My body is destroyed

I don’t know if this is just a rant or a plea for help/advice but my body is literally broken from the weight of my son. He’s fucking huge and he is so ridiculously strong, I feel like I’m in a 24/7 HIIT class. 30 lbs at 8.5 months old. I feel like I’m doing irreparable damage to my body/back/shoulders/knees. Changing his diaper is an Olympic sport. I literally put him in a stroller in the house sometimes while doing chores. Everything i do is with 30 lbs strapped to my body or held in one arm.

I’m in pretty good shape (or so i thought), was very fitness focused pre pregnancy. But my body is exhausted. It’s making me be a mean person because i literally have no strength or energy in me. Between breastfeeding and feeling like im strapped to a bag of bricks, i am depleted. I don’t know how I can keep up with his growth.

He’s crawling and standing but praying he will walk in the next few months.

Is there light at the end of the tunnel?

Left over white rice

I have so much plain steamed white rice left over from getting food catered today. Ideally not fried rice.

What can I make with it?

Stinky behind ears

Anyone else’s baby have stinky ears?? What’s up with that? Like behind the earlobe. My 8 mo gets his ears cleaned real good in the bath with soap and water and on days without bath I’ll wipe with a baby wipe or a wet towel, but still a little stinky!

Just us or is that normal? What can I do to help it?

(Idk if this is the right flair)

Named my son after my dad

I had my first child in Oct ‘25 and we named him after my dad who passed away in March of 2023. I’m just grappling with how I ended up in a world without my dad and with a child. It’s like I just woke up in a life that i don’t recognize. I wish my dad could meet our son, he would love him so much and be the absolute most wonderful grandpa ever. I wish he could see me as a mom. He deserved to be a grandpa. I’m just so angry and confused. Fucking sucks to have to hold joy and grief at the same time, it’s exhausting. It feels cruel.

What do I do when I run out of diaper sizes?

Maybe Im missing something obvious here so looking for advice. My son is 7 months old and in size 6 diapers, about to move up to size 7. He’s 29 lbs, ~30in, wears size 2T/3T clothes

Size 7 is the last size of diapers, right? What happens after that??

The main challenge with his size + diapers is the waist side. Even though size 7 (and 6 for that matter) are still a higher weight bracket, the tabs on size 6 are barely reaching the Velcro anymore

Help a ftm out!! Tia

Families without the same last name

Hi - Im looking for advice. My boyfriend and I had our first baby a few months ago and I’m worried I made the wrong decision about our son’s last name.

We gave him my last name for a couple reasons.

  1. My last name would die out if we didn’t (no one else to pass it down, my brother prob won’t have kids, the rest of my family passed away)

  2. My last name is more unique and has a lot of history - my boyfriend’s last name is very generic, and he doesn’t know much about his family history.

  3. We’re not married yet (together ~7 years)

My boyfriend was the main encourager of giving our son my last name because he knows my last name is important to me and feels like a final stake in my families legacy. And I was all for it at first too. But now i feel unsure and a little insecure about it. I planned to keep my last name when we get married, but i never decided with 100% conviction. Now I definitely would, because I don’t want to have a different last name than my son.

i guess my question is families with moms who kept their last name - what is your family referred to as? Like we won’t be called “The Smith Family” at school or whatever.

Should we have given our son my boyfriend’s last name? Or am i overthinking all of this?

Edit: some context got deleted from my first post

Edit 2:thank you for all the reassurance - I’m seeing that im most definitely overthinking this. phew - going to have to find something else to keep me up at night now

Reading to 7 month old

I feel so dumb asking this…but how do I read to my baby?

Believe me when I say we try for a few books a day, small short cardboard books and other fun texture/mirror books, all different kinds. He’s just not at all engaged in it even a little bit, only wants to grab it (which i know is normal) but I can’t even get through a few pages before he wants to get moving. He’s very active and very busy all the time! It just feels chaotic and honestly pointless, though I know the importance of it.

How can I get him used to books and make it feel less…stressful? More enjoyable for him? The last thing i want is to dislike it more.

Am I doing something wrong?
