2008 BMW F800GS with 130,000 km

I'm considering buying a 2008 BMW F800GS with 130,000 km for only €1,800. The bike seems to have been well maintained: new stator + SH775 regulator, fuel pump replaced at 90,000 km, manual cam-chain tensioner, valve clearance checked at 90,000 km, suspension serviced with Wilbers progressive springs, and wheel/steering bearings replaced recently. The owner also has maintenance records from 60,000 km onwards.

What worries me is the very low price. For those who own or have owned an F800GS with high mileage: how have they held up? What major or expensive repairs have you had, and how many km does yours have? Would you consider 130,000 km too much, or could this actually be a good deal if the bike checks out mechanically?

new yt channel

Hello everyone,

[M26]

During the last few years, I’ve thought a lot about starting a motorcycle-related YouTube channel. There are a couple of reasons for that:

  • I have a strong passion for motorcycles and love riding.
  • Recently, I started thinking about how much of a life hack it would be to eventually be able to live off YouTube revenue and sponsorships, so I’d like to move in that direction.

There are a couple of reasons that are preventing me from properly starting the channel. The main one is that I recently moved to another city for work, and I’m now far from my parents’ house, where my motorcycle is.

I don’t want to ship it or ride it up here myself because it’s an old Harley, and I wouldn’t even have a garage to store it. I’d definitely ruin it if I kept it outside. Renting a garage or storage unit would solve the problem, but the combination of an old, valuable bike that could have problems at any time and the extra costs doesn’t really sound like a good idea to me.

I’ve considered buying a used motorcycle to start making content with (and, of course, to enjoy riding it), but given that I’m still at the very beginning of my career, I don’t really have enough money for that.

If I were to buy one, I’d probably go for an adventure bike since I love long-distance travel and riding off-road. I’d absolutely love something like a V-Strom 800DE or an Aprilia Tuareg 660.

Basically, I’m at the point where I’m waiting to save enough money, while in the meantime I’m trying to learn more about video editing, the amount of effort required, how people react to my content, etc.

I wish I could be more productive right now, but I’m not really sure what I can do to actually build something at this stage.

Now that you know my situation, do you have any tips? What are your thoughts on making money from YouTube? I know it’s very difficult at the beginning, but I’d love to hear from people who have actually tried it.

Any experiences or advice you’d like to share?

I’d also recommend checking out my channel and videos. I know I still have a lot to work on, but these first videos are mainly an experiment for me to see how people react and to improve my video editing skills (channel: https://www.youtube.com/@Darley_Havidson )

dubbio esame urine per lavoro

Circa 1 mese e mezzo fa ho iniziato a lavorare come ingegnere in ambito manutenzione aeronautica.

Ciao a tutti,

Buon trekking a tutti!

Looking for a reliable adventure bike for commuting, camping, and light off-road (XT660Z, Tenere 700 or alternatives?)

Hello everyone,

I'm looking for some advice on choosing a motorcycle for daily commuting (about 15 km from home to work) and, more importantly, for camping trips and exploring forest roads.

I've always liked the Yamaha XT660Z because of its affordable price, rugged look, and strong off-road character. When the Tenere 700 was released, I immediately fell in love with its design and overall concept. However, I've always wondered whether it might be too heavy when riding on rough terrain.

To clarify, most of the time I would use the bike on paved roads and easy dirt tracks. However, from my travel experience, I've learned that one of the most important aspects of adventure riding is being able to handle those rare but challenging situations you may encounter along the way. Even if they don't happen often, I'd rather be prepared for the worst than caught off guard.

I’m also open to older or discontinued models, as long as they are genuinely reliable, durable, and capable.

In addition, carrying capacity is important for me (even though I understand that luggage setup is fairly standard across most adventure bikes).

With that in mind, I'd like to hear from anyone who has experience with the XT660Z, or if you have any other motorcycle recommendations.

My priorities, in order of importance, are:

  1. Price – I don't want to worry too much about dropping, scratching, or damaging the bike.
  2. Value for money.
  3. Off-road capability.
  4. Power.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

PRICE RANGE: 3000-3500 EUR
