Keep Discover with Capitol One or just have Capitol One?

I've used Discover for years now but lately, I have not been impressed with them. Their customer service used to be fantastic but now it's just not great. I've been thinking of cancelling this card for awhile because I don't really see any benefits to having it and their customer service is not what it once was.

However, I wanted to get a Capitol One Venture X card for travel purposes, so I'm wondering if I should keep Discover and have both with the merger? Is there any benefit to having both? Or would I be okay cancelling Discover and just having Venture X?

Any medical students/residents who want to be child-free?

A lot of residents/doctors have kids and my classmates either have kids or want kids in the future and that also plays a part in what specialty some students choose.

A lot of the advice I get as a female tends to be around choosing my specialty/residency based on being a mom but I don't want kids. I do value lifestyle, but that's because I want to travel and do other things. I like kids, but I just don't want to be a parent.

I feel like I don't get a lot of perspectives or insight from doctors who don't have kids and/or don't want them, especially female docs.

Selected for random screening at one airport only

I fly quite a lot and the only two times I have ever been "randomly selected" for a secondary check has been at the same airport.

I flew through that airport a couple of years ago. Line was HUGE but no one got pulled aside for secondary screening except me. I was pissed off, but let it be, thinking it was a random racist moment since I'm a brown girl.

I flew through that airport yesterday and EXACT SAME THING HAPPENS (long line but no one else gets pulled aside except me). What the actual fuck?! TSA agent insists it's random, but I doubt it. I have TSA Precheck as well, idk if that adds anything to it, but.

I have never been randomly selected at any other airport. Ever. This airport just seems to have an out for me and quite frankly, it's irritating.

Is there any way to write to them about this? Because I am genuinely annoyed and want an answer. If this happened at other airports, I'd chalk it up to just racist circumstances or whatever, but literally this is the only airport that has ever done that to me. One time is a coincidence, but two times seems iffy to me.

USMLE to Transition to Limited Testing Dates Starting in 2028

Per USMLE:

"USMLE to Transition to Limited Testing Dates Starting in 2028

The United States Medical Licensing Examination^(®) (USMLE ^(®)) program will reduce the number of Step exam administrations each year beginning in 2028. While together the three Step exams will only be administered over a total of 45 days each year, the USMLE program will expand the number of testing centers and reserve seats exclusively for USMLE examinees at those centers. This exam administration model, which the USMLE program calls Designated Testing Dates, is designed to further strengthen exam security, uphold the integrity of the assessments and support fairness.

The USMLE program has produced a planned 2028 calendar to indicate the number of administrations across all three Step exams. The dates were selected through rigorous analysis of historical testing patterns in the U.S. and globally for each Step exam, along with consideration of medical education and licensure milestones.

The transition to Designated Testing Dates will help the USMLE program better manage factors that could threaten score validity. Moving from an on-demand model to a limited number of testing days will allow the USMLE to better control secure test content, minimizing the possibility that exposed content can be reproduced, shared, and unfairly impact the test performance of examinees.

We recognize that these changes will require adjustment for medical schools, residency programs, students and residents that also use USMLE for local purposes including promotional requirements, and we are committed to providing the support and information needed to help make the transition as smooth as possible.

We’ve compiled resources that will be helpful as you start to interpret what these changes may mean for you and your students. These include:

The USMLE program is committed to transparency and providing support throughout this transition. Please refer to the Designated Testing Dates Information Hub on USMLE.org for the latest information. "

It's so hard to find ideas that's not content creation

I've been racking my mind trying to find passive income ideas or flexible WFH gigs because I'm a student and can't work full time.

The main thing that keeps coming up is content creation, but I don't want to post on TikTok or social media, but it seems like that's the only thing nowadays, ugh.

Delta Ticket Needed for Delta Sky Club?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I'm flying soon and the airport where I'll be going only has a Delta Sky Club lounge. The only thing is, my airline isn't Delta. I thought AmEx Platinum was enough to get in? Did they change the rule or has it always been like that?

Has anyone had success getting into the lounge with just the AmEx Platinum w/o flying Delta? I do have the Delta app, but I didn't realize Sky club was the only lounge at the airport until after I booked it.

Hairstylist recommendations-extensions

I will be visiting Bloomington and during my stay I have an event and wanted to get recommendations on hair extension styling? I have my own extensions, I just need help placing and styling them. I tried a few places like hair haven and fabu hair but they are booked up for the dates that I need.

How to find referral code to send to others

How do I go about finding or getting a referral code that I can send to others to sign up for VC? I checked in the iPhone app but can't find it on my profile anywhere.

I tried to message the chat but it's not sending my messages.

Why didn't the gang ever go to America?

I feel like one of them would have taken the scene from Love Actually where Colin goes to America and gets lucky seriously and you know what?

They would 100% be right. That scene is accurate af.

Dr HY STEP2 book vs shelf notes

I was thinking of buying Dr HY's STEP2 notes but I have one more shelf exam left so I was wondering this would be sufficient for my shelf exam as well? Or if I should go ahead and buy the STEP2 book and the book for the specific shelf?

Shelf vs STEP2 Review UWorld

This is probably such a stupid question, but is there a difference or advantage to doing STEP2 review questions on UWorld for shelf exams? I just saw there are two different tabs and I've primarily been doing questions on the shelf review tab. Should I be doing both?

Why doesn't it show you the actual price/minimum bid?

I've bid on a few items where the current price/minimum bid is wrong b/c there's a higher bid. For example, it'll show me $25 as the current minimum bid, but if I put in like $26, it says I'm outbid.

Why doesn't it just show you the highest bid so you can see what it is and bid accordingly? Instead of just letting me put it in a bunch of bids if I'm going to be outbid anyway

Worth establishing rapport with boutique?

I love Chanel and was wondering if it's worth going to my local boutique and establishing a rapport with them? I usually buy online or go to Saks, but I do need to get some more make up so I'm wondering if that's a good excuse to visit (providing the boutique sells make up). I have a Chanel bag, but I'm on the hunt for vintage Chanel and/or possibly looking into getting a bag charm.

I feel like auctions for some items are just way too long. Why is it 7 days for this random item? I guess for more top ticket items it makes sense but not like run of the mill stuff.

My co-med student on rotation with me had a doctor appt this morning that went over. They asked if they should come in and I pointed out to the resident there's not much going on. The resident agreed and told them they don't need to come in.

I have been here since 6:30 AM and I have to stay until 5. No good deed goes unpunished.

I got my first VC purchase and loved it, so I made a sort of impulse purchase. Buyer accepted my offer and it was a small pick me up for myself. Great price.

But I forgot about the stupid sales tax UGH. I used a code for my first purchase but no luck finding a code for my second purchase :/ I felt bad because the buyer accepted my offer so I didn't want to ghost them.

Also, sorry to the lovely buyer who sent me an offer for an item I favorited :') maybe next time.
