9-12 month footed jammies that aren’t narrow fit?

My son will be six months next week, he has pretty much outgrown most of his 6-9mo onesie pajamas. The Burts Bees loose fit still fit him width-wise but he’s getting too long for them. The problem we’re running into now is that not every company makes 9-12mo footed pajamas, and many that do are narrow fit at that age, which makes his poor arms look like sausage stuffed in the sleeves. Burt’s Bees doesn’t make their loose fit past 6-9mo it appears. I’m also trying to stay with 100% cotton. Any suggestions for looser/wider fit 9-12mo pajamas?

Thank you!!

Overwhelmed by the thought of being exhausted everyday. When did it change for you?

I’m a first time mom…son is five months old. His sleep is a little bit all over the place but generally it’s not too bad and I get like 7-8 broken hours of sleep a night. He’s also a very chill and easygoing baby. Despite those things, I am constantly exhausted everyday. I had bloodwork done to rule out any thyroid/iron/vitamin issues because I thought I’d feel less exhausted by now, but everything came back normal. I know that realistically there will be a time when I’m not so deeply tired but it’s hard to imagine that right now and it’s really overwhelming. Any advice on how to get through this period and when it felt like the fog lifted for you? Thanks :)

Did your baby enjoy/do well at daycare?

My son will be starting daycare in September when he’s 7 months old. I know I’m exceedingly lucky to be able to stay home with him for that long but I’ll have to start going back into the office, so he’ll be going 3 full days a week. The more I think about it, the more nervous I get about how he’ll do after having been primarily with me for so long, especially starting with full days right away. Just looking for some positive stories to ease the anxiety I guess!

Co-sleeping in the early morning out of necessity—did your baby ever grow out of this?

My son will be 5 months on Friday. For the last probably month and a half, I have ended up bringing him into the bed most mornings between 5-6am (after husband has gotten up for work) because he will not stay asleep in his mini crib (next to our bed) past that time. The rest of the night he does fine in the mini crib. He’s clearly not actually ready to wake up at 5am because as soon as I put him into the bed he conks out until usually around 7-8am. This has been working out mostly fine for now but it’s not ideal because cosleeping safely is super uncomfortable for me and makes me nervous so I don’t really go back to sleep, and once he starts rolling in his sleep I won’t feel safe doing it anymore. Has anyone else had a similar experience and had their baby grow out of this phase? Not really sure what else I can do because he can resettle in his crib overnight just fine, but once it’s 5am, it’s a no-go.

Thanks!

How to get baby to sleep later in his crib vs. resorting to co-sleeping in the morning?

My son is 20 weeks old, he sleeps in a mini crib in our bedroom at night. He was a great sleeper at first but for the last month or so his sleep has been all over the place (presumably because of the four month regression), but he always goes back to sleep fairly easily overnight after wake-ups. However, by like 6am or earlier he starts squirming and stirring in his crib and can’t be soothed back to sleep in the crib. I don’t think he’s ready to wake up though because if I put him in bed next to me he immediately conks back out and will sleep until like 8:30 sometimes if I let him (but I tend to wake him up around like 7:45 for some consistency).

Now that he’s starting to roll though, I don’t want to keep bringing him into our bed because it’s elevated and not super firm. He doesn’t roll in his sleep yet so I’m hoping I can get this figured out before it really becomes unsafe. I also just don’t particularly like cosleeping because it’s uncomfortable for me without pillows/blankets and I don’t really fully go back to sleep once he’s in the bed.

Wondering if anyone has any suggestions for how to get him to sleep later in the crib in the morning hours? He is not sleep trained but we do try to put him in the crib awake at night and soothe him to sleep in there. He’s currently usually on 3 naps a day and windows are between 2.25-3 hours.

Thanks!

How long did the 4-month sleep regression last for you?

And how did you handle it? Sleep training? Wait it out? Something else? I’m tired, boss.

We’re not all doing crazy structured wake windows and naps for our babies…right?!

I feel like I see so many posts on Reddit and elsewhere with people describing their baby’s schedule with very specific wake windows…like “My baby does 2/2/2.25/2.5!”, etc., which is mind boggling to me because my schedule with my 4.5 month old is “my son sleeps when he wants to sleep and I really have no say in the matter.” Like I generally know approximately how long he’ll probably be awake but I can’t imagine having his wake windows scheduled down to the 15 minute mark. He’s also awake way longer than all the “experts” say he should be sometimes. I guess just looking for reassurance that the very specific schedules are in fact not the norm and I’m not massively messing up over here as a FTM!

