Why the next time we see joker, he needs to have the classic look and feel

When the dark knight did the messier joker look, with the scars, it was very cool, and is still very cool, because we had not seen it before. But now it has been 36 years since we have seen the clean cut classic joker in live action, and I want that joker to be done again.

The thing about jokers look, is that it completely fits in any universe, no matter how grounded, or how fantastical, I mean, its a clown, clowns exist in real life. And also, let him be loud, let him be zany. The great thing about the joker is the dark humor.

Mark hamills joker should be the blueprint, not heaths. Nolan and heath absolutely cooked and made an absolutely perfect joker with their own unique spin on the character, but that's something only those 2 working in tandem could pull off imo. So what we have gotten is now 4 directors (if you include reeves brief take on the character) who have tried to do their own, typically grounded, spin on the joker and its just doesnt hold a candle to heath and Nolan. And they have strayed so far from the classic joker at this point I dont even feel like im watching the same character. Heaths look, tone, and voice was a big shift, but it was still clearly the joker. intelligent, quick witted, very funny, cruel. Everything you need.

Essentially, im saying that if doing what is harder (making your own "new and creative" spin on the joker) is not working out, and it hasn't since 2008. Then follow the blueprint that was made by the comics, jack Nicholson, and specifically mark Hamill instead. Also i will say I love the first pheonix joker movie. I think its a great movie and a great performance, but holy crap is that character not the joker in any way shape or form

Nolan next movie should be a horror/thriller in the vein of black mirror

I think he wants to do horror. Im imagining something like white Christmas in tone, with sci-fi and tech being a massive storytelling device. I think it would keep its mass appeal this way. And seems right up his ally

not sure if this is a good place to post, but having massive frame rate issues on pc

i have an rtx 4070, and despite only utilizing half of the "vram usage" it still caps out fps around 110 fps. When i first redownloaded the game it was caping under 90, watched a couple videos and did some random setting changes and cache clearing on the PC and got it up to 110, but still seems to be underperforming. anyone else had this issue? is there a setting other than dlss that can fix it or something with the PC i am missing?

Its hilarious to me that the vikings having a backup qb in is just normalized at this point

It seems the other fanbases have just completely normalized the vikings having a backup qb now. The bears fans coping so hard about how "they would have won if Caleb didnt get injured for 1 single drive". As if the vikings didnt have a backup qb for the entire game.

Since we have had to use a backup qb for so many games over the past 3 years. It really does just feel like other fanbases dont think that its a hinderence to us.

This new notion that the dark knight is only good because of the Joker

This take has really gained some steam over the last few years, and I just cant comprehend it. While yes, heath as the joker absolutely elevates the movie, as any good villain should, there is so much more going on here.

The interactions between the trio (batman, dent, gordon) are phenomenal as they stretch the rules to try and get ahead in this game of cat and mouse they've been roped into by joker and the mob. And the arc of this trio ends the movie perfectly, in what i think is the best scene in the movie, the three of them playing a game of chance in the place where rachel died. It was the killing joke brought to the big screen, except in this version the joker actually proves his "one bad day" point.

Gordon is better than ever in this movie. Bruce himself goes through an incredible arc as he struggles with the fact of what he would have to become morally to stop the joker. And learns that perhaps batman isnt the answer to save Gotham.

At the end of the day, the joker is only onscreen for 14 minutes of this movie. Of course his presence is felt every second of the movie, but there is 2 more hours of incredible movie aside from him being on screen. There is never a dull moment in my opinion, so I guess I just dont know why or even how this narrative exists. Its one thing to not like the movie, its another thing to say "if the joker wasnt in it, it would suck" well duh, if there's no villain there's no story. If its a different villain than its a completely different story. You could say that about and movie.

Is shadow ban lobbies still a thing?

MwIII was the last call of duty, where on launch I dedicated time to actually getting good, committing to the movement bro tech on mouse and key board, I actually got really good. So good where i was actually melting lobbies consistently despite sbmm. But then i realised all of the sudden every lobby I was in was filled with hackers.

So i looked it up and learned that I had received enough reports to get automatically shadow banned, that lasts a week (or 2 weeks? I cant remember) And the wonderful thing about shadow ban lobbies at least for mw3, is that anytime you recieve a single other report, your shadow ban timer resets. So, that means that when everyone is just mass reporting lobbies because half of the lobby are actual hackers, your timer resets.

