Hi everyone - I'm a Bloomberg News reporter (who actually grew up in South Jersey). I'm working on a story about the cost of living in the suburbs and exurbs of New York and Philadelphia.

Did you leave either Philadelphia or New York City, at least in part to try and save on cost of living? (Very close suburbs like Hoboken/Jersey City count as the city proper for this story.) How has that worked out for you? What things were more or less costly than you anticipated? Did you make the right choice?

Occasional (journalist) lurker on this sub -- while it's not a scientific survey, I will say that some of the concerns I see here daily about sexism in the workplace on average appear much worse than those I hear in industries like finance, consulting, etc...

Anyway, figured I'd share this story on the decline in women-specific scholarships in the hopes that it might further your conversation. Are dedicated, women-only scholarships really important in encouraging people to pursue STEM careers?
