I posted a month or so ago about my old floodlights getting fried after being buried in the snow much of the winter. Now I'm looking to replace them.

It's an old house with a large front porch, and these were on the roof of the porch to give supplemental illumination on the front of the second floor where ground-based lights are blocked by the porch. Two lights were all I needed.

Now I learn the the 2nd generation of floodlights have a minimum of 4 lights. That's way overkill for the location. A pack of tree lights with 3 lights is cheaper than 4 floodlights. What are the functional differences between tree and flood if I were to use the tree lights as floodlights?
