Finally got around to my personal Alignment Compass for Planescape

Finally got around to my personal Alignment Compass for Planescape

For years now, my players and I have defined alignments by plane, as in "my character is NG leaning neutral, so probably alignment of Ecstasy". Takes too long to express.

So , I have wanted an alignment compass which I felt matched the Great Wheel while also being more succinct than "Lawful good leaning Lawful Neutral" or abbreviated as LG(N) (does this mean Lawful good leaning towards neutrality or LG leaning LN?)

I finally built a wheel which I consider an Alignment Compass. Cardinal directions are extremes: Good/Evil & Law/Chaos. I also thought how directions like East-Northeast would translate, and I built accordingly.

This is helpful for me; I hope it helps some folks out there.

I'd like to thank Roll20 Staff for listening

Typically, I am pretty vocal about what I like/dislike. The last few months, I have complained A LOT about being forced to upgrade to jumpgate.

When I went to copy an instance today, I saw Roll20 has provided an option to create a legacy game.

So, I feel compelled to post a 'thank you' since my complaint has been noticed, and resolved.

I had started researching what platform I might switch to; now I do not need to.

How does one find Customer Support issue tickets?

So, I sent an issue through Roll20, got the email saying the issue was resolved.

I just discovered it was not only resolved, but a totally different issue was created.

How can I find the request I sent on Roll20 to show this to those folks?

Dodgers at Braves, Wed 8/26/26, 7:15 PM

I have a pair of outfield tickets for this game as well as a parking pass. It looks like my youngest has a softball thing that evening.

The cost me just over $90 for the pair. I'd like to make that back, but seeing as StubHub is currently selling pairs for $100, I get that it may be tough.

Section 150, Row 23, seats 9-10

Parking is B9; it is only sold separately when the buyer does NOT want it.

Should we be worried?

Braves have won their last 7... but the teams they've played haven't been good.

I mean, 1 vs the Mets, 3 vs the Nats, and 2 vs the Marlins. All NL E teams, so that's nice. But we still have series against the Brewers (1), Dodgers (3), Rays (4), Cubs (5), Yankees (6), Phillies (9). (The numbers are overall MLB record.)

While 2026 started great, June was... not good. And I still have leftover feels from 2025. And 2024 Wildcard series. And 2023 NLDS. And 2022 NLDS.

Am I paranoid, or does it make sense to be worried?

The Curaçao Kid Enters Cooperstown

This weekend's Gameday program has an article about Andruw Jones which is worth a read (I got mine, and my bobblehead, and some pics last night).

I know we've all been saying this for years, but after seeing the summary of Jones' achievements, I (again) ask "why'd it take so long?"

Anyway, I am posting to say that IF you go this homestand, be sure to pickup the Gameday program when you enter as the article is a good read.

Slightly unrelated... the article mentions several Curaçaoan players who have played for the Braves. Except for That Guy (the one we all say "F* that guy" to in our heads).

I am convinced that most D&D writers do not understand scale or demographics

As I work on one of my home campaigns, I wanted to use the lost underground city of Tyar-Besil, mentioned in Princes of the Apocalypse. It is said the city is roughly 31 miles by 16 miles. The square mileage of this equates to Los Angeles or Rome.

So, I decided to use google MyMaps (which I use for non D&D games set on Earth as it is a FANTASTIC TOOL) to see what that would cover. I picked two cities with which I have significant familiarity.

Look... I know dwarves can build, but this seems pretty excessive. It dwarfs (pun intended) medieval Constantinople, one of the largest cities of the day.

Do I recall correctly that this is not too far off from other D&D settings?

Sick & Tired of having to use Jumpgate because it doesn't work the way Legacy did, and I need to post for help

In Legacy Roll20 instances, I can adjust GM Layer opacity so I can reduce the GM layer when necessary.

I've looked at every control, but I cannot find that in the newer format. Can anyone tell me how?

I made a mistake while running a Planescape Campaign

TL; DR: the concept and play of Faction War do not align. The book may not be playable for post second ed players.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've run many campaigns over my 30+ years of GMing, including three Planescape campaigns. (As I type this, the Rule of Threes occurs to me, and I promise that I had not previously thought of it until now. Weird.)

The last of those three, the start of which began August 21 of 2021, ends this afternoon. I wrote it with what were supposed to be three storylines:

  1. The Iron Shadow (Tales from the Infinite Staircase with additions to cover where it was, what it was, where it came from, and how it related to the origin of Sigil and the Lady)
  2. The Dead Gods
  3. The Faction War

Overall, I've been happy with the campaign, despite various setbacks.

