24F and 27M — Is this normal in a long-distance relationship,?

My boyfriend (27M) and I (24F) are in a long-distance relationship. He lives in France and I’m in Tunisia, so most of our communication is through phone calls and texting.
Lately, I’ve started feeling like our conversations are extremely repetitive and almost robotic. At this point I'm feeling they I'm talking to a bot .Most of the time, he asks things like:
- “How’s the weather?”
- “Did you eat?”
- “Did you get home?”
- “Did you arrive at uni?”
- “I miss you so much.”
- Then he sends me some random/cringey relationship reel 😂
And that’s basically it.
I know that asking about your partner’s day and checking that they’ve eaten or arrived safely can be caring, especially in an LDR. But I feel like we rarely have deeper or genuinely interesting conversations anymore. Sometimes I’m on the phone with him and internally thinking, what am I even supposed to say now? It almost feels like I’m talking to a chatbot that has a list of five questions programmed into it.
So I’m wondering: is this actually normal for couples, especially couples in long-distance relationships?
Do couples eventually just run out of things to talk about and mostly exchange daily updates + “I miss you” + reels? Or should there still be curiosity, deeper conversations, jokes, discussions about random topics, sharing ideas, etc.?
I’m not necessarily saying he doesn’t care about me. I’m trying to figure out whether my expectations for communication are unrealistic or whether this could indicate that we’re becoming emotionally disconnected.
I’d especially like to hear from people who have been in long-term LDRs. What does your normal communication actually look like?
