So I have broken two ultralight Okuma rods. First the celilo and now the spinning A Kokanee rod.
What the hell am I doing wrong and what UL spinning rod should I get from DSG. I have a warranty gift card coming.
Frustrated for sure but… it’s all good. Getting a new fishing stick is always fun.
Edit: got the “what I’m doing wrong” part figured out. Now I just need some good recs under $100 for a UL spinning rod. What are yall running?
On the Okuma 6’ SST, Okuma Ceymar ODT-1000 with the pink trout magnet.
My buddy had his 7’ ugly stik and got skunked. Told him he needs to get a UL setup cuz I never get skunked
So I have a lews Mach one 6’9” and I’m staying on the bay last week of August. Is this rod good for some casting? What species should I target? Any lure suggestions? I have only done freshwater fishing up to this point and I don’t really feel like dropping $200 on a surf rod. If I have to, I will, but I feel like I can have my fun in the bay with the setup I already have.

Took my kids out for some fishing after dinner and my 8 year old was in a groove! These are just the ones I took pics of. She caught 11 in total. Also taught her how to use a spinning reel with my UL setup. Raise em right! 🎣

To those of you who have paid for this repair, how many issues did you have after? Is this a one and done or is my motor gonna turn up with a bill every year for a couple grand? If you didn’t do the repair and traded in your truck, how much of a hit did your trade in value take?

Went out with my new UL stick today. Never fished one before but it’s safe to say UL fishing is incredible and this things going with me everywhere from now on
Got my kid this kayak and it’s great except for that huge hole in the middle of the seat. The poor kids shorts gets soaked every time we go out. Any ideas on how to close this up? Best we had so far was duct tape and that lasted for maybe a half hour before water got in. Thanks yall!
So I was bass fishing this morning and caught this guy on a 5” dinger on a size 4 ewg hook.
I’ve been considering getting an UL setup for a while now but this guy fought hard enough to convince me.
Lew’s Mach light 5’9” one piece will be here in a couple days and I can’t wait. Any good suggestions for lures for panfish?

Took my 5 year old out for her very first time today. She wound up catching 11 Sunny’s, and this largemouth! I spent more time taking fish off her line than I did actually fishing!
I also caught my PB largemouth today. We cleaned up, and she can’t wait to go fishing with me again.

She caught 11 Sunny’s and a largemouth! We were out there for 3 and a half hours, and I had to beg her to leave.
I also caught my PB largemouth on my very first cast with a Ned rig and a nightcrawler.

So I’m pretty new, just a couple years into fishing and my daughters (5 & 8) want me to get them fishing rods. I doubt they’ll stick to it, but for me it’s worth giving it a shot. Here’s my question: are they too young? And why are all the kids rods spincasters? Is that better for kids than a regular spinning reel? Why?