  • One player flaked halfway through, quit the game, and went radio silent on all his other games, including ones he was running.
  • Scheduling issues as one person moved halfway across the US, necessitating Zoom calls and Roll20 to bring him in to the game
  • PCs out-leveling the story

I only feel I made one real mistake... I included Faction War. Part of my goal was to let the players re-design Sigil to some extent following the War, but one of the players was aware of the book and had wanted to play it for years, even knowing nothing about it.

So, I planned on bringing that into the game. I used a few other mods, all converted to 5e, to foreshadow it. At one point, the entire table clamored for me to add it. I explained I could not do it without a lot of in-game setup. One of them proposed I do the setup work and run a sequel campaign of just that book. My reply, "No, no no. That wouldn't work because... [pregnant pause, sly smile, pause]... OK.. I am not saying I won't, but there is no promise I will." This convinced them I would someday run it, which helped surprise them when the War started.

Despite that, I still feel running the book was a mistake. In the final act of the scenario on page 94 the book says why this was a mistake: "Up to this point in the game, the players characters have jumped (or been dragged) into a number of scenarios related to the sprawling faction war... they're struggling without really getting anywhere... nothing they've done has helped to calm the war."

While reading the book (multiple times over the years), I missed how exceptionally railroad-y the book is. As a GM who values player agency, I've been miserable running it. And the players have noticed. Some time back, one of them mentioned that they needed to shift their perceptions and goals when he realized the war was so big that the PCs cannot affect it. He said they can only try to mitigate what's going on.

I told myself that the lack of agency in the book is made up for where the PCs get to decide the fate of Sigil, and then the players get to help re-design the Cage. In hindsight: the juice was not worth the squeeze.

Looking back, I would not run this book again. It was designed at a time where player agency mattered less, where characters lacked the abilities of newer D&D (3.5 forward), and the book assumes too much that the party makes specific decisions at some pretty critical points.

All that said, is there anything which can be redeemed in this book, anything which could be used in a future campaign? Personally, I like the idea of the Factions not being in power; so what would Sigil be like without that?

A-List Member Account issues

Is anyone having issues with their account? I had a significant credit from a bunch of trade ins where I had not used the full amounts.

I tried to use that credit yesterday, and the system wouldn't take it.

The organization told me earlier today that they are doing invoices, and that I would have to call in to use it.

I go look just now, and the CR balance is gone.

Is anyone seeing similar issues?

Braves Home game tickets, field level

Good morning, all.

I am a Braves STH (A-List Member) with 10 games left for the 2026 season that I cannot use.

The seats are listed on StubHub; parking will be listed once seats sell.

The DirectSale price shown is for the PAIR of seats (or all 4 seats for the extra 8/5 game). The price INCLUDES the Paypal G&S fee, so that price is a final number.

The prices also include the price changes I made this morning (July 13) on StubHub. Basically, you get these without the fees.

NB: parking is NOT sold separately until the seats are sold.

Truist Park, 112, row 2, seats 15-16

Seat 16 is the aisle adjacent to section 113.

I need a good dungeon

I am looking for a fully developed dungeon map complex I can drag & drop into Roll20. Which resources can folks suggest?

If it matters, the complex is underground and has not been disturbed in a very long time. Creatures will be mostly constructs and elementals.

The complex was originally the seat of a noble family's vacation home, which developed into a seat of power. It has been sealed for centuries.

Any 27-game A-List members in or near my section (112)?

I am in row 2 of section 112, and I am unable to find anyone near me to partner with for 2027 season.

Anyone out there?

East of the East

While working on my Unapproachable East campaign, I’ve often found myself on the edges of the Wasteland, particularly in the area that was once Raumathar.

Now, I’ve read the 3.5 books UE and LEoF many times. I’ve never seen a map of ancient Raumathar, though. Does one exist anywhere? I’d like to detail more than Winterkeep, Almorel, and Beacon Cairn.

2027 season ticket partner?

Good afternoon, Braves fans.

I have a full season A-List membership. Row 2, section 112 on the aisle next to 113.

I'm looking for a ticket partner for next season. I have one, but she only wants a few games next year. I could do something like the 27-game Sunday package or work out something smaller.

I am open to messages or an open discussion here.

Also, mods: thanks for replying and giving me permission to post.