Remember that this was during launch, so not a fun time at all to be put in this situation. And reddit said "you bassically just have to wait out the timer without playing or you'll never get out" so I had to literally stop playing for the entire 2 weeks. By the time I came back a lot of my friends wernt playing as much anymore (we are uncs). The hype of launch was dying down as the game was now out for about a month. And I decided to get a refund. But yes I waited til after my shadow ban ended so people couldnt say that I was hacking. I never got banned. I have never done any sort of hacking other than WaW zombies where some random dude was in my lobby on der riese with God hacks and he gave me all of the achievements in the game (I was 10 lol)

Bassically, I think this is a game ruining mechanic if you find yourself in this situation. The fact that there is a feature that bassically makes the game unplayable for that long is absurd

So Common is #2?

The 4th in the north is (according to common) 2nd in the north now. I didnt think id ever see it.

What do you think has caused this rise in the ratings after so many years? Ive never consistently listened to bumper to bumper. I used to love PA but something changed with PA during the tail end of the zimmer years. It seems like he hated the fanbase for turning on Zim. It seemed like he thought he was above everyone else because of that. He stopped giving any strong opinion on the vikings, he stopped true vikings deep dives. Football feast used to be my favorite thing on kfan. Now, eh?

Then there's common. He gets better everytime you listen to him. His humor and bits grow on you. I think he is the most impressive broadcaster of the entire station. Able to talk about pretty much nothing and make it entertaining for 3 hours. But again, never thought that common in the time slot he was at after all these years would jump the other 2. So whay reasons do you think?

Gold VS SZNZ

After having listened to gold on repeat for awhile now, I have some thoughts on seasons in retrospect.

Gold is a very solid album. But honestly, i think a lot of the songs sound like something that could have been on seasons. It just has better production, and it felt like they spent more time on each song to flesh them out. And condensed into a nice, concise, carefully crafted 10 track album. Really makes me wish seasons released as 16 track album, with 4 parts (each season) and wish they took the time to really flesh out those 16 songs to give them the depth i think they are missing. I think seasons had a lot of potential, but felt like "more is less".

The old argument about "nolan cant write female characters" and where it came from

I saw a post about nolans best female characters, and the OP mentioned that nolan catches flack for this. But I honestly dont think that this stigma about nolan was ever true, and I dont think people even make this argument anymore.

The argument stemmed from interstellar, back when it first came out. A lot of people didnt like/understand the purpose of Hathaways character. Saying she was "oh typical female acting on emotion instead of rationality" arguing that it was a bad cliche or misogynistic.

But now that the movie has been out for so long, people have learned thats not even true. The whole point of the movie is that brandt is RIGHT about love. And Cooper learns this in the film, he acts the same way, it is what guides him to save the world. On first watch brandts speech about love is meant to be cringe, and thats why other characters laugh it off. And when cooper realizes this in the black hole, it all comes full circle. And on second viewing, brandts speech becomes incredibly powerful.

All of this to say, that the argument about nolan not being able to write female characters stemmed from around the time of interstellar but that argument has completely gone away from what i have seen, and his list of female characters actually has become very strong. Penelope, mal, catwoman, kitty, brandt, murph, even Rachel. If anything I think it is becoming a strength of nolan.

All im thinking everytime i see an update from training camp.

I see "jj looked really bad today, a slight edge kyler this practice". Or "kyler looked really shaky, threw one of the worst passes ever, jj looked slightly better". Is that our qb room is likely still atrocious.

Im thinking we are about to sell the farm for a qb

Why TDKR is my favorite of the trilogy.

While I realise it may not he as well made as the other 2, I think the story is just so damn good. But there is one thing in particular about this movie imo that makes it stand above the rest for me.

The immersiveness is next level. Nolan handles the many characters in this movie masterfully. And while gotham may seem like your average american urban city in this movie, it feels so lived in, and the city itself feels alive. It is one of nolans most linear movies, but it feels like everything is happening around me, and not just in front of me. A distinguishing thing about this movie, is that when a character is off my screen, I feel as if they are still existing, and their story is still progressing; most movies when a character is off screen it feels as if they freeze in place until they are back on screen. Perhaps a simpler way to describe it would be an open world video game, vs a linear one.

The Song "Odysseus" and the scene it is used.

Ive never been a massive ludwig fan, I really liked the oppenheimer score. And on initial viewing of the odyssey the the score was just servicable. But my favorite moment in the movie was when "the beggar" talks to Penelope for the first time through the wall. And the cut to Troy and we see what has haunted Odysseus for so long. It was a moment in the theater ill remember forever.

