This was just supposed to be my *first* Independence Dog of the day before we headed back to the house for the real grilling. But we stayed at the pool all day.

My 3yo son put down three dogs at the pool. And was asking for more.

I'm still a little disappointed I didn't get the real session in today, but there's always tomorrow.

Duke Health "Virtual Assistant" is absolute garbage

It just keeps looping me back and forth between the "Virtual Assistant" and the scheduling menu. And there's all these disclaimers in between, before you get the menu.

After ten minutes, I just started shouting "representative" until I get a human. She transfers me to the "Pediatric" department, which is ... a menu that directs me to the Virtual Assistant and back into the same hellish loop.

I just need to schedule an appointment. Why can I not just call my son's office. What a dystopian fucking nightmare.

Bits where the group ends up siding with the character who's acting strangely

I love this sketch because everyone ends up siding with the initiator of the Unusual Thing. In the beginning he comes off as weird, talking about steering wheels flying off. By the end he's literally dabbing while they all make fun of Paul.

What other bits have the public opinion developing in favor of the weirdo?

Baby deer found in vegetable garden - advice please

UPDATE: Fawn found its way out to its waiting mom around lunch time: https://imgur.com/a/JX6Tjaj

This morning I found a baby deer in the vegetable garden. How sweet!

I thought it was a little strange because they do not usually come inside our 4-foot wire fence, but then I realized that our side gate was open overnight. Deer are often passing by that gate.

Now I'm worried that the adult deer can easily jump out, but the baby may have trouble finding their way out the gate again. I'm not doing anything drastic, but any advice? For now I've just opened one of the other gates leading to the woods, and we'll keep the kids out of the yard for the day.

I decided to try the hot dog at a place in Valencia, Spain which fashions itself as a kind of American soccer bar

It was horrible. My two-year-old really liked it, and he ate most of it. The burgers were absolute fire, however.

Twice now I've accidentally gotten my wife turned on by talking about meats

The first time, we were talking through plans for dinner. I checked the freezer to see what we had and I said "The only beef in this house is ... in daddy's pants" (we have two kids). I walked away, but within 10 minutes she was in my home office asking for some of that home-grown tenderloin.

The second time we were again making plans for dinner. I said "I don't know what to make with it but I have this loose beef that I need to use." I just meant that it was beef from the butcher and not that pre-packaged organic stuff that I usually buy. But I could tell that the phrase instantly stopped her in her tracks. "Loose beef?" she said. "You have some." Poppers and weird sex ensued.

Am I married to Olivia Soprano ? I have, so far, chosen not to take advantage of this knowledge.
