Advice for lowering intensity of side effects?

So for context, two days ago I went to the ER with the chief complaint of slight chest pain and nausea. I was told to go by a nurse at my local clinic, however my doctor later stated they should have never sent me because of my pre existing GI symptoms and the existence of chest pain before during a GI event.

I was given a GI cocktail at hospital, and was discharged with a prescription for Pantoprazole. Ive been told by my doctor to take the medication for 8 weeks, stop for two weeks, then return for a followup

I started the pantoprazole yesterday, and experienced little side effects earlier on, with some nausea and some GI pain coming on later.

Last night the GI pain worsened, and only got better after a bowel movement. Today I feel quit nauseous and the gi pain has returned, with some dizziness added on, which i read can be a side effect of the medication.

Is there any way to manage these side effects? I have an appointment with my doctor on Monday to discuss an unrelated matter and I plan to bring this up to her then.

Planning on surprising my partner with a PC setup, wondering if I picked out the right parts

This is not going to be happening right away, I am grabbing components piece by piece as they go on sale, but I have a rough parts and peripheral list put together right now, and I just want to see if this makes sense. They don't currently own a lot of games, but do often play minecraft, and want to play through the hitman series of games

PC:

Ryzen 7 5800X

ROG Strix B550-F Gaming

32gb DDR4 3600

3080 (unsure of model yet, looking for a good deal on the used market)

NZXT 240 AIO (Will 100% be new)

1tb NVME SSD (boot)

4tb Samsung Sata SSD

750W Corsair PSU (Will 100% be new)

NZXT H5 Flow (Will 100% be new)

Peripherals (alll will be new):

Steelseries Apex 3 keyboard

Logitech G502 Wireless Mouse

Senheiser HD600X headphones

1440p high refresh rate monitor (still looking through options)

Does this look good?

I just had a really cool experience, I just wanted to share it.

Today I was out and about after a doctor's appointment, and popped into best buy to browse for a bit.

I passed by a controller, and it really caught my eye. Id been planning to buy a controller for use in some of my steam games, but mainly for emulation. I didnt even think about if it was compatible or not, I just bought the controller, opened it, and connected it to my computer, and it just worked.

On windows, when I hooked up new hardware it was a 50/50 shot of if I would need to download software or drivers just to get the damn device working. I know this is only one example, but i found it really cool.

I am so incredibly scared of taking my medication.

Today, my primary care doctor, in collaboration with my therapist, prescribed me Zoloft to deal with my anxiety and panic attacks. They talked me through all my concerns, which were mainly about the side effects.

I filled my prescription and went home, and I just cant get myself to take the first dose.

I know it will help, I know that its just a tool meant to help regulate my emotions, but im just so scared. I dont want to become dependent on a pill to feel regular, and some of the rare side effects scare me honestly.

Ive talked it over with my partner, and they are encouraging me fully, I just cant take that first step

Cachy OS - Two Month Update

TLDR, its been amazing, and im never going back to windows.

To cut a long story short, I switched from Windows 11 to CachyOS about two months ago, after I had been experimenting with it on my laptop for about a week. This was on pure impulse because Windows gave me another fucking ad for edge.

I dont do a ton on my computer, I do some light video editing, some light audio editing, but mainly its browser based media consumption and gaming.

Im gonna get the "bad" out of the way first, there are some games I used to play that I miss, but they simply do not work under Linux. Call Of Duty Warzone & Fortnite were ways i could connect with friends who i dont regularly talk to, and those games became my after work stress relievers. Yes, i know i can play these games on Geforce Now, but I dont want to pay for a subscription service, for games that are free. Also, I cant get multiplayer to work for rocket league, but i also havent looked into it super deep yet so I can probably fix it.

The positives though outway the negatives by exponential margins. I had tried put Ubuntu probably about 9 years ago now on an old laptop, but quit after a few hours when my sound randomly stopped working, so this is my real first limix distro experience. I was expecting some challenges along the way, and maybe even some bugs that would break my run.

But no, I have had nothing but a smooth experience so far on Cachy, everything ive tried to do has worked, every piece of hardware I regularly have hooked up to my computer (which isnt a lot), was just plug and play, and nearly every other game I wanted to play worked like a champ.

I got FL Studio running under bottles, and was pleasantly surprised to find out Shotcut had a native linux version (i dont really edit videos for anything important, I make shitposts)

I think my favorite thing about Cachy tho, is im actually excited to use it. I was never really excited to use Windows, i was excited to play games that happened to be on windows, but now sometimes I turn on my computer just to learn more about my computer, and dont run any game during that time. Its a wonderful way to distress from a long day at work.

I cant see myself ever going back, or even dual booting. Having to do things on friends or siblings windows machines actively reminded me how much I dont like windows. Im happy on Cachy, and see myself remaining on it for a long time

Brothers PC will not turn on suddenly?

Pretty much the title of the post. Ive tried redone the GPU & ram connections, and tried to throw another GPU in there. I know he has a arous am4 motherboard, but no idea of the cpu or exact motherboard model, and unfortunately my beep code speaker is fried right now, any best guesses or next troubleshooting steps. His GPU fan is on, all the leds turn on as well

Any tips to make these things work better in the long run?

Attached is a photo of the portable AC unit i purchased today, because my area is expected to get really hot really fast over the next week. I bought this unit only really because it was on sale and I needed something. The goal is to replace it with a dual hose unit in the future, however currently thst is not financially possible. Are there any tips to increase the efficiency of this machine and to make it last until I can get a dual hose setup? I asked my dad and he recommended taping the area by the hose to prevent air from seeping in

Excepting a GERD diagnosis at my next appointment, any tips on how to cope?

For most of my life, from time to time, ive felt very crummy. A cough that would manifest and go away randomly, random nausea, etc, but recently things got really really bad.

After a night where I smoked a ton of Marijuana and threw up everywhere, I was feeling crummy on almost a daily basis, sometimes just nausea, and sometimes vertigo and vomiting, it felt like hell on earth and I was on the verge of tears every day.

It got to the point where the other day I went to the emergency room because everything felt so wrong and I just couldnt take it anymore. The next day I finally was able to find a primary care doctor in my town. I was immediately put on daily allergy medication and daily pepcid. Ive finally been feeling good, but its starting to hit me that I won't be able to enjoy a lot of the foods and beverages that I love.

I love pizza, and i love energy drinks, the two things that people say are most likely to cause a flare up. I love sour candies and just general junk. I cant lie, I am quite sad to havd to give those things up. What hurts more is possibly not being able to go get thai food with my partner because it might cause a flare up, and the little Thai spot in town is our favorite date spot, and that has me probably the most down right now.

How did yall cope with this?