So after seeing the movie I wanted to see what ludwig scored for this scene. And wow. The song Odysseus that plays during this sequence I think is ludwigs best work. It is absolutely chilling.

I think nolan is in his prime right now, I feel lucky to be alive the same time that he is releasing movies.

He is firing on all cylinders with oppenheimer and the oddysey. Obviously he has other masterpieces, and interstellar is still my favorite. But there is something about his last 2 movies that feels like he has mastered his craft. Every time I see one of his movies in a theater for the first time. I am just in awe of the things that are happening on the screen. From the movie itself, the acting, and especially the use of practical effects. When he choses to use cgi, it is done incredibly well by mixing it in with the use of practical effects. He uses cgi as a tool, not a crutch.

Supergirl didnt stand a chance, and it has nothing to do with the movie itself.

Supergirl could have been the best superhero movie of the last 20 years and it still would have flopped. And no its not because its a female lead superhero movie.

It flopped because of the timing of its release. Superman feels like it came out yesterday, and superman imo was just pretty good, it wasnt great, it wasnt bad at all, it was fine. But in the sea of superhero movies, with fatigue setting in for many, fine will not cut it for establishing a universe. So for the immidiate follow up DCU movie being supergirl, abd not another staple justice league character, I think people really just wernt excited for another "superman" movie. Even though they went for something very different in tone and story. I know the masses definitely just thought it was more of the same. And that is why it flopped

CG is actually enjoyable now

Ive done 300kc on main, and recently started the grind on my iron. Ive always been a t1 prepper. But after today's changes. I tried some t2 to just to see how nice the changes actually were. And wow, it feels so good. The time is obviously faster t1 or t2, but more than anything its the feel of it all. Being able to do t2 prep in the same time I used to do t1 without having to drop a bunch of crap and pick it up. Its amazing.

And most of all being able to bring in that t2 armor without losing much time makes hunleff a way more enjoyable fight. Not having to eat all the time

How did this most likely go down? (Qb competition)

It does seem like kyler is a little salty about this being a competition, implying that maybe he thought there wasnt going to be a real competition. Well KoC confirmed today that this competition isnt a falacy, its real to a certain extent. So how did this go down?

I find it hard to believe that KoC and Rob lied to kyler. So was it just in kylers head that it wouldnt be a competition? We're the vikings surprised by JJ early on? Making them change their minds? Or perhaps was it nolan teasely? Who has seen kyler up close and personal many times who said "wait, there is no way we are just going to hand kyler Murray the starting job"

Getting real tired of our WRs complaining about ball touch

It was interesting listening to kfan today. On one hand they played the AP interview again where he said something along the lines of "favre practiced exactly like he played in games, so you better be coming prepared with your catching hands because hes throwing that thing super hard in practice every day"

And on the other hand there was the jefferson interview, where AGAIN he pointed out the touch on the ball. Look, JJ was not a good thrower of the rock last year, but idgaf if he throws it hard. You think anyone would be saying a peep about favre throwing piss missiles every throw? No, you caught that damn ball, or he wont throw to you. If greg Lewis off the streets can come out and catch that absolute ballistic missile favre threw to him in the back of the endzone, our WRs should catch a routine pass with a little juice on it. And honestly the way all of our WRs hands were last year (other than nailor for some reason) I dont think they do make that catch that Lewis made in 09, I think it goes through their hands and after the loss in a post game interview they say "woe is me, jj just needs to learn to throw it a little softer, its too hard"

"This whole world" is a song that truly blows your mind when you realise what's happening

On a first listen most people (myself included) dont even realise what is happening under the surface. On its surface, you have what sounds like a pretty typical beach boys pop song. But then you realise what going on under the surface, the amount of key changes that happen before the second verse hits is truly one of the most incredible song writing feats in music history. Most song writers couldnt even write a single key change that sounds as seamless as the 7 rapid key changes this song has, most just use it as an escalation on a final chorus. This song has a key change every 8 beats.

I love showing someone this song and tell them to listen closely and tell me if they notice anything unique about it. Even with the heads up that something crazy is going on, they still dont notice the key changes

We might as well be strangers is the most natural weezery, weezer song in a long time

This just feels like en effortless pop punk classic weezer song, instantly catchy, instantly want to play it again as soon as its over, havnt felt that way in a long time. While there is some gems on the post white albums, and ok human is one of their best works as a whole album, I havnt just thrown one of their songs on repeat since the white album
