My thoughts about why Donghua is struggling to grow in the west in popularity

I have been wondering why Donghua has been struggling abroad so much and I got a few theories. Feel free to debunk me, as I am open to criticism.

  1. Chinese companies and crunchyroll fail to put in enough advertisements to build up the hype.

  2. Many Chinese anime are considered low quality or weird visually due to the use of 3d models for characters and backgrounds. It makes it feel cheap.

  3. Chinese companies don't invest enough into foreign audiences, leading to poor voice acting and lack of quality English/Japanese dubs.

  4. China is very strict with IPs, making it hard to make edits and show them on social media platforms. This suppresses organic advertisement, and prevents big YouTubers from doing reaction videos to the content.

  5. Alot of projects tend to lean to less serious art style and writing style for some reason, preferring more chibi Vs more realistic art styles like Release that Witch. This makes it hard for them to differentiate themselves from Japanese anime that saturated this artstyle market already and people would prefer familiar voiceover and setting over something new like Donghua.

Perhaps there are some things I missed or misinterpreted, please let me know your opinion! (I Apologise in advance if I had offended anyone)

Rewatched the anime again! And Enjoyed It Just as much as before! Perhaps maybe even more!

Just Binged all 8 episodes In a row. It flows so well!!! A masterpiece in its finest! God I hope they secure the funding for season! I heard others say that there are talks for investment apparently? And we also had that poll about season 2. Plus the amazing performance of the anime on Bilibili! I really hope that is enough to secure more funding and give greenlight for the studio to continue Production!

Are these to channels related or not?

Came across a political/economic YouTube channel called MyGap and another called TheResearcher. Both look similar in style, except one is in Russian and another in English. But neither has confirmed whether they own the other channel.

Does anyone know about UkStsrtupHub?

I received this email about an event in my city hosted by UkStartupHub. And I am curious whether such a "founders" meetup is worth it? Especially considering that they are charging startups £5 per entry. Is that a normal thing or just another scam?

Guys the company has posted a poll on Twitter/X, where they are asking if we want season 2 of release that witch. So we need more people to vote on it. There is only 1 day left... It would be really nice if we could get some help! The anime is an isekai of an Engineer into a prince. He is in charge of a small border town that's really underdeveloped. He is forced to compete for the throne while surviving assassination attempts, developing the town, going to war with local powers, fending of the demons, being threatened by the church and so on. He brings modern technologies by trying to industrialise the town. To do that, he saves a witch from being hanged who has fire abilities, and uses her power as a furnace for stuff like guns/cement. There is so much to the story, so we really want another season or two... Would appreciate your help!

But the account name of the company that's running the poll is OfficialYuewen

Honestly glad they are responding to the community. Personally I only signed the petition and emailed Yuewen asking them for season 2. But It seems like it was much quicker to get response from them on twitter/X!
