Some late night scrogging

Finally got one of my scrog nets set up hoping to get the second one set up tomorrow as long as the rope can handle the other nets elastic pull without the chance of the pillar it’s tied to falling over. Yes this is a hill billy rig job but it should work. I had to do it at night because it’s been 95 with 100-105 heat index during the day and I didn’t want to over stress the plants, but if I waited any longer they were going to be too tall for what I have set up. I wouldn’t have anything to attach the rope to.

All my LST clips finally starting to pay off big

I got a box of LST clips a few weeks ago because this is my first time growing multiple plants and ever doing training. They have been a huge help especially with my fat bastard autos where I put a clip between every node back and forth to make it zig zag as it grew. Now it has a stems fat as my thumb and knuckles between every node. The only small problem I had was I left the bottom and first clips on a little too long and they were stuck on the stems pretty good. Still was able to pop them off with enough firm pressure without damaging the stems. My lateral branches on my photos are really taking off but on my autos which are the only ones I did the zig zag since they wouldn’t get as tall anyways, all of their lateral branches are either within a inch of the main top and some are even taller than the main top. I can see now it’s going to be about perfect when it really starts stacking its buds. They’re in their first days of the second week of pre flower or still in the first week for a couple. I have been putting clips on all the branches that reach the top. After the heat wave we are having, 96 degrees with 105 heat index, I will be installing my scrog nets over the 4 of them I have 2 4x4 nets and a rope for one side and the banister on the other to hook the net to. Any suggestions are welcome. 🙏 thanks 😊

Week 1 of pre flower Blimburn Fat Bastard Autos

First time growing. Planted these on may 27th. I was born in 1987 and Austin Powers was one of the best movie dynasties of my time. I also love the fact they have some of the highest THC potency I could find with autos. They have really been tanks for plants only thing I’ve had problems with was some pests and the one with all the damage is the biggest one of the group so I can’t say it slowed it down at all. They have started to smell like a skunk just sprayed down my deck. The stems on these plants are almost as big as my thumb. The only training I’ve done is LST clips between every node once I could fit one on it. The lateral branches are growing great I even have 1-2 where the lateral branches are tellers than the top now and will need bent down too. Simple training with these plants give big results in my opinion they responded almost immediately every time I placed a new clip. If you do try them and use LST clips just watch the stem swelling too much and the clip getting stuck and choking the stem. I had to be super careful when I just removed the first ones I had placed they were stuck tight. They’re in shade because it’s 93 degrees and heat index is over 100.

2nd topping. How many nodes on new tops till you do?

I want to top this Durban cake one more time. I have topped it once but how many nodes do you let the new tops get before topping them again. Also should I top the second highest lateral branches too one already got topped after the first node on accident so there is only 1 other branch in that node if so.

Heat index of 105 today

This is going to suck 105 degree heat index for 3 days here in Ohio. I am hoping it doesn’t slow down my fat bastard autos pre flower stretch. Otherwise they took the 95 degree heat index today like champs but it had rained for a couple days prior.

Caterpillars are the devil.

I was wondering what was going on with this gorilla z auto sprout I thought the leaf had just had a genetic flaw and didn’t form right. Then I walk out today and see 2 new little bite marks and I am like wtf. So I flip up the dying leaf and a little baby caterpillar starts running for the hills. Needless to say the little shit got dunked into diatomaceous earth and then flushed but this is 4th one I have found in my 12 plant grow and they always do so much damage in so little time. I can’t spray the sprout yet but in the past the diatomaceous earth circle has worked but it can’t stop winged insects from laying their eggs on them. Usually I catch them faster but being a sprout I didn’t want to handle it to turn over the leaves if I didn’t have to.

u/Feisty-Nail-3879 — 1 day ago

Does this happen sometimes?

