance. I had to replace her. She came in the mail, thick and bushy. Full of life. Lets hope this one survives. ❤️

Can Anyone ID This Cactus?

I bought this cactus from Lowe's back in August of 2024 labeled as "Beaver Tail Cactus" and bought it because I read online that they grow edible fruit.

Years later its grown long thin spines and the paddles are thin and continue to grow with splotches all over it. It doesn't look like the other Beaver Tail cactus I see online.

Google AI seems to think its something called a "Sunburst Cactus" which is supposed to be a rare variety of prickly pear? I mean... how rare can it be? They had dozens of them.

Anyone else have any ideas of what kind of cactus this is? Do you still think it will grow tasty fruit for me one day?

(Pics show its progress through the years)

Bad News: Gros Michel Update

My Gros Michel banana came back with one leaf tip in my greenhouse. Started to turn black. Brought it outside as i though some fresh air and rain would do it some good.... It just got worse. Now i need to buy another. RIP

Did I get Scammed?

I ordered some Mimosa Hostilis seeds from *redacted for subreddit rules*. They seem legit and I've bought other seeds from them before. Only issue is that ive noticed my plants seem to react to being touched. Im afraid they sold me Mimosa Pudica (sensitive plant) instead.

Google says Mimosa Hostilis shouldn't react like that. But im hoping someone will tell me it does when its young 🥲

Pruning Advice Needed: Surinam Cherry

I was recently gifted this Surinam Cherry and though it's thriving, I want to make it more tree shaped. The main trunk has branched off into 3 competing runners. Which one should I keep as the main runner? OR should I turn it into a shrub because is it too far gone? Im trying to think of the long term health of a more mature tree to avoid splitting and uprooting.

#1: The thickest branch. Which I believe to be the original main runner has gone too far to the left and is all bent. I could cut the others off and repot it to be more vertically oriented.

#2: Branches off of number one into a more vertical direction but will leave a sharp bend at the base of the tree when more mature.

#3: This is the tallest and straightest runner but also the thinnest. I worry that if i keep this one and prune the others, it will leave too large of a wound near the root base and die.

Is My Cocoa Tree Alive?

My Cocoa sapling has been slowly dying after my acid treatment of the soil (leaves didn't have chlorophyll and i was trying to make it easier to soak up nutrients. I obviously over did it). I decided to cut back the dead parts to hopefully stimulate some more growth. Im color blind and can't tell if the wood is green. Is she too far gone? She desperately needs more leaves.

Is She Dying? Gros Michel Update

I cut the damaged leaves off my Gros Michel banana pup a week ago and I expected some die back but now the center growth is turning black at the tip. Will she survive?

Photos are now vs when i first cut her back.

HELP IDENTIFY!!! Weird eggs found buried in my compost bin

Found these egg shaped things buried in my compost bin. They seem fragile. I suspect they're some type of reptile eggs but the only big population of reptiles around are green anoles. Seems a bit big for them. Possibly some kind of fungus? They were buried way too deep to be bird eggs.

Garden PH help

I used this soil Acidifier on my greenhouse plants under a grow light because the leaves on my cocoa tree seem to be lacking chlorophyll and nutrients. Im afraid I over did it but my probe is reading different PH in different spots of the same pot. I used the same mixture to water all my plants. Will they survive?

Coca help!

I separated my coca into their own 3in pots now that they have a few more mature leaves. I also decided to try to acidify the soil a bit since they aren't growing very fast. I fear I may have over done the acid treatment. But my probe seems to be getting different reading in different spots. Any tips? I hope they survive.

Wind Damage

My banana came in the mail tall and frail. The wind did a number on it, stripping all the leaves off the center stick and bending them. Decided to cut them off and start fresh. Hope it comes back 🥺
