Found Out How Much Doggie Client Loves Me.

I have been walking this dog, a rescue lab named Archie for a little over a year. His mom was looking on NextDoor for somebody to take him out a few times a week to go to the bathroom and get exercise when she didn't have the time.

At the time I worked remotely and was looking to make some extra cash. Her house is 5 minutes away so a fifteen minute to half hour walk in the early afternoon was pretty easy to fit into my schedule.

At first he pulled a lot and would attempt to eat pretty much anything off the ground. He's very fast and doesn't like anyone near his mouth, so I couldn't stop him. He's become a lot more well-behaved since then; he still pulls sometimes and he'll still try to eat stuff off the ground, but more often than not he'll actually listen if I tell him to drop it.

All this is context, I guess. I went to walk him this afternoon and his mom was on the phone with a friend. Of course, Archie was very excited to see me; he did some tippy-taps and then began to lean against me while I pet him.

Mom begins to tells the person on the other end of the phone what Archie is doing; apparently - he never leans against her. He likes cuddling with her on the couch and getting belly rubs - but the leaning? Only me.

I never really thought about the leaning much. It's something dogs do - and I didn't think it was necessarily special. I also didn't think of Archie as a particularly affectionate dog - he doesn't really give kisses or anything. I know he's always excited to see me - but I guess I thought it was something he did with most visitors.

Anyway, apparently this dog really loves me and it makes me feel really special and happy. He's such a sweetie.

My First Doc Boots

I bought a pair of Doc sandals earlier this year and loved them. I’ve been wanting boots for a while but couldn’t justify the cost. But earlier this week, somebody in a local Buy Nothing group was offering up these babies.

Brand new. My size.

She had just posted them. Nobody else commented. So I took the opportunity to let her know I was interested and she immediately offered them to me.

They’re a little tight in the tow but otherwise fit and look great. Is this the win of the decade or what?

Massage Therapist Recommendations

My back has been killing me for the past couple of weeks. I finally saw a doctor about it and they believe I strained my trapezius muscle. I got some painkillers and I've been using heating pads and hot baths to treat it, but it hasn't helped a ton. For whatever reason, my mind is telling me what I need is to be scrunched and stretched like an accordion and that will help.

I've never gotten a massage before, so I don't really know where to look or if a massage will even help a lot but it seems like a good thing to try out. Does anyone have any relatively affordable recommendations? Preferably in or around Gaithersburg.

Thanks

Sitting 12-week-old puppy who likes to nip

I'm currently sitting for an adorable 12- week old golden retriever puppy. I worked with him once before around 2 weeks ago for a couple of hours and the parents liked me enough to hire me while they went to a wedding.

Issue - the puppy is VERY bite-y. I understand he's a puppy and he's teething but he keeps biting at my pants, my ankles, my hands, my arms, sometimes my chest and it HURTS. Saying "ow" doesn't seem to discourage him and it's hard for me to redirect his attention. I understand he thinks he's playing, that he's only been with his parents for like 3 weeks and everything must be very confusing and overwhelming but ...he's got sharp puppy teeth.

I'm here till Sunday so any advice to help me get through the rest of the weekend would be great.

UPDATE; Pet parents got back to me. They told me about a toy (that I hadn’t seen) and it keeps him so calm and distracted! Definitely going to be using it

UPDATE 2: I think I may have been misjudging the cause of his behavior. I’ve been thinking he has too much energy and needed more walks but actually I think he’s been overtired and just needs to nap more.

Eyesight Changes While Tapering Off?

Hi. My psychiatrist and I are trying to taper me off abilify. I used to take 2 mg and for the past 2 weeks I've been taking 1 mg. I've been a little light-headed and have some issues with memory but nothing major. My mood and energy level has been fine - but I woke up today and I swear my eyesight changed or something

I already wear glasses, and wore them before going on abilify. And the prescription has changed a couple of times in the few years I've taken it. I feel a little dizzy today and it feels like it might be my glasses, since it's a similar feeling that I've had when I need my prescription changed. Is this something anyone else has experienced?

I want to give it a day or two since to see if anything changes before going to my psychiatrist to make sure it's not just a one off. I also have a (previously scheduled) doctor's appointment tomorrow and while it's not with a mental health professional, it's with neurological specialist, so it's something I can share concern about.

I saw that some people on this sub had changes to vision when starting Abilify and I wanted to know if the same went for going off it?

Thanks

Weight Loss After Stopping Abilify?

I've been taking Abilify since October 2020 (!!!). I've been doing a lot better recently and my psychiatrist and I decided to start weaning me off to see how I do. I was only taking 2 mg - so we cut it down to 1 mg for right now. It's barely been a week but I've been doing pretty decent so far. The plan is hopefully next month to go off it completely.

My question is regarding weight loss. How long did it take those of you who gained a significant amount of weight from Abilify to start losing that weight once you went off? I gained a decent amount of weight (40+ lbs) after starting Abilify - (some of that weight gain was okay as I was underweight before) though how much of it was meds and how much of it was being stuck inside due to the pandemic and being unemployed, is unclear. I

I stopped gaining weight a couple years ago, and I've been stuck at around 160 lbs at 5'1' for a while, which isn't great. My diet and exercise habits need a bit of work still, but it has been discouraging that when I have tried, nothing really worked. I'm just looking for a bit of optimism...
