Help, Mattress for Chronic Pain

Looking for mattress for someone with chronic pain, tried so many brands at store, nothing seemed like it'd work. Granted all the store models are generally in medium so...I'm not sure if a plush model of anything might work, but

Tried:
Leesa/Helix/Nectar/Brooklyn Bedding/Tempurpedic (all models)/Stearns and Foster/Purple/etc.

All of them have at least one problem:

Either:

  1. Too much back pain

  2. Too little sinkage for the hips (she has big hips, so she doesn't want to be lifted up)

  3. Too hard of rim on the edge of bed (irritating)

Not sure what to do. Thanks so much!

Inspire Surgery for UARS?

has anyone here tried inspire? I know it’s usually difficult to pass the 15 AHI threshold they usually want for Inspire but I’m curious if anyone’s tried it (by either getting 15 AHI somehow or paying out of pocket)

If so, has anyone had success with it?

Thanks so much.

Are Mattresses Worse Today?

i can’t verify this but I’m reading in multiple places that the big mattress companies are cheapening out on materials to make them last shorter so people have to buy mattresses more often. is this true?

if so, how do you find a mattress that’s good that’ll last? i liked the Serta icomfort hybrid applause II plush mattress ten years ago but I don’t know if Serta or any other company manufactures something like it anymore.

any suggestions would be great.

Seeking Plush Mattress for someone with disability

Looking for a mattress that works for someone with a disability.

Currently shes trialing a Leesa legend chill hybrid for a number of months now, and the company already generously extended her trial period. she has 48 hours left to decide whether to keep it

Problem is she’s disabled, so a mattress that may be ”good enough” for some is risky for her. she has knee pain, lower back pain, and chronic pain in general She says it’s like a 7/10 mattress for her overall, some days being a 9/10 and some days being a 5/10. Her biggest fear is that it’ll worsen over time

Basically, she wishes it didn’t have a rim on the sides and she wishes it was a little more plush with less coil support. But not sure if that warrants swapping mattresses. She’s trying out mattress toppers but its a tough call if that moves the needle enough, and sadly there’s only 48 hours more to decide.

The mattress is 13.5 inches high and she wouldn’t want to go much lower or higher due to knee pain (and is concerned a box spring might create an unforeseen issue)

Alt Colors Game On

Played around with some color options for yellow, purple, white 🙂. Trying to keep the conversation light here so for feedback on the colors of the month that’s better suited to another topic or through feedback to the developers. But it was me trying to be creative 😅

MARPE design w Dr Newaz?

Does anyone know if he uses the MARPE design with arms or without? (not talking about FME)

Most other practitioners I’ve seen use the MARPE with arms hence why I was curious

Piezo Cut?

I'm hearing different things from different people- is the piezo cut necessary for males in their mid 30s or no?

Also, there are different ways of performing it: Piezo dots versus a full cut. Any downsides for doing it?

Piezo cut versus no piezo cut?

does it matter based on age or gender? or is it more to do with skeletal structure?

one provider wants to do piezo one wants to use arms instead. I wish I knew more.

FME - why the hype?

so FME is three times the price of MARPE so I’d be curious what the hype is about.

  1. how do aesthetics compare?

  2. how does expansion compare?

Any other metrics to consider? because money is tight for me and FME would only be worth it if there’s a notable benefit for doing so

thanks so much.

Posterior Expansion : MARPE vs FME

Quick question: If I’m looking to primarily expand in the posterior of my mouth (the back third) is FME the best option for that? Or is MARPE able to achieve that just as well?  thanks a lot

Marpe with Arms vs Without (pros/cons?)

what are the pros and cons?

I have one provider who uses arms to help the suture split and then removes the arms after three months. another provider skips the arms and just does a piezo cut.

what are the pros and cons to both approaches?
