Tension test with Embroidery Foot?

Tension test with Embroidery Foot?

Hi I have a Bernina Aurora 440 QE with an embroidery module. I was using it to embroider when my thread started stripping and I stopped the machine, fixed it and rethreaded my machine, then a few minutes later the thread snapped. After fixing that the embroidery went from nice clean stitches to very messy and bunched up stitches. I ended the program and am determined to figure out what’s wrong.

Someone I know suggested the tension is too high causing thread issues and I should perform a tension test. My question is can I use the Embroidery Foot #26 to essentially freehand a tension test? Also if so what type of stitch would be best for a tension test.

I attached a picture and you can see the bottom areas have alot cleaner stitches and where the presser foot/needle were issues started occurring.

Any advice is appreciated!!

Suggested Presser Feet

Hi there is a small sale of presser feet near me and I wanted to know what were some basic feet I should purchase. I am a beginner with my Bernina but so far I have done quilting, embroidery, and applique. All my feet aside from the walking foot came with my machine (used but loved :) )

My current feet:

  • #26 Embroidery Foot
  • #9 Darning Foot
  • #1C Reverse Pattern Foot
  • #37 Patchwork Foot
  • #2 Overlock Foot
  • #50 Walking Foot

I plan to buy a binder attachment for unfolded bias tape, but wanted to know if there were some other feet I should purchase.

Is Gym Etiquette dead on the weekends?

I’ve been going to PF for a bit but only on the weekdays. Usually at my gym it’s relatively quiet, people stick to themselves and are efficient on the machines (not always the case but usually 😂) Today I decided to go on a weekend and I was shocked at the sheer difference. It was roughly the same level of busy that I’m used too but here were some things I noticed.

- people not wiping down machines
- people leaving trash on machines
- people leaving personal items on machines then walking away for extended periods of time
- people talking loudly on their phones while just sitting on a machine
- big groups of people just talking and being in the way
- someone taking the cleaner spray and not putting it back (they carried it with them to every machine they used)
- it was also incredibly loud - like I could barely hear my music in my headphones.

Is this typical? And before anyone says “it’s because of the teens” it’s not - yes some teens were a part of it but there were plenty of older people also doing these things.

What else should I train?

Hi I am a level 73 Myth wizard with 9 training points to spend, and would like a better deck so it’s easier for dungeons and questing. I’m in Avalon if that matters.

In my deck I have
- All Myth Cards
- Feint (plus the 5 death cards it took to unlock feint)
- Astral Spells
- Gargantuan
- Fortify
- Amplify

Let me know if there are cards I should save my points for (if my level is too low) or need a quest/craft.

Any tips appreciated!!

Rate my routine and give me more ideas?

Hi so I have decided to lock in and started going to the gym 5/6 days a week. My main goal is to lose weight but would like to build muscle as well. I’d like to lose 50lbs (obvi not all at once). This is my current routine that I do everyday I’m in the gym. I’d love some tips, tricks, or other machines/workouts I should try!

This is the usual order I do my routine (sometimes I need to move around if a machine is taken)

Chest press: 35lbs 12 reps- 30lbs 12 reps - 25lbs 12 reps
Bicep curl: 30lbs 12 reps - 35lbs 12 reps - 30lbs 12 reps
Pulldown: 40lbs 12 reps - 45lbs 12 reps- 40lbs 12 reps
Row: 45lbs 12 reps - 45lbs 12 reps- 45lbs 12 reps
Back extensions: 110lbs 12 reps - 115lbs 12 reps - 110lbs 12 reps
Tricep press: 50lbs 12 reps - 55lbs 12 reps - 50lbs 12 reps
Seated leg press low feet placement: 55lbs 12 reps - 60lbs 12 reps - 55lbs 12 reps
Seated leg press high feet placement: 55lbs 12 reps - 60lbs 12 reps - 55lbs 12 reps
Seated leg curl: 40lbs 12 reps - 45lbs 12 reps- 40lbs 12 reps
Leg extension: 50lbs 12 reps - 55lbs 12 reps - 50lbs 12 reps
Hip adduction: 25lbs 12 reps - 30lbs 12 reps- 25lbs 12 reps

Also after all the machines I do the elliptical on level 5 and try to do 1 mile but sometimes I have to cut it short since I go to the gym before work.

