Anyone in Chennai who came from Nepal and/or the North East?

People always say there are a lot of North Eastern and Nepali people in Chennai, but I never see any around.

I used to have online friends from Siliguri, the North East, and Nepal, and they were honestly the best! Sadly, we lost touch.

If you are from Nepal or the North East and currently live in Chennai, I’d love to connect and hang out.

Thanks for reading my post! Have a great day or night! ✨

Building a tool for Indian PG / Hostel owners to stop chasing rents & managing daily chaos. Need your brutal feedback!

Hey everyone,

I’m currently doing an operations research project on the "real, day-to-day operational challenges of running a PG or hostel in India"

So far, I’ve been visiting PG owners locally in-person, but to build something that actually works across India, I need to look past my own city. I know a lot of PG/hostel owners (or their kids who help them run the tech side) are on Reddit, so I'm turning to you guys for help.

We are trying to understand what actually breaks in daily operations. If you own, manage, or family-run a PG, I would love your honest inputs on a few past-tense, real-world scenarios:

  1. Rent & Cash Flow:

Out of your total beds, how many tenants were late by more than 7 days on rent last month?

When a tenant delays rent, what is your exact step-by-step process to follow up? (Do you send WhatsApp reminders, call tenants/parents, face-to-face?)

Have you ever lost money on a move-out dispute recently? What happened?

  1. Food & Waste Management

How do you decide the daily cooking quantity? Do you just guess, or do you track how many people will eat daily?

What is your estimated food wastage percentage on an average week?

What was the last major complaint you received about the mess?

  1. Daily Operations & Staff

When you are away from your PG, what are the things that give you anxiety and tension?

How do tenants raise complaints (WhatsApp, calling, register), and how do you track their resolution?

How do you handle police verifications right now—online portal, local agent, or visiting the station yourself?

  1. Existing Tech

Have you ever tried using an app, software, or Excel sheet to track things? What made you go back to registers or simple WhatsApp groups (if you did)?

What we are trying to do:

Based on the data we gather from 30–40 owners, we want to build a dead-simple, no-nonsense operations tool that takes away the headache of rent chasing, tracks complaints seamlessly, and keeps parents/tenants transparently looped in without the constant phone calls.

If you are a PG owner and want to be a part of our free pilot program in a few weeks, drop a comment or DM me!

Even if you don't want a tool, please share your biggest operational horror story or frustration in the comments. It helps us understand the ground reality infinitely better.

Thank you for your time!

I am Siddharth and I used to work for a Swiss Fashion Firm. My Job was to design appealing graphics for the garments.

I stepped away and quit 2 years ago. Lost my whole network.

However, I am starting again today. From scratch!!

Let's see how well I do this time.

[Looking for work] 2024 BSc CS Grad | Java, SQL | Open to IT Support / Entry-level roles

Hi everyone,

I'm reaching out here because I could really use some help, referrals, or even just some honest advice.

I graduated in 2024 with a 3-year BSc in Computer Science from a tier 3 college. I am currently based in Chennai and I am actively looking for a job.

Here is where I am at with my skills:

* I have a strong grip on Core Java and SQL.

* I am currently learning Spring Boot to upskill myself.

* I am completely fluent in English, and Hindi is my first language.

* I have a good typing speed (70+)

I’ll be honest... I know the job market right now is really tough. I know that landing a core developer job right off the bat is going to be difficult because of my 3-year degree and my college background. My profile is pretty average right now, but I am putting in the hours every day to build it up and become better.

Because I know where I stand, I am completely open to IT support, helpdesk, or any entry-level IT roles. My English, Hindi, and typing skills might be a good fit for support roles dealing with clients across India.

I just really want to get my foot in the door, start working, and see how the industry functions. I am serious about my career, I am ready to work incredibly hard, and I am more than willing to start from the bottom and grow from there.

If anyone knows of any openings in Chennai, can offer a referral, or just has some advice on what I should focus on, I would be extremely grateful.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this!

I’m hanging out for the next few hours and wanted to offer a listening ear to anyone who needs it. If you’ve got something on your chest, feel free to vent or just chat. You don't have to carry it alone today!

Radhey Radhey, everyone. 👋

Lately, I’ve realized something heartbreaking: we are all so connected, yet so many of us are incredibly lonely. We’re all looking for that one person who will just listen... without flirting, without judging, and without making it all about themselves.

I’m not a perfect person, and I might not have the answers to your problems. Sometimes I’m a great listener... other times, I’m just a professional yapper! But I can promise you this... I will make sure you feel seen.

If you’re struggling emotionally, if you’re carrying a secret, or if you just want to see if you can actually "bore" me with your day (spoiler: my superpower is that I don't get bored)... I’m here.

Please remember! You matter. Before you do anything reckless or give up on a bad day, reach out. Don’t carry the weight of the world alone.

Nice to meet you. Let’s share a smile today, okay?

Have a beautiful day/night! ✨💕

The Indian market feels way too competitive right now, and honestly, I'm hitting a wall. I have a 3-year BSc degree instead of the usual 4-year engineering degree. I strongly suspect this is causing ATS to automatically reject my resume before a human even sees it.

Right now, cold applying feels like throwing my resume into a void. I am applying to companies every single day, but nothing is happening.

How do I actually get my foot in the door? At this point, I don't really care about the starting salary; my absolute priority and necessity is just to secure a full-time job ASAP so I can start gaining experience. Once I'm in, I know I can work on building my profile, but right now I'm desperate for a breakthrough.

I'm currently looking for back-end Java development roles and my main skills are Java (8, 11, and 17), SQL, Spring Boot!

Besides cold applying, what else should I be doing? Any guidance, referrals, or reality checks would be massively appreciated.
