Is it my technique? The wood? The knife?

I’m brand new to whittling and was really excited to get a beaver craft comfort bird carving kit back in May.

I’ve started out and found it a lot more difficult than I was expecting; looking at all the videos I see on here and insta, I feel like basswood should be carving a lot easier than this.

I have to put considerable effort into carving the wood and it comes off in such tiny slithers. Oddly, turning the block over is a bit easier and I have been able to carve the other side of it slightly easier - although still not great.

Is it just my technique? Is the blade dull? It’s brand new and can cut through paper just fine, and I use the strop and leather after every carving session.

Looking forward to getting some advice on this! I’ve really enjoyed the process despite it being a bit more difficult than I thought - it could be this is just how it’s meant to be and I’ll still enjoy it!

Vintage gas stove > lpg ?

Just began research but I'd like some input if you're not all bots ;-)

Got this stove at auction, trying to run log on it but the flames from the burners were tall and seemed to be incorrect gas pressure, to my untrained eye.

The holes seem small to me, but does this look like the correct diameter? I don't have anything to compare to.

If these are the small propane holes, should I install a regulator to fix the flames? Sorry I just took it apart and didn't get pics of the lpg flame.

Tennessee Title Works?

Hello, some years ago in arkansas I used a small business called Arkansas Title Works.

Basically they did the legwork to the DMV to get me a title for a bus I had bought a year prior. I paid them $120 and it was worth every penny because the title was from out of state, in a different name than who I bought it from, and it was just a headache.

Do y'all know if there a business like this here in Tennessee?

Thanks!

Amish auction score, now what's this do

Bottom drawer has a thing in a thing and I don't know it's purpose.

Also the fire box has a flat steel vessel with threaded bungs on each side. What it do?