I am working on slowly increasing the weight on the machines to hopefully build muscles and I am trying to do training to failure.

I am interested in using a smith machine but I am a bit nervous since I’ve never used one before. Also I don’t plan on using any dumbbell workouts since all the low weighted dumbbells are always taken when I am there.

Will closing my Discover account lower my credit score?

Hi so I’ve had a Discover credit card for 16 months now and it was my first credit card as I am trying to build good credit. Several months ago i also opened a capital one card and have been using both simultaneously. But now that Discover is being absorbed by capital one I see no point in having my Discover card.

My main question is if I cancel my Discover card will my credit score drop? If so, does my credit score just take a hit for awhile and it’ll bounce back?

Judge my current routine (advice)

Hi I have been going to planet fitness for about a month now and before I was only confident in using the stairmaster and elliptical. But recently I gained confidence to start using the machines and trying them out!

I would love some tips on what I’m currently doing now and if I should switch anything around or add anything to my routine. My main goal is to lose weight/gain muscle.

Currently I do (in order)
- Stairmaster - 10 mins - minimum level 3 but will sometimes do 2 min bursts of level 5
- Pull downs 25lbs
- Row 30lb
- Bicep curl 25lb
- Chest Press 15lbs -
- Back extensions 55 lbs
I try to do 3 sets of 10 for each machine above
- elliptical - until a hit a mile and upping the resistance every 5 minutes.

I also try every other workout to try a machine I haven’t used before to see if I like it.

Any and all advice is appreciated thanks!!

Can you embroider over pre done embroidery?

Hi I thrifted a Comfrt hoodie (highly recommend they’re so soft!) but it has a stain right under the logo so I had an idea to use my embroidery machine to cover it.

I am pretty new to machine embroidery but was wondering if I could embroider over the Comfrt logo or if that would cause issues?

I plan to embroider something big that will cover the entire logo (and stain). I could attempt cutting it but since it’s so tightly sewn I’m just nervous I’m gonna mess up the hoodie more.

Any advice is appreciated!

Getting Error Code trying to Delete Files (Windows 11)

Hi I am trying to delete a bunch of files off my laptop (windows 11) since the program I need to run needs to be redownloaded and has to have the old program deleted before it can run.

The issue I am running into is whenever I try to delete something I get these error codes then I cannot delete them.

It won’t let me add photos so if you need any photos of the error let me know and I can figure out how to share them.

But this is the error code I am getting “An unexpected error is keeping you from deleting the file. If you continue to receive this error, you can use the error code to search for help with this problem.
Error 0x80004002: No such interface supported”

I have a Lenovo laptop and can get specifics later when I am able to get back on my laptop!

Any and all advice is appreciated!!

Close my Roth IRA with no withholding rate?

Hi I opened a Roth IRA in Schwab it currently has $1000 in it and I have not invested it so it just has been sitting there. I decided I do not want the account anymore and just want to put the money back into my savings account.

My question is the federal tax withholding rate and state income tax withholding election - can I put those at 0? What do they mean are there consequences for putting the % at 0.

I have no idea what it means and do not want to get into issues but I would like to move my money

Walking Foot #50 Question

Hi I got a BERNINA Aurora 440QE recently and am still learning the ropes. I am currently trying to make a quilt but the feed dog isn’t powerful enough to push the fabric and batting through. After some research I believe I need a walking foot #50 pressure foot.

I just want to double check before I purchase the foot. I plan to try and find it online since the closest Bernina Dealer to me is 3 hours one way.

Any and all advice is appreciated!