It looks like when the sprout went to form the middle finger on its first 2 finger leaf it got mis made and there is a line where the leaf didn’t form all the way across it and you can see a gap and it’s hanging down from that point just attached with the vein. First time I’ve had it happen out of my 12 plants but the rest of the sprout looks happy and healthy. Anything to worry about at all?

Pretty little girls Sitting in a Row.

All the girls are thriving they have been getting drizzled on all evening, supposed to keep it up for like 36 hours which sucks but it’s been spotty so far most of the time. This is their first long term rain where I didn’t carry them in the garage, but I also only had 2 in 15 gal pots until more recently and I don’t feel like waddling them in and out from my garage unless it’s a serious storm. They have been through one 15 min storm though that even ripped a couple leaves I was pissed. We have been getting storms in Ohio that are not in my opinion normal for this time of year. Then after the rain here comes 95 degrees and sunny 3 days straight. I ordered some more pot feet so I can lift them off my deck and not let the root zones Cook. 1st pic is my Photo periods 2nd is my Fat Bastard Autos which the front one has major pest and weather damage from that storm but she’s still popping and growing like crazy they truly are tanks of plants like Blimburn says. 3rd and 4th pics are my second oldest Durban cake I have pinned down I got some landscape staples today to make it easy. Last pic is my fat bastard auto I topped that is doing really well with no pre flower yet even know 2 of the autos have.

Fat Bastard Auto Flower I Topped

It’s doing well recovered in about a week now it’s bushing out I can’t wait to see what this little bush looks like when it flower and starts to stretch and I can do some LST. It rained last night so the soil has diatomaceous earth wet on top that’s why the soil looks crappy

u/Sluuriecake — 9 days ago

Over watering?

It rained like hell why my parents where on vaca and I am still learning to garden but to me I think it’s from all the rain causing root rot a little bit what do you guys think and these were from the bottom leaves. It gets full sunlight for around 8-10 hours a day minimum.

Me and my ladies in the Dark.

Just doing some late bite LST I honestly prefer doing any HST at night but LST doesn’t really matter but more fun in the dark since I got rid of the pests. The first 2 pics are my Blimburn Fat bastard auto, I added a second LST clip to her 3 sisters earlier but this one’s node space was a little tight for my liking. Go back out 6 hours later and there is more than enough room. The pre flower stretch is in full tilt I am getting out the tape measure tomorrow to keep track it’s just nuts first time I’ve got to see it since I am a first timer. I basically get to watch it in real time I check on them every few hours of course lol. 😆 but the 3rd pic is One of my Purple Caper Durban Cakes that is finally responding to being horizontal it took almost a full week but now it’s growing like crazy on the side I plan to do a corkscrew around a tomato cage eventually or do you guys thing I could just do a corkscrew without the tomato cage is there a down side to using one other then the pots much harder to move? Finally the 4th pic is my other Durban Cake I topped about 10 days ago I think but I trained its branches out and down today. Its lateral growth is unreal. Love this club BTW best part about these plants is the training, well and that one thing 😂

Omg Had to delete and start this post over twice.

Twice now I have tried to post this and been way to high and I forgot to add any pictures and the first post I had ready took me like 5 mins to type. RSO is kicking my ass lol. Anyways entire thing I wanted to post was me doing some night gardening with my fat bastard autos but my ass kept forgetting the actual pics lol so here they are also third pic is one of my Durban Cake testers that is finally after days responding to being horizontal. She just kept growing more top lol. I read that’s the Durban cakes incredible apical dominance.

Got my Heka and Grimm glue transplanted

Was able to transplant both plant I would say successfully they didn’t fall over lol. I will say thought I will be cleaning up the holes I drilled in the bottom of the 2 pots the roots had wrapped around the little plastic burs that were where I drilled the holes, so when I went to transplant they did not want to come dislodged and then the dirt was coming out but the plants roots were not so it was a bit of a pain but they will survive maybe some transplant shock for a day or two.

