Planning to start a small 3D printing business in Cuttack. Looking for advice from people with experience.

Hi everyone,

I'm considering starting a small 3D printing business in Cuttack in the near future.

Right now, I'm a complete beginner. Before investing in a good printer (I'm currently looking at a Bambu Lab printer), I want to understand whether this business is actually viable in Cuttack and what the local demand looks like.

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who has experience with 3D printing, whether as a hobbyist, business owner, or customer.

I have a few questions:

  • Is there enough demand for 3D printing services in Cuttack or nearby Bhubaneswar?
  • Are there any established individuals or businesses already offering 3D printing services in the area?
  • What kind of products or services receive the most orders? (Prototypes, engineering parts, home organization products, customized gifts, replacement parts, educational models, etc.)
  • Would you recommend focusing on selling original products or offering 3D printing as a service?
  • What were the biggest challenges when you started?
  • What are the most common mistakes beginners make?
  • How long did it take before you started getting regular orders?
  • If you were starting from scratch today, what would you do differently?

From what I've learned so far, simply downloading and printing free STL files doesn't seem like a sustainable long-term business. I feel the real value lies in learning CAD, designing original products, or creating customized solutions for customers. Does that sound like the right approach?

Finally, if you have any recommendations for learning resources, courses, or skills I should focus on before buying a printer, I'd love to hear them.

Any advice, local insights, or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Is there an authorized Lenovo laptop service center in Cuttack?

Title: Is there an authorized Lenovo laptop service center in Cuttack?

Hi everyone,

I need to get my Lenovo laptop checked/repaired and wanted to know if there is any authorized Lenovo service center in Cuttack, Odisha.

If yes, could you please share the exact location, contact details, or your experience with their service?

I would prefer an official Lenovo-authorized center rather than a third-party repair shop.

Thanks in advance!

MCA Graduate | 2 Years at Kyndryl (SCOM Admin) | 2+ Year Career Break | How Should I Restart My IT Career?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some honest advice from people who have either gone through a similar situation or are involved in hiring.

I completed my BCA and MCA and worked at Kyndryl (IBM's managed infrastructure services company) from August 2021 to November 2023 as an Associate System Management. My primary work was around SCOM monitoring and IT operations. My last CTC was approximately ₹5.5 LPA.

Due to personal reasons, I took a career break after leaving the company. The break has now crossed 2 years, and I'm planning to restart my career as soon as possible.

A few things about my situation:

  • My previous technical knowledge is quite rusty now.
  • I'm an extreme introvert and not comfortable with roles that require constant client interaction, sales, or extensive meetings.
  • Ideally, I'm looking for fully remote or hybrid opportunities.
  • I'm not aiming for high-paying or highly demanding roles initially. My priority is getting back into the workforce.
  • I'm willing to learn, but I would prefer a realistic path that doesn't require spending 6-12 months mastering a completely new technology stack.

My questions are:

  1. Should I position myself as an experienced candidate returning after a career break, or try to apply for fresher-level opportunities?
  2. Are returnship/career reboot programs (Infosys Restart, TCS Rebegin, Accenture Career Reboot, etc.) realistic options for someone in my situation?
  3. What roles would you recommend given my background and preferences?
  4. Given that my previous CTC was around ₹5.5 LPA and I've had a 2+ year career break, what salary range would be realistic to target in today's market?
  5. If you were in my position today, what would you focus on learning over the next 1-3 months to maximize the chances of getting hired?

I'd really appreciate practical advice from recruiters, hiring managers, returnship participants, or anyone who has successfully returned to IT after a long break.

Thanks in advance!

AITA for refusing to give up our 1AC coupe to passengers travelling with a dog?

AITA for refusing to give up our 1AC coupe to passengers travelling with a dog?

My sister and I were travelling in 1AC on a long-distance train journey. We had planned this trip nearly two months in advance and specifically selected the coupe preference while booking. We were fortunate enough actually, to get allotted a coupe.

Shortly after the train started, the TTE, along with two passengers from a nearby cabin, asked if we could exchange our coupe with them. They said they were travelling with a dog and might be deboarded at the next station because pets are not allowed in regular cabins.

I politely declined.

My understanding is that passengers travelling with pets are supposed to book the pet and obtain a coupe/cabin in accordance with railway rules and availability. We had followed the normal booking process, planned well in advance, and received the accommodation we wanted. It didn't seem fair that we should give up something we had specifically planned and booked because someone else hadn't made the necessary arrangements.

The TTE and the passengers were quite persistent, which made the situation awkward. I did feel bad for them and the dog, but I also felt that their lack of planning shouldn't become our problem.

Later, we found out they weren't deboarded after all and apparently worked out some alternative arrangement with the TTE. However, for the rest of the journey, whenever we happened to cross paths, they would give me strange looks as if I had done something wrong.

What makes me question myself is this: if travelling with the dog was so important to them, shouldn't they have made the required arrangements in advance? We planned and booked our journey nearly two months ahead. I don't know whether they were unaware of the rules, couldn't get a coupe, or simply hoped someone else would agree to swap.

So, was I wrong to refuse the exchange, or would most people have done the same?

TL;DR: My sister and I booked a 1AC coupe nearly two months in advance and got it. After boarding, the TTE and two passengers travelling with a dog asked us to swap because they might be removed from the train for not having a coupe/cabin. I refused. They later found another solution, but acted cold toward me afterward. AITA?

Transporting my Honda Activa scooter from Bengaluru, Karnataka, to Cuttack, Odisha

Hi everyone,

I need some guidance regarding transporting my Honda Activa scooter from Bengaluru, Karnataka, to Cuttack, Odisha, around the first week of June.

I also want to send a few household items/clothes packed in a medium carton box, along with it, if possible.

I would really appreciate suggestions from people who have done this before. I have a few questions:

  1. Which transport/courier services are reliable for two-wheeler transport between Bengaluru and Odisha?
  2. Is it better to use packers & movers, railway parcel, or dedicated bike transport services?
  3. Approximate cost for transporting a Honda Activa?
  4. Can I send a carton box with the scooter, or should I book it separately?
  5. How many days does delivery usually take?
  6. Is door pickup and home delivery available?
  7. How safe is the scooter during transport? Any recommendations for proper packaging?
  8. Is insurance recommended/necessary?
  9. What documents are required? (RC, Aadhaar, insurance copy, etc.)
  10. Any transport companies I should avoid?

Pickup location: Bengaluru
Delivery location: Cuttack, Odisha

Would love to hear your experiences, estimated costs, and any tips to avoid damage or scams.

Thanks in advance!

Short stay accomodation near SMVT railway station

Hi everyone,

I’ll be visiting Bangalore from 31st May to 3rd June (4 days total). My train back is early morning from SMVT Bengaluru railway station, so I’m looking for good accommodation options nearby or in areas with easy connectivity to SMVT.

I’m open to:

Budget hotels

Safe and clean PGs/day PGs

Short stay hostels

Women-friendly stays

Preferences:

Safe for solo female traveler

Clean washroom and decent hygiene

Budget friendly

Easy access to metro/cabs/railway station

Preferably flexible check-in/check-out

Which areas would be best to stay in for this? Any specific hotel, PG, or hostel recommendations?

Also, is it better to stay near SMVT itself or in areas like Indiranagar/Marathahalli/Whitefield and travel to the station early morning?

Thanks in advance!
