Quik Char on Alfresco AXLE grill?

I recently discovered that you can convert natural gas grill to wood / charcoal. I know Alfresco makes their own insert for conversion from gas to wood / charcoal - but I can only use one and it is a lot more expense. Anything I should be worried about using Quik Char vs the Alfresco insert?

Perfect for my son

This wears small for a 37. But thankfully my son wanted it. Very cool watch.

Horage - Platinum GMT

Not sure I can get myself to drop this much money on Horage, but I think it looks great! Right size, right color... not sure why they went stainless steel on the deployment buckle.

Can I bbq with random firewood?

I have a fair amount of wood from trees I had taken down from my yard. I am no wood/ tree expert and have no idea what they are. I believe at least one of the trees was oak. I’m thinking of exploring live fire cooking. Does the wood matter so much that I should be concerned about using the wood I have?

Edit. Better half is telling me they were maple and oak. And yes they have been seasoned for multiple years. Appreciate everyone's help.

Santa Maria attachment & grease

New to the subreddit, not new to Solo Stove (Yukon). I just ordered a Santa Maria attachment off of Amazon. Has anyone here used one and if so, is there any grease build up issue? I imagine, most of the grease will burn off but some residue is bound to be left. Also, has anyone used the lid as a base to collect any residue? I have my grill over an area that grease dripping would cause significant issues for me. Thank you.

Gravity recommended?

My wife is currently in a ZDX and lease will expire in Feb (but we will be over on miles probably before November). I was looking at Gravity, Ioniq 9 and EV9. I nixed Rivian as it doesn't have carplay and entire family is to connected to apple.

I went to test drive the gravity and I couldn't get the autodrive or self parking to engage. I mentioned it to the sale person and he basically said, I was afraid that might happen and gave me an excuse that it was an earlier demo build. Regardless, it got me thinking if Gravity had some issues. Checking the Lucid subreddit, it seems like it is mostly about people complaining about quality issues.

So to the new to Lucid person, would you recommending "buying" the Gravity? Or is this is asking for trouble. The nearest service center to me is 35 min drive with no traffic and I don't want to be dealing with issues.

Should I just look to the Ioniq 9 / EV9. On paper, I like Lucid a lot better.

Horage collaborations: which would you like to see

I would love to see a Kurono Tokyo collaboration. I think it would address the biggest criticism of both brands. Kurono Tokyo using “weak” movements. And Horage’s styling. And with the use of micro rotor mechanisms, sizing would be perfect.

However, non Japanese movement may be a killer from Kurono Tokyo’s perspective.

Purchase history needed for 222 allocation

I’m new to VC, I put down a deposit for stainless blue dual time, expect to get in a month or two. I also requested 222 (which I understand is not generally allocated to us mortals).

If I purchase fiftysix from boutique, how much would that help with 222 allocation (I don’t mind waiting a couple of years).

2nd, if I purchase via AD (not boutique), does VC track it and could it count towards purchase history?

Appreciate you imparting some knowledge.

Zeitwerk 1st vs 2nd gen reliability/ durability?

Have a milestone coming up in the next 2 years and considering a Zeitwerk.

The first gen trades at 60% of 2nd gen. I really like the hour pusher and power reserve improvement. But not sure those two items justify the price jump.

Can someone explain, how much more durable/ reliable is the 2nd gen movement is. I know the pusher eliminates a lot of the torque issues with the jumping hour.

I rotate through my watches. Thank you.

Running board recommendation - 2024 MDX

Does anyone have a recommendation for aftermarket running boards for 2024 MDX? Went on Amazon, but none of them have any reviews. Would rather not spend the extra money for OEM. Thank you.

First tourbillon - joined the club

Have been eyeing Horage for a while. Almost pulled the trigger a few times. When I saw this come up on reputable gray dealer, I couldn’t resist.

Mendoza wine tasting at vineyards

Do vineyards offer wine tasting without tours? My wife and I are visiting in August for a few days and wanted to hit a number of vineyards and each vineyard I researched seems to have tours which takes a lot of time, not to mention the added expense.

So I’ve recently bought a few batches of Cain five wine with various vintages. Some of the wine was off, some of them perfectly fine. Ironically, the 2013 was off and 2006 was great. But all of them had terrible corks and the 2013 were corked badly, wine had penetrated to the seal in some instances. Is this a common problem with Cain Five? It seems they are using inferior corks.
