11 months, 29 lbs & 32 inches

hi everyone! i was recommended this community from posting in a parenting advice community & i was looking for some insight!

the pediatricians we have had are not concerned with her height & weight as they incline together & she hasn't plateaued either one yet! she will be 1 mid June & im very excited! but she is called a chunk by pretty much everyone & they all seem to amazed at her size, everyone but her dad is pretty happy to see such a big & healthy baby!

he seems extremely concerned she is on the track to be obese despite what i relay from the doctors & is concerned with her eating habits:

- mainly nursing still, nurses while she cosleeps with me (i know this is a hot topic but not exactly what im looking for advice on)

- i'll cook an egg for breakfast, she usually is interested in maybe a fourth of it, sometimes a half

- for lunch she will usually share what i eat, but not always interested in solids for lunch, so nurses often for lunch, occasionally one of the fruit+veggie pouches

- dinner is very random but usually includes veggies of all kinds, and sometimes ground beef from taco nights, i'll make her pastas (her favorite) with the serenity kids meat pouches as a sauce (grass fed beef/kale, bison/kabocha squash/spinach, free range chicken/carrots/peas) if i make a 1/2 cup serving of pasta, we make it last for around 3 dinners typically. she will also eat chili for dinner if we have it, she definitely gets her protein in!

todays dinner included 1/3 of the aforementioned pasta dinner, she tried her first colby jack cheese stick, and an apple/pear/sweet potato pouch

if she is not interested, she does NOT eat. she rubs her face and turns away

her activity includes her crawling around everywhere! scaling anything she can, not yet walking! which i think is a big contributor to why she's in 2T these days lol.

but does anyone have any sort of advice or maybe some tips for me here? whether that be what to tell her concerned dad or what i could do to better tweak her diet? i am in the business of feed baby if she wants it & offer nursing as an alternative & i don't think i should restrict meals from her at all

How tall are your 2 year olds?

My son has been on the taller side since he was a baby, but really shot up in height after he turned 1. He’s 26 months and 38 inches tall, roughly 34lbs. Curious of what other’s toddlers measurements are and if y’all also deal with strangers giving you looks in public thinking his behavior (of a normal 2 year old) is inappropriate because he looks like he’s 4. Pair this with a mild expressive speech delay and it’s always an explaination waiting to happen when someone tries to talk to him 😅

Any advice on carrying huge toddler, stroller options?

Hi guys! So I have a very large 2 year old son. As of yesterday at his well visit he is 3 feet 4 inches. He weights 32 pounds. I am unfortunately barely 5 feet tall and am admittedly a little frail. Lately, I’ve really been struggling with him in public. He has a speech delay and has been evaluated for autism twice now but does not meet criteria. I struggle because he will not walk with me while holding hands and is an eloper. So when it’s just him and I then I end up carrying him a lot and it’s done a number on my back. I’m only 27 and I feel like everyday I’m in so much pain!

Currently we use the nuna TRVL stroller and i don’t know if i’m doing something wrong but i cannot get the straps or the middle piece to loosen and he barely fits in this stroller anymore. I don’t know what to do in public sometimes and I’m worried that I don’t have a good grip on him. I know it sounds ridiculous that I cannot physically control a 2 year old but he is over half my size and can be very strong when escaping. It’s to the point i don’t want to take him out by myself and I have to at times. Anything you guys use to help or any travel strollers that work well with big toddlers?

Sorry if i sound ridiculous I just don’t know what to do😭 TIA!!!

What brand baby cloths don’t run so small?

my almost 5mo is wearing size 12mo onesies and 6-9mo pajamas (that he’s about to grow out of). Size 12 mo pajamas look like they’re very long and skinny and I’m assuming that’s because 1 year olds thin out from walking but he’s not near his thinning out era..

after size 12mo the sizing goes up by bigger chunks and 18mo size is huge. Pretty much all of his clothes are carter‘s brand so I’m curious if other brands run bigger?

I didn’t expect breastfeeding to be this physically draining

Nobody prepared me for how physically uncomfortable breastfeeding could be.

My back hurts constantly, my arms go numb holding the baby in place, and I spend half the feed trying to keep a decent latch without both of us getting frustrated.

I feel like I can never fully relax because I’m always adjusting something.

Sometimes I genuinely dread the next feeding because I know it’s going to be another stressful setup.

Is this actually common for other moms too?

Delayed rolling anyone?

Hii. My LO is 4.5 months and occasionally rolls onto her sides but that's about it

We try tummy time multiple times a day and she really really struggles.

When did your babies start rolling? Which way came first?

She's 18 pounds and Im starting to get worried that she won't roll or be able to push herself up via her forearms.

Has great neck control.

