I can’t take it anymore

I’m 27 with moderate to severe pain at both thumb bases and the thumb bone. I am a server who works 7 and a half hour shifts constantly using my hands, and I just saw my doctor yesterday since the pain is progressing and physical therapy hasn’t been helping nor splinting. I had an X ray and MRI and apparently both showed nothing abnormal or concerning. He said he would refer me to a rheumatologist and said I probably don’t have cmc arthritis or Dequervian’s and thinks it’s because of my hyper mobility. Either way, I’ve been crying this morning dreading to clock into work today. The pain so achy and hot and pulsing when I use my hands but I have to grip so much at my job. I don’t know what to do anymore and I am so depressed because of this. Any thoughts? Recommendations? Ideas?

And this is why you tell your roommates (and anyone they know) to clean your vacuum when they’re done using it

A Roomate was in the process of moving out and her mom asked me if she could borrow my vacuum to vacuum her room and I said yes. Today I decided to vacuum my room today and checked to make sure the bristles were cleaned and the container was emptied and was greeted to a crazy level of hair and debris. Lesson learned: don’t let your roomates or anyone they know use your vacuum without telling them to clean it afterwards 🫩🫠

I’m at a loss, I don’t know where to go from here career wise

I’m a 27 yo female with fibromyalgia and growing hand pain in both hands that began a few years ago. I currently work at a senior home doing dining services to feed the seniors. I’ve worked restaurant and food service all my life but the demanding physical labor and hours are starting to affect my hand pain, feet pain and entire body. I am moving slower, and feel more exhausted nowadays due to the labor and entire body aches. My ability to grip and hold things is becoming more and more burdensome on my hands too. I don’t have a college degree and I’m afraid that I won’t be able to pursue food service for very much longer due to my diagnosis’s. I feel defeated and worried. What do you folks recommend I do? I am already on disability benefits for my mental health, and need the extra income from a job to support my bills and rent. Any advice is welcome. My hands are the most affected out of my entire body.

Update: 1.25 mg minoxidil dread shed

Hello, I wanted to update folks and ask questions regarding the dread shed phase of early minoxidil use.

I went to my dermatologist and they prescribed me minoxidil but did not prescribe finasteride or spiro, nor did they consider a scalp biopsy during mu consult. I a dramatic and random increase in shedding back in 2020 and then it stopped afterwards, but my hair never returned back to its normal state after that large shed event. After I told her this she wanted to diagnose me with chronic TE and possibly AGA, but oddly didn’t want to use a biopsy to confirm. Anyways, I went on spiro after asking my primary doctor but had some nasty side effects like bladder pain and urgency and frequency to urinate so I discontinued.

After showering yesterday night I noticed a lot of shedding when washing my hair and when dried my hair part looks noticeably worse and severe, which is definitely upsetting and distressing. I’m trying to stay hopeful in the process though.

I wanted to ask this subreddit for their personal experiences with oral or topical finasteride? I am nervous to try it due to breast tenderness and pain. Oral Spiro is not an option for me anymore due to the bladder pain I described. I am urging my derm to order a scalp biopsy as well.

Apparently keeping my own refrigerator in the rented home is off limits because it can “deter other tenants from moving in” and is aesthetically unpleasant to look at

Hello, I’m renting a room in a home with 5 other residents so 6 people in total. I was gifted a full size, albeit ancient refrigerator at a heavily discounted price and luckily it didn’t need any repairs at the price it was sold. I got it installed in the home next to the kitchen, and no Roomates have openly admitted any disinterest or anger towards the instillation. I even let a Roomate keep some of their stuff in the freezer and refrigerator.

fast Forward to today, and I get a lengthy message from my landlord stating that they will be moving my fridge into the garage without my consent because it is not aesthetically pleasing and that the living spaces need to look clean and organized at all times. I told him if I can get approval from all the tenants and ask if they have any issues with it, however he said no, that he wants the place to look admirable and organized to new tenants that move in

I’m genuinely not sure how an appliance of all things could ward away a tenant, being that emotionally charged over a refrigerator seems like the person has some issues.

I’m pretty frustrated about this situation, and I live in an area that gets very cold in the winter and I don’t want to have to walk into the garage every single morning before work when it’s freezing cold just to get my breakfast items. Not only that, I’m concerned that the fridge’s motor will deteriorate quickly because it’s under such stress from the extreme temperatures from outside.

What do you guys think? Am I overreacting? Please let me know. I live in MN, USA

Am I overreacting about my landlord

Yesterday my Roomate’s group chat got told by the landlord that they did an interior inspection of the house and noted in the gc that nothing and I mean NOTHING of anybody’s can be in the living room quarters. Keep in mind 6 ground adults live here. They insist that the fridge I purchased was not approved and needs to go into the garage, and that they will be assigning everyone what cabinets each renter gets and how many. I think this is a bit too much since we all should be making these decisions with each other since we are the ones who live here and the landlord doesn’t. Also, one of the renters has a large kitchen rack right next to the kitchen counter where they put all their kitchen supplies and cups and they said it could not be there. They were frustrated with this rule.

