Royal Navy HMS Otus(1024x734), an Oberon Class submarine. This very successful and long lived class of submarine would be on the shortlist of the best ever designed. Known for their quiet during operation, they served in five navies. The last being retired in 2000.
Ethan Allen-class USS Sam Houston (SSBN-609), early/mid 60s. Can someone please help me identify the highlighted sensor(?)

The preserved state of the art WW2 German submarine Type XXI Wilhelm Bauer(1776x1239) exhibited at the Maritime Museum in Bremerhaven.
Built between 1943 and 1945, The Type XXI submarine was a revolutionary class of German diesel-electric "Elektroboot" U-boats.
Built to spend almost all of its time underwater, breaking the traditional mold of surface ships that merely submerged to hide.Powered by huge battery setups that enabled underwater speeds of up to 17–18 knots, faster than their top surface speed. Included a hydraulic rapid-reload system allowing 18 torpedoes to be loaded and fired in rapid succession. Designed with an optimized hydrodynamic shape to run quiet and equipped with advanced passive/active sonar gear.
The arrival of these advanced submarines could not alter the course of the war, Germany's fate was sealed and defeat was inevitable.
