Xi’an, China, the village that appears in the foreground was going to be demolished around 2018-2020, now it’s 2026, still hasn’t been demolished. But, back in the 2000s this entire area was just farmland, but the village was still there, go back to 1980s, the village is still there.
The world average is 0.756, the same as Paraguay.

Vatican City, Monaco, North Korea do not have data from the UN.
The average HDI of the world is 0.756, comparable to Paraguay. Only China, Mexico and Brazil have higher HDI than the world average. While South Africa, India, Nigeria and Pakistan have lower HDIs than the world average.

The HDI is made up of four indicators, Life expectancy, Gross National Income per capita PPP, expected years of schooling, and median years of schooling for people over 25 years old. It is the most widely used index to determine development in a country, national figures are published by the United Nation.

Some things to clarify:
The border cities of Dandong in China and Sinuiju in North Korea.
Dandong: tall buildings, typical of a stereotypical Chinese city
Sinuiju: slums, found in pretty much every North Korean city.