What would you do in this situation? Is the landlord being too demanding

I have treatment resistant depression and I’m losing hope

I have failed every class of antidepressant, TMS, iv ketamine and ECT. I was also denied a DBS clinical trial for depression because of my comorbid BPD despite graduating a 1 year DBT program and having not self harmed or attempted suicide in years. I don’t know what’s left, I’ve tried so many treatments and nothing seems to quell my anhedonia or chronic emptiness. I feel I am losing more and more hope. My psychiatrist isn’t available for months and I just want to find some solace and peace. I am hoping someone here can offer some practical advice on coping and what to do next. I was thinking of calling different universities and try to get in contact with a research team. Either that or just admit myself to a crisis center and explain my situation, hopefully they could guide me in the right direction on who to contact for more care. What do you think? I feel awful.

Failed ECT and was denied a DBS trial. What to do next?

I’m a female in her late 20’s who has failed every class of antidepressants including MAOI’s, failed IV ketamine about 3 years ago, and I failed both TMS and deep TMS about 6 years ago. Current diagnosis are borderline personality disorder without self harm, OCD but it’s not severe, ADHD and social anxiety. I did a 1 year DBT program for my borderline and have found it somewhat successful. I had 23 ECT sessions in 2023 and failed. Current symptoms are anhedonia, emotional blunting, motivational issues, and overthinking. I was denied a DBS trial in my town a few months back due to my comorbid borderline despite not having any suicidal ideation or severe symptoms associated with the disorder. I don’t know what to try next. The hopelessness is beginning to weigh on me heavier and heavier. I was thinking I can try pramipexole with anti nausea medicine? I’m currently only on atomoxetine for ADHD and have not found it very helpful besides a mild stimulation effect. I failed adderall, vyvanse and modafanil.

Update: iron level is at 25 and vitamin D is 42. I’m not sure why?

For context I’ve been taking an iron supplement with vitamin C every other day and a daily vitamin D supplement for about 8 months now. My hair still looks like this, and it seems like the vitamins aren’t enough or I’m just not taking enough to boost my vitamin levels. I’ve had this hair loss for years and I always assumed it was TE since it happened during a severely stressful period in my life, but it’s not improved and is slowly worsening. My doctor said they would put me in oral minoxidil and spironolactone but only after checking my potassium levels. I noticed that my iron levels looked low and so did my vitamin D. I just feel upset that the vitamins aren’t increasing my levels and I’m so tired of looking like this every single day :/

Parking ramp prices in Long Beach

Hello, I’m wondering what folks paid for leaving their car in a parking ramp near last years Long Beach Warped Tour? My plan is to get a hotel farther from Long Beach and then drive to the ramp for both days.

I’ve been in denial for over 5 years, I thought it was TE all this time but it never fully improved.

I haven’t had my hair treated by a doctor because I assumed my hair loss back in 2020 was TE so I assumed if I waited it out it’ll get better…..I had kept that thought for over 5 years, nobody said anything about my hair, nobody made any comments so I assumed it wasn’t that bad. Since yesterday I looked at myself in the mirror for what felt like hours and I felt so ashamed and disappointed. I feel so ugly, especially since I’m in my later 20’s. I hope there’s hope for me. I messaged my doctor earlier this morning about it. I feel so scared to go to work and in public now that I’ve realized that I don’t have TE.

My landlord won’t install an iron filter and even said that the iron levels aren’t high but my skin is bleeding and chapped.

I’ve been renting from this house for a few months now and have noticed how different the water feels compared to city water. It feels drying, heavy, and tastes and smells like watered down blood. My clothes come out feeling tough and unclean, my soap doesn’t sud in the shower very well and my eczema is flaring, something that hasn’t happened in a long time before moving here. I asked the landlord if he would install an iron filter to stop these issues from happening but instead told me to rent from one of his houses in the city where there’s no iron, basically saying no, he doesn’t want to resolve the issue. All the other roomates in this home also have made similar complaints about the water. Landlord told me he got the iron tested in the water and the levels came back normal and nothing concerning, but I don’t think red stains in the shower, toilet, washing machine and sinks are normal and the blood taste and smell whenever the water runs is normal either. He said a room in the city home would open up soon, but I don’t know how my skin is going to handle this water while I wait. It’s cracking, bleeding, and very red and feels tough. I put lotion on and wash my hands with eczema safe soap but it’s not helping. Any tips or ideas on how to calm my skin while I’m stuck living here waiting for a different room?

I have noticed all my friends I’ve been messaging as of late have left me on read and have not responded back. This has been an occurrence that’s been happening for a while. I’ll eventually see them in person again, we talk for a bit, leave, then message back and forth afterwards then the cycle repeats and I’m left on read once again. This is really frustrating and I don’t know why this happens. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas as to why they don’t mind talking to me in person but once text is initiated they don’t bother to message me back? It hurts