32w 2d - baby boy measuring ahead

Hey mamas! LETS TALK BIG BABIES 💥

So I am measuring ahead with my 4th baby. I am 32w 3d & baby boy is measuring ahead at 5 lbs. 12 oz… Give or take with ultrasound measurements…..However, this aligns very closely with my last pregnancy & I let them talk me into induction around 38 weeks ish & she was 8 lbs. 13 oz. My 1st two were spontaneous labors also around 38 weeks ish. Mamas please give your experience with having bigger babies, vaginally, & avoiding induction & C-section. I do not want either. All three of my births have been vaginal & the last two without an epidural.

Baby quadrupled birth weight

My son turns 1 this week and it dawned on me he has quadrupled his birth weight by 12 months! He was born 7lbs on his due date and he is now 28lbs! I read that quadrupling birth weight doesn't normally happen until 2 years my boy is so big he's a year ahead, anyone else? 🤣

Shoes for chonky feet?

I see a lot of stuff for wide feet and that's great but my son also has tall feet? Like the chonk is vertical. We have the hardest time shoving his feet into shoes that look cool but are too flat on top. He is 20 months and the size of a three year old maybe? He's extremely tall for his age. He's still a bit uncoordinated and he tends to put weight on the inside of his feet so he needs a solid base to help keep him correct. Any recommendations? Brands, certain lines within brands, or shoe type/style would be great.

"Cool" sneakers for a boy with Shrek's feet

Hey all- my almost six year old, who has Down Syndrome, has the widest, brick-iest, most rectangular Shrek feet I have ever seen. I say this adoringly because he is the best. While we love See Kai Run brand, the other kids in our area are targeting his "not cool" shoes and I find the sneakers also are not lasting as well as they used to. While I realize this is ridiculous, I don't want him to be any more of a target so I'd like to get him a more recognizable brand of shoes (New Balance, Nike, Adidas) . I know New Balance has extra wide- the velcro never seemed to quite make it and stay closed on the NB wide we tried a few months ago. Can anyone speak to the Extra Wide actually making it across the top of a foot without hanging on by a thread? Thank you!

Booster seat for chair recommendations

My son is almost 3.5 years and 40 pounds with long limbs I have bough the bright stars and oxo boosters that are strapped to the dining table chair and the straps are too tight. He doesn’t use a high chair anymore so trying to find a booster for the dining table with long straps for support and that can last until he’s older so up to 50-60 pounds. Any recommendations?

Formerly big toddler isn't growing

Disclaimer: he has a GI appointment tomorrow and I will bring it up. I'm looking to see if this has happened to other kids and not been part of some bigger issue.

My almost 3 year old son (33 months) hasn't grown in a long time. He was previously always 97/98/99 for height, somewhere between 50-65 for weight. (Bio father is a sperm donor. 6'5, 180lbs. I'm 5'6, 200lbs).

My son has had GI problems pretty much his whole life. Constipation, weird diaper rashes that made multiple doctors scratch their heads, extreme stomach pain that leaves him screaming for hours some nights, bloating even on days he's pooped, etc. He once was so constipated that it shut down his ability to make urine and he didn't pee for 36 hours despite the fact that he had been pooping every day up until then. He was in the ER for 10 hours. That was September 2025. Put a pin in that.

We've done a lot of non-invasive tests trying to rule everything out before moving to the big stuff. Nothing so far. They think he might have Hirschprungs and are going to be doing a biopsy soon.

I'm not horribly worried about his growth yet, but I've definitely taken note of this and have a chart written out for his doctor's appointment tomorrow.

My son basically hasn't grown any appreciable amount since September.

Everyone knows that measurements taken in the clinic are often inaccurate, and his official medical charts reflect that. He'll go in twice in one week and somehow lose 1.5 inches between appointments and then gain 2 inches a week later. It goes up and down like crazy due to inconsistent measuring methods. Weight also does that, but that's to be expected as weight naturally fluctuates with eating, pooping, etc. I generally trust my height measurements more because it's the same person doing it the same way every time.

Basically, he was coming in at 37.5 inches, 29.5 lbs in September when he was 25 months. He's now 33 months and is 38 inches. His weight still fluctuates between about 29.8-31.5 lbs. He's always weighed naked because he gets out of the tub and likes to play on the scale that's in the bathroom (weighed 30.5 a few days ago).

So in 8 months, he's gained half an inch. And not enough weight to make a noticeable difference since he's been fluctuating between the same weights the whole time.

My 99th percentile kid is now at 82.

He's still healthy and active. Same kid as he's always been, just stalled. He's stalled a few times before but only for a few months and then would shoot up. This has gone on for so long now.

Anyway. Like I said, it's not something that's keeping me up at night with anxiety, but it's starting to get ridiculous.

Has anyone else's once large kid dropped like this?