4.5 month old, long wake windows. Anyone else?

My son is 4.5 months old, he was born a week late and is literally off the charts big in all areas, he’s also formula fed. He’s always seemed to have slightly longer wake windows than what’s average for his age, but the last few days he’s been stretching his first wake window to almost 3 hours. I’ve tried to get him to sleep closer to 2 or 2.5 hours and he wants absolutely nothing to do with it. I’m not super concerned because he’s happy otherwise, I guess just looking for conformation that this isn’t totally crazy awake time for him?? Basically all of his wake windows are over two hours now and we’ve been down to three naps the last few days and a bedtime around 8pm.

Advice on how to stop feeding to sleep so we can ST?

My son is 18 weeks, we are thinking about sleep training because he’s going through the four month sleep regression right now (I think) and we want to help him learn to fall asleep independently. Right now for bedtime we do a routine that usually ends with him passing out while eating a few ounces of formula (not his full feed, that happens earlier), then I hold him for a while and transfer him after he’s asleep for like ten minutes. He basically refuses to sleep if there’s even a speck of open room in his stomach lol. However overnight, we don’t need to feed him to get him back to sleep. Most of the time he’ll fall back asleep with the pacifier and holding my hand/arm and will only actually fully wake up once to eat around 3am. But he’s waking up almost every hour now with the regression so even without needing to feed him back to sleep, it’s rough. I’m not sure how to go about sleep training him though if he still needs that last little top off at bedtime to sleep.

Any advice on how to adjust his bedtime routine and remove that last feed to sleep bit would be appreciated!

4 month sleep…regression + growth spurt + teething…give me some hope!

First time mom, my son is 18 weeks…his sleep right now is god awful, and he’s dealing with what I think is the four month regression (waking every hour or so), a growth spurt (wanted to eat formula three times last night instead of the usual one) and teething (confirmed by his ped at his appointment last week). I know he’s capable of sleeping well because we’ve had a few weeks here and there of 6-7 hour first stretches with just one wake up to eat, and he’s even slept through the night a couple times. I guess I’m just looking for some hope or advice on how to weather this current storm when we are very very tired!

Getting too big to comfortably contact nap but doesn’t like crib yet…help?

My son will be 4 months tomorrow. He is *big*…like, at least 20lbs, and somewhere around 27” (appointment isn’t until Friday so I don’t have exact measurements). For the last four months, he has mainly contact napped on my chest (unless it was a car seat or stroller nap). However, I am not a very big person, 5’4” on my best day with short torso, and I think he’s running out of room to nap comfortably this way. He’s been getting increasingly squirmy like he needs to readjust while napping and I have to keep getting up and bouncing on the yoga ball for a few seconds to get him back to sleep. However, every time I’ve tried crib naps, he either cries immediately, or wakes up like, five minutes later.

I’m not entirely sure what I’m looking for but I guess either suggestions on how to more comfortably contact nap as he grows, or how to get him used to crib naps? He sleeps fine in his mini crib overnight so at least we have that going for us!

How do I handle the 5am partial wake ups without co-sleeping?

My son will be four months old in a couple of days. On many mornings (but not all), he’ll start to stir and fuss around 5am. I try to soothe him with pats or a pacifier but it never lasts, he’ll end up waking up eventually. However, he’s clearly still tired because if I move him into bed with me (after tossing off the pillows and blankets), he reliably goes back to sleep for like two more hours. This has worked ok so far because he isn’t mobile and wasn’t rolling. However, this past week he’s been trying really hard to roll back to belly and is like 95% of the way there. Once he’s able to move/roll my bed is no longer safe since it’s too soft and not against a wall. I also just don’t love cosleeping honestly because doing it “safely” means I’m cold and super uncomfortable for those two hours. So I’m wondering what other options/methods I could try for getting him back to sleep in his mini crib? He sleeps from about 8-9pm to 7-7:30am with usually one wake up around 2-3am to feed. Otherwise he’ll wake up and stir a few times but goes back to sleep with some assistance like a pacifier, except for the 5am one. He does not fall asleep independently yet. His total sleep is on average 13hrs 45 minutes, with 3 hours and 20 minutes of daytime naps, usually across 4 naps. WWs are typically about 2 hours.

Thanks!

Nap training right at 4 months?

