Why is my bread gummy???????

This is my third loaf and I’m pretty happy with it! Taste is great and crust is great. I just don’t know why the bread has this gummy texture. I’m very new and this is only my third loaf, so I know with time and different recipes I’ll get there but I’d like to know why it’s happening so I can get better. Here’s the recipe I’m using - https://preppykitchen.com/sourdough-bread/

This sub has been the VERY BEST!!

What did I do?

I thought I was practicing the continental stitch, but noticed that I went off the rails. What did I do wrong?

First Loaves EVER

This morning I baked my first loaves ever! I’m super happy with the crust but the crumb is bit dense and it’s not a strong sourdough flavor. Should I keep feeding my starter? I used the Preppy Kitchen’s recipe.

120g starter
310ml water
4cups + 2 tablespoons bread flour

Need Advice

My 30day old starter just started rising. I began with 100g flour and 100g H2O and 100g discard after. So 1:1:1. I’ve seen posts of people saying thick is better and I’m running out of room with my current 32oz jar.

1 ) So today instead of feeding it with 100g and 100g, I fed it with 50g flour and 25g water. Is this ok? How does my starter look?

  1. Also, could I put say 50g each into two 16oz jars of what I currently have and basically have two starters?

UPDATE!!! My starter doubled!!! I took everyone’s advice, especially those who said to use less water and leave some chunks of flour and that did the trick. Now I have a ton of starter 😂 . Since I have so much was able to give to a friend who has been wanting to make sourdough too.

Cloud Bread

I made u/absentmagpie3174 cloud bread recipe and it did not disappoint! It didn’t brown as much as I thought it would and I was afraid to overcook it. Came out fluffy and dreamy. Chocolate - 170 calories, 20g of protein. Blueberry - 130ish calories, 20g of protein. Super filling. Couldn’t finish one.

Discard

Super new to sourdough. Just fed my starter on day three today. What do I do with the discard? Throw away? Start more starter?

I Get it Now

I always wondered how you guys walking over 10k steps do it. Now I know! I started last week with a goal of walking at least 3miles a day. (All of my walking is on my walking pad at my desk while I work.) I usually do one hour in the morning and one hour after lunch, so I needed to add more time on the pad to accomplish 3miles. Once I started walking more, I wanted to walk more, and more. My body just kept telling me to get up and walk. Super thankful for this group!

Smoking in the rain?

Have you run your smoker in the rain? Did it maintain temp? It’s under partial shelter but it’s gonna be exposed to some rain.

Low calorie dark chocolate

I need recommendations for low calorie dark chocolate chips that I can add to my morning greek yogurt. I ordered some cacao nibs from Amazon, and they are just too bitter. Help! TIA!

Elote in a bowl

Made corn in a cup, well bowl, and added broccoli sprouts from my very first batch! Delish!

I’m super excited to get started sprouting. Once they are ready to eat, how long is their shelf life for maximum nutrition?

Chia seeds settle to the bottom

I’ve been making chia seed pudding for breakfast and even though I shake the jar really well the chia seeds clump at the bottom. What am I doing wrong? Using about half a cup of milk and two tbsp of chia.
