Why I don’t feel like coming home to Kannur anymore

I’m from Kannur, but lately I don’t feel like coming home. Not because I don’t love the place, but because all my old friends are busy with their own lives, scattered here and there. When I come back, it feels like there’s nothing much to do and no one really around to hang out with.
I’m not an avid redddit user, only started using it after moving out of Kerala. Back where I am now, I actually found some good people to hang out with short rides, random meets, exploring the city.
Planning to come home soon and looking to meet new people for short rides, veynerm chaya kudi at payyamblm, or just casual hangs. just wanted to post this and see how people react.

Does anyone else feel this way about Kannur?

[For Hire] SRE / DevOps / Sysadmin / Backend Engineer Golang, Python

I’m looking to take up some side projects / freelance work in my spare time.

Over the last 3 years, I’ve had the opportunity to wear quite a few hats starting with backend development and gradually moving into infrastructure, Linux administration, DevOps and SRE.

Some of the things I’ve worked with:
Backend: Golang, Python, REST APIs, PostgreSQL, Redis
Linux / Sysadmin: Linux administration, networking, troubleshooting, automation, ansible
Infrastructure: On-prem infrastructure, virtualization, storage, etc.
Kubernetes: Managing on-prem K8s clusters,EKS
HPC: Managing Slurm clusters and related infrastructure
DevOps / SRE: AWS, Terraform, Docker, CI/CD, monitoring, observability, incident/debugging work
General debugging, automation and infrastructure problem-solving

I’m currently working as an SRE/DevOps engineer. I’m usually able to finish my assigned work fairly quickly, which leaves me with some free time that I’d rather put to good use.

I’m not just looking to “complete tickets” for some extra money. I genuinely enjoy finding problems, understanding how things work, and figuring out solutions.

So if you have something that is:
broken and you can’t figure out why
poorly designed and needs to be improved
something you want automated
infrastructure that needs to be set up
a backend/API that needs to be built
a deployment/CI/CD pipeline that needs fixing
a Kubernetes/Linux/Slurm problem you’re stuck with
or just an interesting technical problem that needs another pair of hands

I’d be happy to discuss it.
I’m also doing this because I want to keep expanding my skills. I have a pretty strong curiosity for technology and like getting my hands dirty with things I haven’t worked with before.

So yeah I’m chasing two things at the same time: knowledge and money. 😄

If you have a project or problem you think I might be able to help with, feel free to DM me. We can discuss the problem, scope, and whether I’m actually the right person for it.

Availability: Part-time / evenings & weekends
Rates: Open to discussion depending on the work
