Covering In the Wilderness 🌳 to celebrate my 1 year on guitar!

I just hit my 1 year mark on guitar, so I recorded a part of one of my favorite Gojira songs to celebrate (and in my opinion, their most underrated track). I would love any tips on how I can improve my playing!

Judge my taste in metal (don’t hold back)!

I included two Topsters. The first is the main one, which is a list of my favorite metal albums (with the limitation of only one album per band). The second is a ranking of my favorite albums from the first Topster.

The main Topster is organized by color, while the second one is arranged by ranking. My favorite album is in the top left corner, and my “least favorite” (out of my favorites) is in the bottom right corner. So From Mars to Sirius is #1, Leprosy is #2, Epitaph is #3, and so on.

Gojira is my top artist of all time :)

I’m curious to see what other people’s stats look like!

What would it take to fix up this Schecter? (Read Description)

My friend said I could have this Schecter Diamond Series for free if I’m willing to fix it up. I’m still pretty new to guitar (I’ve only been playing for about a year), so I’m not really sure where to start with a project like this.

He told me I’d probably need to learn how to solder so I can rewire the electronics, which already sounds a little intimidating to me as a beginner. I also know that this guitar originally had a Floyd Rose bridge, but he removed it because he wanted to convert it into a fixed-bridge guitar. I’d also prefer to keep it as a fixed bridge once I get it working again, so that’s something I’m trying to take into consideration while figuring all of this out.

My main question is: would this be too difficult of a project for someone at my level, or would it actually be a good way to learn more about guitar maintenance and repairs? I’m willing to put in the time to learn if it’s realistic for a beginner.

Also, if I decided not to do the work myself, about how much would it cost on average to have a tech repair and convert everything for me? I can at least restring a guitar myself, but beyond that, I don’t really have experience working on electronics or hardware yet.

Thank y’all so much for any advice!