Topped my fat bastard auto

I know you’re not supposed to top autos but I have an extra one in a smaller pot that is behind its siblings so I said why not? It’s an experiment worth trying since my photo I topped has responded textbook like it should. I really think it won’t go into early flower. I do my topping at night so the growth hormones should be stored in the roots then and it seems to work well

They will fear me!! 😆

So my new sprayer finally came from Amazon, I am packing about as much heat as I could find that was OMRI certified and pretty Pet safe with some common sense. I think I can kill about anything Ohio can through at me now and if not I have Sluggo plus coming tomorrow. These little bastards will get my plants over my cold dead body ☠️ the damage is really minor over 12 plants but that’s only because I am out there CONSTANTLY because it’s my first grow, even at night that’s when I see the most action. I have found Thrips, plant hoppers, 2 caterpillar babays that that still just wrecked the leaf for their size in just hours and some aphids oh and to top it off a pincher bug like wtf lol. I have since treated my yard with the most effective pollinator friendly spray I could find. As far as I am concerned this is the beginning of the end for them 🤣.

PS Spinosad is coming with the sluggo plus tomorrow. I also have neem oil but I only used that once then read how it clogs the plants stomas so not unless absolutely have to. Am I forgetting anything?

This girl just don’t wanna stay down.

I had to finally figure out a way to tie her head down and hold it to the side but the stakes were getting too close to smashing the new growth on the node for my comfort. I have read Durban poison crosses which she is Durban cake and they have ridiculous apical dominance. I kept moving the stake and it kept growing around it of course but the vinyl tape seems like a much better idea I am hoping to wrap her around a tomato cage and I would rather not top her if I can help it and lose some growth but her older sister has responded like gang busters to being topped. I just wanted to try both ways and see which did better but I also know with 2 tops I could make a very cool looking plant around my tomato cage

Someone that has done the scrog method successfully please.

How high should I hang my net above my fat bastard autos I am doing 2 plants for a 4x4 net outdoors. I just got my net and I would like to set up my rope I will be attaching it to.

My first LST with my Fat Bastard autos from blimburn

Was finally able to fit some LST clips between the nodes of these indicas. I think I did ok 👌 and the black pucks in the pots are pot feet to keep the couple leaves off the dirt till it adjusts. I also included 2 picks of the main stem of my queen of the garden my Durban cake by purple caper. And then the last 2 picks are of the little sister to the Durban cake Queen and I am going to try and do a corkscrew eventually around my tomato cage. My other 2 fat bastard autos I plan to try out a 4x4 scrog net and try 3 different training methods and see what I like best.

60mph winds forecasted with tornado watch.

Well this should be a lovely evening for my grow I have them all put up in the garage and the 15 gal pots suuuucked I cracked the garage door and left the side door cracked for ventilation I hate putting them in their I mean it’s dry but poor ventilation. I live in Ohio and the storm is huge but so far we have just got rain thank goodness but a lot of hours to go till the watch is over 7 hours.

Day 21 of first grow except 2 they’re 5.5 and 6.5 weeks old

This is my first time growing so of course I have been checking these things 10 times over night and day. It’s been a little consuming but hey from what I’ve gathered that’s pretty typical of first time growers. These are my lovely ladies from left to right I have 5 fat bastards from blomburn the little pot is stunted but it’s just to painful to toss but my new 10gal fabric pots came so I may toss it to start another auto. Then I have 2 heka and a Grimm glue from bros grimm seeds and then my 2 I started in early may they’re Durban cake testers from purple caper which I just topped the one 3 days ago and the other I did lst training in yesterday. I think everything is coming along well my autos seem to be thriving which is great since you don’t get a do over with those. Can anyone think of anything I should be doing right now? I am currently just watering with PH balanced water and I am using fox farm happy frog, worm castings, and perlite. I have yet to use any of the supplements I have but I have silica, cal-mag, and the fox farm soil trio pack but like I said I haven’t used any of those I am afraid I’ll burn them if it’s used before they need it. Any help with the nutrient stuff would be much appreciated