My son will be 4 months next week. He’s not on a strict daytime schedule but it’s typically 4 naps a day, wake windows between 1.75-2.25 hours, bedtime around 8-9. Bedtime and night sleep are not really an issue—we have a good bedtime routine, he goes to sleep fairly smoothly and he’s sleeping well with usually one wake-up per night to eat and wakes around 7-7:30 for the day. Naps are a different story. Unless we’re in the car or my mom is around with her grandma sleep magic, it’s basically a fight to put him down for each nap. I’ve tried everything under the sun to make daytime sleep go more smoothly but nothing seems to work. Right now what usually happens is it’s a combination of feeding to sleep (formula) + bouncing on the yoga ball that eventually gets him down and then we typically contact nap. I’ve tried a few times to have him put himself to sleep in the crib or bassinet and he’s actually done it after moaning and groaning for like 15 minutes but he never stays asleep and then I have to start the process over. Once he’s asleep on me he usually sleeps for 45 minutes to an hour, with an occasional extra long nap (1.5-2 hours) some days. He averages like 3hr 20 minutes of daytime sleep and a little over 10 hours of night sleep.

So I guess my question is, does it sound like nap training might work for him starting next week, and if so, is there a recommended method? I don’t mind contact napping but I would like to switch him to mainly crib naps soon. Knowing I have to battle him to sleep four times a day is getting really mentally taxing.

Thanks :)

When did you start introducing solids to your big hungry baby?

Of course we will follow the advice of our pediatrician, but I’m just curious to hear from other parents who had very big and very hungry babies about when they started solids and how it went!

My son has his four month appointment in early June—I don’t think he’s ready at all yet based on head/neck control still strengthening, but I also can’t imagine we’ll make it to six months without starting to introduce other foods. He’s definitely interested!

Does anyone have the Delta Lee mini crib? Or other recommendations?

My son is very big and he’s going to outgrow his bassinet very soon…he’s only 14 weeks and I’d like to keep him in our room until at least 6 months so I’m looking at mini cribs. Does anyone have the Delta Lee mini crib that could tell me if you like it or not? The reviews are good but $99 seems too good to be true!

Tell me about your nap time routines!

First time mom…son is 14 weeks. We have a pretty solid bedtime routine down but I can’t really seem to figure out naps. They always seem to be a struggle unless it’s a car nap. I’ve tried extending and shortening his wake windows but it doesn’t seem to matter. Most naps right now are contact naps and once he’s out he sleeps really well…but getting him to sleep usually involves a bottle and copious amounts of yoga ball bouncing with him trying to squirm away. If I try to skip the bottle he wants nothing to do with sleep. Anyway…any tips from seasoned parents for a routine that might help a bit? My arms need a break from holding him during all the bouncing!

When did you get used to functioning while exhausted?

I know that *not* being tired is a far off pipe dream, so instead I’ll ask—when did the feeling of being completely exhausted stop being at the forefront of your mind all day?

Son is 14 weeks today, sleep is up and down, so even with some good nights I never really have a chance to recover fully. I feel like I’m getting my feet under me a lot more as a parent lately but the feeling of being constantly tired is definitely my biggest struggle!

Postpartum workout recommendations

I gave birth a little over three months ago—I was cleared to start getting back into workouts about six weeks ago but between the exhaustion and baby care I’ve mainly been sticking to walking and just short workouts that I can do quickly (like reps of push ups and squats, etc.)—nothing class based. I also just didn’t really feel ready physically to do anything more serious than that until now.

I’m curious if anyone found any particular classes or routines that they enjoyed postpartum? For context, I’m mainly looking for strength workouts (pilates/barre too) and tread classes, and nothing intense since I am basically starting from scratch!

Thanks :)

I feel like all I see online is people posting about how at 12 weeks, their baby started sleeping through the night. Meanwhile I’m at 13 weeks with my son still waking up at least twice to eat, and a multitude of other partial wake ups due to gas or just generally being unsettled, and I can’t help feeling jealous. Anyone want to share their stories so that I can feel like this is totally normal and don’t need to feel like I’m doing something wrong?!

My son is 13 weeks old—very happy and healthy guy. His sleep is a mess right now but otherwise no complaints. He’s definitely an “easy” baby during the day. My husband just went back to work after 12 weeks off though and I’m struggling with the transition of being the only one home with the baby during the day. I love being with him, it just feels a tad overwhelming knowing that I have to fill every day with him mostly on my own, especially at this phase when he isn’t mobile or able to play independently at all really. I’m really lucky to be off work for like two more months so any advice/tips on how to fill the days and move past the overwhelmed feeling would be super appreciated!
